Switch between studio-neutral and basshead tunings whenever you want. For the first time in Thieaudio’s Signature Series lineup, the Monarch MKIV (Mark Four) comes with an adjustable tuning switch. Extensive R&D has led up to a functional tuning switch that is stylish, easy to use without tools, and makes an extensive impact on the tuning. Users can switch between “STANDARD” and “RUMBLE” modes. RUMBLE adds an additional 3dB to the entire sub-bass shelf, increasing both the sub-bass and low-mid power. With RUMBLE, the overall tuning profile becomes thicker, warmer, and more powerful. Monarch MKIV’s tuning switch allows users to enjoy both Monarch’s signature neutral tuning, while giving the option to experience the powerful bass slam like that of the Thieaudio Origin.
[H3] An All New Tuning Profile
The Monarch MKIV encompasses both tradition and modernity in its tuning profiles.
In STANDARD tuning mode, the MKIV goes back to its roots by bringing back a studio-neutral tonal balance. The sub-bass dishes out a whopping 10dB of hard hitting bass, but with a sharp 150Hz low-mid cutoff, the bass is fast and precise, allowing for a clean midrange. The midrange has been cleaned up to be more neutral between 150Hz and 1kHz, while the treble is more crisp and natural. Compared to the previous generation, the MKIV’s treble focuses more on vocal clarity while eliminating unnecessary upper treble harmonics for a smoother and more candid treble extension.
In RUMBLE mode, the low-mid crossover is loosened, unleashing a more powerful bass and thicker mids. The sub-bass is boosted to 13dB to enable significantly greater thump and low-end presence. The low-mid range at 200Hz to 500Hz is also boosted by 2dB, giving greater body, depth, and texture to bass guitar, male vocals, and fundamental notes of instruments. RUMBLE is designed for those who love a thicker body in their music and want a more engaging bass.
The Monarch MKIV is meticulously tuned with 9 independent passive crossover components with a passive 4-way crossover network, 4 independent sound tubes, and impedance grounding network.
[H3] IMPACT2
The IMPACT2 (“Impact Squared”) is THIEAUDIO’s tried and true subwoofer solution consisting of two latest generation of 8mm composite diaphragm drivers arranged in an isobaric design. The new 8mm dynamic driver focuses on speed and hard-hitting slam for a powerful, yet clean sub-bass thump. The usage of two 8mm subwoofers significantly enhances the power and texture of the bass, while our in-house isobaric chamber design keeps the frequency and pressure constant. [H3] Electrostatic Tweeters
The Monarch MKIV completely redesigns EST driver utilization. By more efficiently targeting the treble range of its balanced armature tweeters, the Monarch MKIV can focus the EST tweeters specifically at the 10-40kHz region. This new crossover technique allows smoother treble transition between the BA and EST drivers for a more natural treble timbre, while simultaneously enhancing EST output into the ultra-treble range. The cable is a noticeable upgrade over the MKIII — it looks and feels more premium, with a nice thick, supple braid. The shells, however, are quite large and chunky (CNC-machined aluminum this time), which gives them a solid, high-end feel but also makes them heavier. Fit is acceptable when stationary, but I experienced unsealing during movement or even casual talking in meetings. Compared to the MKIII, these feel bulkier and less secure for me.
Sonically, the MKIV delivers exceptional resolution — constant clarity, vivid detail retrieval, and an expansive soundstage that feels like a true bubble, with elements spread far apart. It's noticeably larger and more holographic than the MKIII.
The real highlight is the dual tuning switch: STANDARD (Neutral) and RUMBLE.
In STANDARD mode, the mids and vocals are stunning — front-and-center staging, beautifully clear, euphonic, and natural. This is easily my favorite aspect of the entire IEM; vocals sound intimate and lifelike in a way few sets achieve.
However, the bass here feels lean with limited impact and slam — the fast decay sometimes makes it sound a touch disjointed or unnatural. The treble has good extension and air, but there's a noticeable peak/presence that becomes fatiguing at higher volumes or during long sessions.
Switching to RUMBLE adds meaningful sub-bass emphasis (closer to MKIII levels, though still not the deepest rumble or slam I'd ideally want), thickening the overall presentation and helping balance the treble energy. Vocals widen slightly and blend more into the mix, sounding a bit thicker. Mids remain fairly consistent between modes, especially with my aftermarket cable.
That ivipQ cable helped tame the treble in STANDARD (making it more listenable long-term) and improved bass definition in RUMBLE.
For context, my daily driver is a DDHifi x Moondrop Surface (although using the same JVC tips + ivipQ cable). The MKIV edges it in raw spaciousness, separation, and that ultra-vivid clarity. But the Surface setup feels more musical, toe-tapping, and cohesive overall — better bass slam, more natural/lush presentation, and vocals that sit nicely between the MKIV's two modes. The soundstage is comparable in size, but without the ultra-defined bubble edges; everything connects more organically and openly — think of the sound of an HD650 with more slam in IEM form.
If I could dream up an ideal MKIV, it would combine the gorgeous STANDARD-mode vocals/mids, significantly reduced treble peaks for all-day comfort, and the kind of impactful, slamming bass you get from something like the Valhalla tuning. Also, physically no larger/heavier than the MKIII, with a better cable.
Summary:
The Monarch MKIV is a technical powerhouse with impressive resolution, huge staging, and those truly beautiful vocals in STANDARD mode — that's the standout feature for me. The tuning versatility via the switch is a nice touch, and the build feels premium. However, the fit/fatigue issues and my personal tuning preferences (wanting more bass authority and less treble bite) keep it from being a perfect daily driver. Still, it's a compelling flagship that pushes the Monarch legacy forward — highly recommended if high-res detail and spaciousness are your priorities, especially if you vibe with the neutral-leaning signature. 3.85/5.

[H3] Enhanced Ultra-Treble Output
The Monarch MKIII has been updated with Sonion’s latest electrostatic (EST) drivers and re-tuned to better exhibit these drivers’ full potentials. Thanks to our new tuning strategy, the ultra-treble frequencies at +15kHz to 20kHz have been increased for a more comprehensive upper frequency extension. Compared to its predecessor, the Monarch MKIII will have a greater sense of staging, atmosphere, and an overall enhancement in perceived resolution thanks to the treble extension.
[H3] Balanced Tonal Signature
At the core of the Monarch MKIII is THIEAUDIO’s commitment to tonal excellence. The Monarch MKIII retains a studio-monitor like tonal signature with a focused sub-bass impact for a clean, natural, and detailed sound. Engineered with a true 4-way crossover with 9 separate passive components, the Monarch MKIII stays true to its tonal legacy. Thanks to IMPACT2 , the subbass is punchier, but the mids from 200Hz to 800Hz retain their ruler-flat neutrality. This tonality of the mids mimics the true sound of studio monitors used in recording studios to deliver accurate audio reproduction.
Furthermore, compared to its predecessors, the Monarch MKIII mids have been revamped with a new tuning strategy, which better separates respective driver ranges to maximize output while minimizing the total harmonic distortion. This means the mids on the MKIII will sound higher in resolution while retaining the same monitor-esque tonality. The treble has also been slightly re-tuned to offer more coherency throughout the region, as well as little more clarity and definition. This slight tonal modification better mixes with the renewed ultra-treble response, providing a more crisp sound signature.

The Monarch MKIII has been upgraded with Thieaudio’s latest modular cable. The upgraded cable is composed of thicker 22AWG 6N OCC silver-plated and graphene silver-plated composite wires. It has been praised by many with just a few recommendations for improvements, concerning either its size, which nevertheless heavily depends on users' ears and so is rather a subjective matter, or the musicality, less so and a subjective matter too. I unfortunately have very tight ear canals, it seems, so I struggle with these iems a little and will probably need to try tips smaller than the standard small size. But most people have no problem with that, that's what I had read prior to getting the monarchs, so it is a bit bad luck on my side. Regarding the music side, of course, this is my own opinion, an opinion of an average person, not a professional studio sound master, or an expert on audio equipment, I, for instance, don't have many other audio equipment to compare it to, so what I write might perhaps be taken with some tolerance. What I usually read is that the product gives you clear sound with lots of details and great bass, wide soundstage, some even talk about some holographic experience, some say the mk3 might be one of the best or the best in the world, and that they don't see how anything else could sound even better in this category. I will be just a tiny little bit more reserved avoiding being too ecstatic. Firstly, we are not in the category of top professional external earphones or some justifiedly high-end audio setup sitting appropriately in a room, creating true holography. Being in the category of in-ear monitors, one has to ask the question what we can possibly achieve in such a product category. I can say mk3 is quite an achievement musically, above average, no doubt about that. It really does give us an open sound, close to being neutral in tonality, but this will also depend on the dac/amp used, it has plenty of details, it has a very good bass indeed, mids and treble too, in summary open and detailed. The sound lingers in the air long enough to be regarded as coming from a physically existing instrument (hopefully not simulated by a computer), fading away with greater continuity than what many other earbuds offer, the sound stage is wide (more wide than deep), but I am not sure I would talk about some holography. I don't hear it that way, but frankly I don't see how this could be properly done with an in-ear listening device, but may be that's possible too in theory. What I would also add is that, although many people don't hear treble the least bit as punchy, I do hear it, but I can assume this can be solved with a music player that has an equalizer, and it will probably also depend to some extent on how the original recording was done. In any case, an undisputed and unsurprising fact is that the mk3 performance will depend a lot on the sound source. It needs a dac and a high-res sound source to show its potential. And I say here that when the source is higher high-res., the mk3 is pretty incredible it terms of all the things you can hear with them. It then competes with professional external earphones. If the source is average, what can you do with it? No one can, no product can, the rest are math-based predictions, but the info is not there, as simple as that, so major miracle will not manifest itself. This means that while CD quality is good enough, and not bad at all, it will be played well, but since it is not a high-res. source, your audiophile jaw will not drop, not even with mk3.
Overall, I definitely recommend mk3, it is always possible to improve things, true, e.g. musically I would just by default reduced a touch the treble intensity, but other then that, it is a serious engineering achievement. P.S. for the nozzle size, I am taking one star off. A Anonymous unbelievable these are my first pair of iems since i started in the audio scene. i can’t even believe how they sound. the imaging, depth, texture, soundstage, separation… its perfect. paired with a neutral source, the sound is balanced but really full and with a lot of body. it’s really impressive what this iems can achieve. absolutely recommend them G Gabrielle G. My first and last IEM. ? I have done my research and also with the help of chatGPT to have a broader understanding of the audiophile world. You need a dac, and an iem? Get this. I listen to ALL THE HIT songs of drake, kendrick, j. Cole, pac, biggie, Jay-Z, Eminem, NWA, Ne-Yo, Usher, Chris Brown, Outkast, Michael Jackson, Eagles, Journey, Air supply, Bryan Adams, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Guns&Roses, Metallica, Led zeppelin, Linkinpark, Redhot, ac/dc, paramore, my chem, greenday, kiss, and all the popular EDM from david guetta, zeds, daft punk, kygo, avicii, illenium, marshmello, thefatrat. I have a very broad playlist bro. They all sound amazing!! ????
If you listen to any of the mentioned artists above, or maybe if you could relate to some genre? Then they all sound amazing using the monarch mk3. I’m currently using a hip dac 3 that has a burr-brown chip, and idk how to differentiate a tube amp, solidstate burson dac, or any feliks-audio dac/amp. Thats why I just decided to buy a hip dac 3 instead. But I’m soon to be upgrading to an ifi gryphon for my dac and buy a meze empyrian 2 for my endgame headset. Im sick and tired of chasing the new bluetooth headset or earbuds that cant even listen to a ? 44.1khz CD - Quality ??‍♂️ what more for buying a $400 sony/bose earbuds that cant listen to 96khz Hi-res? I feel like its a waste of money and people are missing out. You coulda bought a moondrop or a hype 4 with that $400. I lost the case tho and the 2.5mm jack and 3.5mm jack within a week. It would be nice if they sell the case on the website or maybe get me a free one since this is a pretty good glaze and shill ? but overall bro, this is a solid 9.5/10?

A Andrew Morgan Great Headphones I love everything about how they sound. Sounds amazing with music and gives perfect footsteps positions in games like sonar(I know that's probably not the intended use but its the best at it I've heard from my headphone collection). My only complaint is that occasionally the glue will wear out and you will have to glue the seam back together, which is easy but annoying(especially if you let it come all the way off as it may rattle if you don't put it back together perfectly). I know the plastic is the lightest option and these are very comfortable and durable but I wouldn't mind having a aluminum case with screws as an option. J Jeremy Grimard Not seeing 1500$ Idk, I just don't see 1000$ of value here. As some people say on forums, single driver is more coherent then any multi driver, and I have to agree. Coherency is important for imaging accuracy, and I can't justify going multi driver for like a small barely tangible increase in details.

THIEAUDIO is excited to announce a fresh lineup of next-generation IEM’s: Hype (Hybrid Performance). Since our journey into the world of Hi-Fi audio, we have accomplished much and have grown tremendously with every new project. Every launch has taught us how to develop better sounding audio solutions, as well as develop and utilize new driver types. We are putting together all of our acquired knowledge into the new Hype series. As the name implies, the Hype series will integrate multiple transducer types that best demonstrate innovations in the field to bring together new IEM’s that excel in both technicalities and tonality. We promise that the Hype series will live up to its name.
[H3] Introducing IMPACT²
The IMPACT2 (“Impact Squared”) is THIEAUDIO’s latest technological innovation to change the personalized audio industry. IMPACT2 is a new subwoofer solution consisting of two 10mm composite diaphragm drivers arranged in an isobaric design. The addition of another 10mm subwoofer significantly enhances the power and texture of the bass, while our in-house isobaric chamber design keeps the frequency and pressure constant. This means you can enjoy better-quality bass without sacrificing tonal integrity.
[H3] Latest Generation Sonion Drivers
The Hype 4 features the latest generation of Sonion Drivers, which we have custom implemented specifically for the Hype 4. The Soinion E50 series “Hummingbird” is a dual ultra-tweeter balanced armature driver, with the best technical specifications from any treble drivers offered by Sonion so far. With superb ultra-treble extension that rivals EST or planar drivers, as well as lower driver vibrations and harmonic distortions at higher outputs, the E50 series is one of the most robust treble drivers we have tested so far. Furthermore, we have selected the updated 26A series driver from Sonion for the mids. Dual stacking of this driver provides excellent output-to-THD ratios, which means you’ll notice a higher perceived audio resolution, texture, and layer in your mids and treble. Our implementation of the 26A series driver provides excellent tonal balance, particularly in the fundamental midrange, as well as lower trebles, with a near-perfect match to our target curvatures. The combination of the 26A with the E50 series drivers is one of our most exciting and efficient balanced armature utilizations so far.

With a strong sub-bass presence that cuts off precisely at 200Hz, with a ruler-flat midrange, to a near-perfect pinna curvature at 3kHz and a mild gradual decay until 20kHz, the Hype 4 is the perfect studio setup in your ears. Discerning audiences will appreciate the clean separation from the bass and the mids, which allows sub-bass impacts to be even more precise while the mids remain neutral and as-intended by the studio engineers. The treble response reminisces on one of the most legendary IEM’s that has revolutionized the industry. The technicalities from a humble 6 driver configuration sets new standards for this price bracket. The Hype 4 encompasses the no-nonsense recipe for THIEAUDIO perfection.

Very happy with them Was on the fence as to go with these or hop up another price tier (was looking at the 7th Acoustic Supernovas as well). Can't compare these to iems (due to lack of experience with other sets and technical know-how), but I don't regret buying these at all - they sound great across a variety of genres, and I find them comfortable (I'm using the medium-size tips). I'm using them with the hiby rs2, so ymmv. They're a hair bulky, but I expected that and it's not really an issue for me. Would highly recommend to anyone considering a pair of iems for under $500!

Max W. Fun. Engaging. Balanced. Detailed. I love quality Bass and was very exited to try this new Dual Dynamic Driver technology.
Compared to Clairvoyance and Monarch MKI - these fall somewhere in between: a musical monitor that is still fun and engaging. This pair is a less expensive way to try double dynamic driver setup, which sounds impressively good, outperforming both in Bass details and quality. But, obviously, not as good when it comes to details in Mids and especially Highs: you can't beat EST drivers in their effortless extension and lushness, yet these are still impressively capable.
You will struggle to find any major negatives in these.
Perfect for Electronic music.
Hype 2 is smoother and more fun to listen to, not fatiguing. Hype 4 is more analytical, more detailed. Both have slightly different sound and style, specifically meaning that Hype 2 is a solid everyday everything joy machine at a very good price.
Hype 4 sound has more resolution, more details, thicker midrange, wider soundstage, more space and air around sounds.
Hype 4 is slightly more in your face, slightly more intense. Juicy. Punchy. Thick. Fresh out of the box, sound a little (almost not worth mentioning) bright and a touch fatiguing: a good burn-in will smoothen them out into perfection!
Side note about Burn-in: laugh all you want but I nearly returned now my favourite headphones because they sounded so bad out of the box. 50h later, change is significant. Modern driver diaphragms are made from incredibly thin and rigid materials which require more cycles to break-in.
Stock Cable sounds really good: able to push a lot of details and keep everything sounding well rounded. Looks and feels fantastic. Perfect match. *Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Dongle (24bit/48kHz DAC/AMP), iPhone, Onkyo App - IMPRESSIVE.
Then I pushed them a bit further with DSD 11.2MHz and PCM 32/384kHz files, DSP off, High Gain, from Sony NW-WM1A DAP. Those two file formats are where magic truly begins and even on High Gain these IEMs did not even stutter - smooth and effortless all the way.
As expected, Hype 4 + 4N Silver Cable sounds absolutely - MAGICAL.
The difference with SPC stock Cable is this one is balanced (4.4mm), better clarity, better definition, better resolution and instrument separation / edges / borders, more solid composure of all elements resulting in a smoother more uniformed sound, more engaging and realistic. Holographic effect appears often.
Both stock silicone and foam Ear Tips are high quality, comfortable and highly resolving. Perfect match.
Larger storage case is really the perfect size. And it looks good. Included microfiber cleaning cloth is always a nice touch.
Very happy to see Shallow Recessed Sockets: these are much better and stronger than usual Flush Sockets. However, I wish they used stronger and more durable Deep Recessed Sockets.
Build quality is superb, high gloss shells, metal nozzles, neat bass port opening.
Faceplates are simple but are definitely an art: I can't stop looking at them, mesmerizing. When you put them under the light and move around their colour changes from blue/green to all blue to all deep purple.
These have smaller shells than Clairvoyance and in my opinion fit better and deeper.
If Hype 2 is a perfect gift for someone special or a friend you want to get into Hi-Res IEMs on a tight budget, Hype 4 is for someone who is already aware of quality sound but not ready for Monarch MKIII.
A complete package.
