[IMG: A person pouring Tide liquid detergent on stained shirt] [H1] How to remove stains It’s a fact of life that not all stains are created equal. It’s important to know what type of stains you’re facing before choosing the most appropriate pretreatment and washing methods to use. Dealing with oily stain removal? You can use a dish soap to pretreat these spots, but for enzymatic stains, like blood, you’ll want to pretreat with a liquid detergent and a clean toothbrush. Different stains can require different removal processes. Now that you have an idea of what type of stain you have, the good news is that most stain removal procedures are similar, except when it comes to pretreating. Whatever the cause of the stain, however, here are a few tips on how to get stains out of your favorites:Step 1. Remove the excess stainUse a paper towel, a fork, or a brush to get rid of as much of the stain as possible on the garment. This is particularly important for stains that have already dried.Step 2. Pre-treat stainsHere it’s important to know the type of stain you are dealing with, because each requires a different pretreatment method:Enzymatic stains.Pour liquid detergent directly onto the stain. Gently rub the fabric together, or use a soft-bristled toothbrush to help work the detergent into the garment's fibers in a circular motion. [H5] Recommended Products: [IMG: Tide Ultra Stain Release Liquid] Tide Ultra Stain Release Liquid Laundry DetergentGreasy or oily stains.Presoak in a soaking solution of detergent and warm water, or pretreat them with dish detergent.Body-soil stains.Rinse garments affected by body-soil stains under cold water.Bleachable stains.Presoak and wash with powder detergent. [H5] Recommended Products: [IMG: Tide Plus Bleach Powder Laundry Detergent] Tide Plus Bleach Powder Laundry DetergentClay or dirt stains.Presoak in cold water with liquid detergent.Step 3. Add detergentMeasure the correct amount of detergent according to the product labels and your load size.Step 4. Wash your garmentsChoose the most appropriate wash temperature and cycle setting according to the instructions given by the garment's fabric-care label.Step 5. Check garments before dryingDon't put the clothes into the drier until the stain is completely removed, as drying will set the stain. To prevent stains from setting in, remember to soak the garment in cold water as soon as possible. When it comes to removing stains, it’s usually best to use cold water if you're not sure about the stain type. However, for greasy stains, you'll want to use warm water.Back to Top

Learn How to Separate LaundryOnce you’ve familiarized yourself with fabric care labels, the next step in how to do laundry properly is sorting. For the best results, you’ll want to wash different colors and fabrics separately. To begin, you can sort clothes by:Color ShadesClothes with deep colors are more likely to bleed dye when washed. To avoid damaging other clothing, sort laundry according to color, separating lights from darks.Fabric WeightWash and dry heavier items, like towels, separately from lighter weight clothes to prevent damage to finer fabrics and to ensure even drying.Fabric TypeWash delicates and durable fabrics separately on the appropriate washing cycles to avoid damage to fine fabrics. Separate items with zippers and buttons from knits and lingerie.Amount of DirtVery dirty or stained laundry should be washed separately on a longer, heavy-duty cycle. This provides the agitation necessary to get rid of heavy dirt. Don’t worry—we’re here to show you how to sort laundry for the best results. [H1] Don't worry, we're here to show you how to sort laundry for the best results.Step 3. Understand How to Pretreat StainsPretreat any heavily stained or soiled clothes. This helps to loosen up the stain, making it easier to wash it out. There are several methods you can use depending on the stain, but these two are used most often:Coffee, tea, berry, or sweat stainsPour detergent directly on the stain, then gently rub the fabric together or use a soft-bristled toothbrush to help work the detergent into the fibers, then leave it on for a few minutes.Blood, dirt, or motor oil stainsPrepare a soaking solution with Tide detergent. Let these garments soak for about 30 minutes before washing. And there are other stains where these alternative pretreating methods may come in handy:Butter, margarine, or grease stainsRub dish detergent onto the stain to loosen it before pretreating.Chewing gum stainsSoak the item in hot vinegar for 1 to 3 minutes, but always test for colorfastness first. You can do this by applying a small amount of vinegar to an inconspicuous area of the garment. After a few minutes, blot with a paper towel, and if no color comes off on the towel, your garment is colorfast, and you can continue to pretreat.Step 4. Determine How Much Detergent to UseCorrect detergent dosing is the next most important factor for laundry success. The right amount depends on how large your load is, how dirty the clothes are, the hardness of your water as well as the type of detergent you’re using. And you may still need to use a different amount if you are using an HE machine. The co

Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Cleaning, Maintenance & Janitorial Services BS: Tide (tide.com)
Tide is a rare example of a high-volume brand that prioritizes technical substance over marketing fluff. By providing 15,000+ characters of expert-level laundry science, the site effectively eliminates the ‘distance’ between its claims and its evidence.
Integrate Person schema for lead scientists mentioned in fact-check articles to bridge the minor authority gap. Fix the missing metadata and content on the Contact Us page to maintain technical consistency. Add direct outbound links to the NASA Space Act Agreement and the BrandSpark survey results to provide a transparent ‘proof path’ for every major trust claim.
The classification ‘Cleaning, Maintenance & Janitorial Services’ is a partial mismatch as Tide is a consumer product brand (FMCG) rather than a service provider. However, the content provides exhaustive technical protocols for fabric maintenance and stain removal that align with the high-level industry requirements for cleaning expertise.
“The exceptionally low BS score of 14 is a result of the site's massive commitment to technical documentation and scientific defense of its products. Penalties were only incurred for minor schema omissions and the inherent repetition of core product value propositions.”
