SUB-PAGE (https://ironbutterfly.com/about/) Meet The Band
[H1] Meet The Band The Los Angeles music climate of the late sixties and seventies was characterized by the heavy sounds and sentiments that reflected the revolutionary attitudes of the generation. Bursting onto that scene was Iron Butterfly, whose sound not only epitomized the hard attitudes of the youth with its heavy drumming and bass lines, but also embraced more delicate aspirations through its intricate guitar and keyboard overlays. Iron Butterfly was signed to ATCO records (a division of Atlantic Records) and released their first album, aptly titled “Heavy”. While the band was on the road with the likes of: The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Traffic, The Who, and Cream, their impressive debut stayed on Billboard’s album charts for almost a year. They followed up with the monumental LP, “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”, featuring the 17:05 minute side-long track that shook the entire music industry with its phenomenal reception. ‘Vida out-sold every record in the history of recorded music within the first year of its release and therefore outgrew and outsold the standard of the music industry’s “Gold Album” award. For this achievement, Iron Butterfly was subsequently awarded The Industry’s Very First “Platinum Album”. “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” stayed on the charts for 140 weeks, with 81 weeks in the Top Ten. To date the album has sold in excess of 30+ million copies and remains an undisputed classic in the archives of rock with DJ’s and audiophiles worldwide. Within a year of releasing “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”, Iron Butterfly had charted a third album, “Ball”, which surpassed “Vida” (still in Billboard’s Top 10) turning “Gold”, and climbed to No.#1. “Ball” remained on the charts for 44 weeks, followed by two more album releases “Live” and“Metamorphosis”, each charting respectably in the Top 20. He remembers looking across the stage at Ron, Doug and Lee and thinking “I can’t believe I’m up here rocking with my heroes”. Eric is a veteran of Iron Butterfly and has traveled the world with the original band beginning in 1995. He returns with his lead vocals, powerful guitar playing and distinct sound. Eric has performed with many other well-known artists and is known as a world-class guitarist and vocalist. Dave Whiston Bass Guitar & Vocals Dave lays down the Iron Butterfly bottom end with his bass guitar producing the heavy bass lines the Butterfly is famous for. Dave is also known for his years of touring with The Rick Springfield Band, Billy Idol, Kelly Christian, Shannon Beaty, Paul Shrtino, Krunk, Kottrak, RadioRage, Jaime Segal and not to mention the Dave Whiston Band. 🔗 Identity & Technical Layer — schema JSON-LD: identity chains, entity gaps (Identity & Authority)
Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 1884 businesses audited.
Iron Butterfly has 1.5 points more BS than the average for Arts, Culture & Entertainment.
Arts, Culture & Entertainment BS: Iron Butterfly (ironbutterfly.com)
Iron Butterfly provides a masterclass in ‘Heritage BS,’ where valid historical milestones from the 1960s are used to mask a technically dilapidated and chronologically stale digital presence. While the names and dates are specific, the total absence of structured data and future-dated evidence makes this site a digital ghost of its former brand. It provides enough substance to avoid a high score, but enough technical and temporal drift to remain suspicious.
Immediately implement Organization and Person schema to link current band members to their professional histories and verify the entity’s identity. Replace the repeated navigation menus in the body text with actual performance reviews or live media to improve information density. Update the Shows page with future-dated concerts or explicitly label the section as a ‘Recent Tour History’ to resolve the temporal disconnect. Add outbound verification links to the RIAA for sales claims and IMDb for film credits to provide external proof paths.
The site perfectly aligns with the Arts, Culture & Entertainment category as it represents a legacy musical act. The content focuses on discography history, touring personnel, and performance media characteristic of the industry.
“The score of 34 is driven primarily by the total absence of technical authority signals (schema) and the lack of current/future evidence on the shows page. It remains in the 'Low BS' range because the 'About' page contains genuine, specific historical data and named performers with verifiable (though unlinked) careers. The primary penalty points come from the Identity and Authority pillar due to technical negligence.”
