[H3] One liner [H1] We envision new businesses and brands, and we design the experiences and capabilities that bring them to life. [H2] A history of making the future For nearly 50 years, we have been helping the world’s most imaginative leaders create human-centered products, services, and organizations that drive business, inspire culture, and shape the future.David Kelley, Bill Moggridge, and Mike Nuttall founded IDEO in Palo Alto in 1991, at the dawn of a world-changing era of innovation in Silicon Valley. From the beginning, the company was built on a simple philosophy—that creativity is the most powerful tool for solving complex challenges.Today, IDEO is a global design and innovation company with studios and collaborators around the world. We continue to help all kinds of organizations imagine what’s next—and, more importantly, how to make it a reality. That process of observation, understanding, and creative interpretation is still one of our most valuable capabilities.By embracing our values of empathy, humility, and open-mindedness, we're able to ask the best questions and design the best solutions. [H2] “We need to think about the kind of trust, comfort, and safety that we can provide as leaders and facilitators of these curiosity moments." [H3] Jane Fulton Suri The Art of the Insight: Learnings from 30 Years of Curiosity and Empathy [H2] Pioneers of design thinking In his 2009 book Change By Design, then-IDEO CEO Tim Brown put into words a process IDEO had been practicing for decades. The philosophy of design thinking—a repetition of testing hypotheses and building on your findings to create more human-centered solutions—was completely novel in the business world at the time. Alongside Tim’s appearance on the TED stage in 2009, IDEO’s work with our partners shined a spotlight on the potential of design and the impact it could have on the world.Today, we’re still applying this progressive, iterative approach to everything from healthcare systems to emerging technologies, and supersonic jet planes, while testing our assumptions and tweaking the process along the way. [H2] “Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer's toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.” [H3] Tim Brown [H3] Watch Tim's TED Talk from 2009 [H2] Experience, expertise, and wide-eyed imagination Our greatest strength lies in our people—and we don’t just hire designers. From registered nurses to magicians, architects to chefs, photographers to data analysts, the alchemy of our lived experiences and expertise means you won’t find our flavor of creativity and craft anywhere else.Zoey ZhuSenior Software DesignerZoey is a software designer at IDEO San Francisco. 🛡️ Trust Signals — reviews, proof links, trust-theatre flag (Trust & Proof)

🔗 Identity & Technical Layer — schema JSON-LD: identity chains, entity gaps (Identity & Authority)
Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 102 businesses audited.
IDEO has 9 points less BS than the average for Business Consulting & Coaching.
Business Consulting & Coaching BS: IDEO (ideo.com)
IDEO is the rare consulting entity that justifies its use of buzzwords through historical ownership and high-stakes client validation. The BS score is primarily a result of technical proof gaps (missing schema) and the inherent marketing ‘theatre’ of using unlinked executive testimonials, rather than a lack of actual substance. It remains a benchmark for how to sell abstract services using concrete evidence.
Integrate Person and Organization JSON-LD schema to programmatically link internal experts to their external professional records. Replace the trust-theatre ‘reviews’ section with a ‘Proof Gallery’ that includes direct outbound links to the press releases or white papers mentioned in the text. Quantify the ‘IDEO IQ 2026’ findings directly on the homepage to provide immediate data-driven substance before the click. Convert fluff-heavy H2 headings like ‘Experience, expertise, and wide-eyed imagination’ into results-oriented headers such as ’50 Years of Prototyping Future Markets.’
The site is an exact match for the Business Consulting and Innovation category, specifically focusing on human-centered design and strategic organizational transformation. The content confirms this via detailed case studies of Fortune 500 consulting engagements and the formalization of Design Thinking as a service methodology.
“The moderate BS score of 35 is driven by the Identity and Authority pillar (9/15) and Trust and Proof (11/20). The lack of structured data and external proof paths for high-level claims prevents a 'Minimal BS' rating. Semantic Coherence (0/20) and Information Density (8/30) are exceptionally strong, indicating a very high alignment between marketing claims and actual business evidence.”
This training module utilizes a snapshot of public data from IDEO, captured on May 30, 2026, to demonstrate how machine logic evaluates different types of business narratives.
Purpose: This data is presented under “Fair Use” / “Educational Exception” for the purpose of forensic semantic analysis, allowing users to compare human intuition against machine-generated evaluations.
Notice to IDEO: This analysis is part of a non-adversarial audit conducted by 1 Euro SEO. The results provided by 1EuroSEO are intended as professional feedback to help improve any website’s machine-readability and authority signals. The 1EuroSEO BS Detection Tool is a free tool, and anyone can test any company to see how their content is interpreted by AI models.
Any company can use the insights for free and improve its voice by comparing it to industry clichés or competitors. When a company has updated its content, it can always submit a new audit request, which will be reflected in a new current score.
