Training Example: Teatulia Organic Teas – Review the Data, Give Your Score & Compare to the Real AI Evaluation

Industry Context — Common BS Fingerprints in Ecommerce & Online Retail
Generic Claims: best prices online, free shipping on everything, satisfaction guaranteed or your money back, trusted by thousands…
Red Flags: no business address or company registration, manufacturer stock photos as product images, prices dramatically below market with no explanation, no return policy or extremely restrictive terms…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims premium but product pages show dropshipped goods, claims handmade or artisan but product images are manufacturer stock, homepage says ethically sourced but no supply chain information, claims exclusive products but same items found on Amazon and AliExpress…
Proof Expectations: verifiable business registration and address, real product photographs not manufacturer stock images, third-party reviews on independent platforms (Trustpilot, Google), clear return and refund policy with process details…

[H1] What is B Corp?

B Corps (also known as Benefit Corporations or B Corporations) are forward-thinking companies committed to using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. B Corps are certified by the nonprofit B Lab to voluntarily meet rigorous standards around social change, environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
In the words of Esquire Magazine:

“B Corps might turn out to be like civil rights for blacks or voting rights for women—eccentric, unpopular ideas that took hold and changed the world."

[H2] Teatulia®’s B Corp certification

In 2014, Teatulia became the first Colorado tea company to become certified as a B Corporation. We are proud to have reached this milestone of B Corp certification because Teatulia was started in 2000 with one main goal—to improve our local community. The Teatulia Gardens were established in Northern Bangladesh as an enterprise to give the most people a living wage while protecting and strengthening the environment.
B Corporation’s values are aligned with everything we believe in. It’s important to allow our consumers to see and understand our business practices as well as our commitment to sustainability. And we only surround ourselves with like-minded individuals and companies—those that believe in giving back and making the world a better place.

"The wave of specialty tea companies embracing B-Corp status is an exceptionally positive trend with powerful, long-term implications. Ultimately this leading-edge approach to conducting business will deliver the accountability and transparency tea consumers are increasingly seeking and the trade itself will benefit from at all levels." - Brian Keating / Sage Group (Founder) & Specialty Tea Is "Hot" Report author

[H2] A few of the reasons why we've been awarded our B Corp certification:

[H3] Organic Practices:

We own our own USDA Organic certified garden, one of the largest organic tea gardens in the world, where we demonstrate our commitment to the environment by ensuring no chemicals, unnatural irrigation or machinery are ever used in cultivation of our teas and herbs.

[H3] Rainforest Alliance Certified:

Our commitment to sustainability was recognized in 2013 when we were awarded Rainforest Alliance certification for our garden. Rainforest Alliance Certified farms and gardens support a healthy environment, promote the well-being of workers and their communities, and ensure efficient growing methods.

[H3] Community Cooperative:

To achieve the goal of improving our local community, we founded the Teatulia Cooperative. Through the Cooperative, we have established revolutionary education, health and cattle-lending programs for the people working in our tea garden and surrounding communities. All sales of Teatulia Organic Teas contribute to this mission, helping to better the lives of Bangladeshi men, women and children in our community while rebuilding the local economy and ecosystem.

[H3] Sustainable Packaging:

In an effort to leave a minimal environmental footprint, we pioneered a more Earth-friendly packaging solution for tea. Instead of packaging in tins, paper or plastic like most tea companies, our innovative retail canisters are 100% compostable and made from post-consumer waste. Our labels use water-based inks and water-based adhesives, making them environmentally friendly. And our plant based pyramid and square tea bags are compostable, and they are both free of unnecessary wrappers, strings, tags or staples. Our packaging goal is that fewer resources are used and there is no waste.

To learn more about our B Corp certification, visit the Teatulia Organic Teas community page on the Certified B Corporation website.
[H2] What does B Corp certification mean?

In the words of Certified B Corporation:

“B Corp certification is to sustainable business what LEED certification is to green building, Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk.”

Certified B Corporations must voluntarily meet higher standards of transparency, accountability and performance, as well as help build a collective voice through the power of the unifying B Corporation brand. Unlike traditional corporations, certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions not only on their shareholders, but also on their stakeholders (e.g., the community, the environment, workers, suppliers and consumers).
Certified B Corps voluntarily create higher quality jobs and improve the overall quality of life in communities worldwide, instead of relying only on government and nonprofit sectors to solve some of the more challenging societal issues. Certified B Corps are dedicated to creating corporate value for society, not just shareholders. In fact, the B Corp Declaration states that:

We must be the change we want to see in the world.
All business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered.
Through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.
We act with the understanding that we are each dependent on upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.

B Corp certification is part of a global movement started by B Lab, a nonprofit organization that serves a to redefine success in business so that all companies compete not only to be the best in the world, but the best for the world. B Lab drives this systemic change through a number of interrelated initiatives:

Building a community of Certified B Corporations to make it easier for all of us to tell the difference between truly good companies and simply good marketing.
Passing legislation to accelerate growth of social entrepreneurship and impact investing.
Driving capital to high-impact investments through the use of GIIRS Ratings and Analytics.
Providing free, powerful tools for businesses to measure, compare and improve their social and environmental performance.

[H1] About Us

We are a Denver-based, Bangladeshi-grown organic tea company working to create a regenerative and self-sustaining community. We bring the best-tasting, organic tea straight to your cup. We are:

FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Our garden started as barren land and we brought it back to life through regenerative farming. Our revolutionary eco-canisters and infinitely recyclable cans don’t just look good, they do good!

FOR THE PEOPLE
Women working in our garden benefit from innovative education, health and cattle-lending programs that help lift families out of the cycle of poverty.

FOR THE TASTE
Because our tea comes direct from our garden to your cup, Teatulia is some of the freshest, best-tasting tea out there.

[H3] It Matters Where Your Tea Comes From

TEATULIA IS A PBC
Teatulia is proud to announce its conversion to Public Benefit Corp (PBC).
A benefit corporation still has a profit-making goal, but it also has a broader public benefit purpose: to make a material positive impact on society and the environment. PBCs must work to achieve this purpose and therefore have the flexibility to make decisions that balance profits with social causes and environmental responsibility. Our mission of doing right by the environment and people have been in our DNA since inception, and now we have made it official with the conversion to PBC.
Thank you for your support as we continue our mission of leaving this world better than we found it.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

https://teatulia.com 📍 Industry: Ecommerce & Online Retail
31 BS / 100

Teatulia is a rare example of a substance-first e-commerce brand that owns its supply chain and historical narrative. The low BS score reflects a site that uses marketing language primarily to organize its genuine operational achievements rather than to mask a lack of them. Its only significant weaknesses are a lack of technical structured data and the absence of direct outbound links to its third-party certifications.

Implement Organization and Person schema to technically link the brand and its mentioned experts to verifiable external profiles. Replace static media logos (Forbes, Newsweek) with direct outbound links to the actual press coverage or mentions. Update the sustainability claim regarding 100 percent packaging in 2024 to reflect current progress, as the temporal anchor is now June 2026. Add a direct link to the official B Lab public profile to eliminate trust theatre concerns regarding the B Corp status.

The site perfectly aligns with the Ecommerce and Online Retail category, specifically focusing on the niche of organic tea production and direct-to-consumer sales. The content across all pages consistently discusses product sourcing, garden management in Bangladesh, and retail packaging standards.

“The score of 31 is driven by the Trust and Proof pillar and the Identity and Authority pillar. Specifically, the lack of outbound proof links and missing Organization schema prevented a lower score. The site scored perfectly on Semantic Coherence, indicating an exceptionally honest relationship between its marketing promises and its actual business model.”
