[H2] Hello from Alice
As a BSc Mathematics graduate, I know how challenging maths can be! I specialise in teaching students who find maths difficult - particularly those with dyslexia and dyscalculia.

With over 10 years (and more than 6000 hours) experience as a tutor of children and adults, I have successfully assisted students in gaining GCSEs, passing tests, being offered promotions and relieving maths anxiety which around 25% of people experience.

I often have worried students and concerned parents approach me with a real worry about attainment in maths. Through thousands of hours, hundreds of students and years of study, I am able to create a bespoke plan for tuition that suits every student's personality, motivation and ability.

I am a youth mental health first aider and carefully listen to the concerns of every student about their maths ability, discussing together what we can do to alleviate stress and set them up on a path to understanding. My sessions are not pressured and I will happily accommodate last minute changes to topics as I believe in a student-centred approach and that tutoring is truly effective when the student participates as much as the tutor in discussions.

I work most frequently with students who are neurodiverse, whether that is having dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD or being on the Autistic spectrum. My sessions are welcoming, safe spaces to ask questions without judgement and a place to learn creatively and with specific learning differences in mind.

I first started my journey into working with neurodiverse students whilst working with university students in receipt of Disabled Student's Allowance (DSA). I started working in higher education in 2014 and have continued to offer targeted, individual support to students since then. In 2023 I qualified as a Further/Higher Education study skills tutor and make adjustments to these recommendations to adapt the techniques for younger students studying for their GCSEs.

I welcome parents and students to have a free video chat with me to discuss any prior concerns before commencing tuition, or to get in touch if you would like to know more about how I am experienced in working with students who have learning differences.

SUB-PAGE (https://alicecook.education/uas/) Unit Award Scheme | Alice Cook Education
[IMG: AQA Unit Award Scheme]
I am pleased to offer AQA Unit Award Scheme units through Alice Cook Education, an approved centre, for school students who want to gain certificates as recognition of their hard work and learning.
A way to engage students with their learning by offering certificates for learning recognised and marked by a professional tutor. It can boost confidence among younger students and inspire teenagers to explore areas related to their future careers.

It is great for students with learning differences or those who are driven to connect their interests to learning. It recognises small steps in learning for those who find it more difficult, or extra-curricular learning for those interested in other topics outside of school. With over 23,000 units to choose from (and custom ones available upon request), there is certainly something for everyone!

Students may enjoy extra-curricular units such as:

?Using Minecraft to build a small village

?Astronomy: Making a model of the solar system

?Designing a dream football team

Or learning related to school subjects like:

?Mathematics: Planning a holiday

?English: Communicating and organising clearly

?Science: Animal and plant adaptationsNo, as the units are not standardised or marked by examiners.

I mark each unit, provide feedback and advise changes if needed, before sending evidence off to AQA to request certificates.

There are no exams, just tutor-marked work.

Evidence can be as creative as you would like! Canva is a popular choice, alongside Word documents and handwritten work or collages. No, everything can be completed independently by the student with a help from an adult if needed.

Students receiving tutoring from Alice Cook Education are welcome to simultaneously work towards AQA units to gain certificates for their studies at a reduced cost. The academic year is September to August, as decided by AQA. The earlier in the academic year you sign up, the more you will be able to get out of the scheme.

More info
"Alice has been tutoring my 10-year-old son, who is significantly dyslexic, 2-3 times a week for the last 2 months and continues to do so. She is primarily doing literacy with him, as well as some maths. Her manner is calm and patient and he is engaged and focused (most of the time!). He has even started to enjoy poetry!! Highly recommended."SF, Year 5 Student

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Education, Schools & Universities BS: Alice Cook Education (alicecook.education)

https://alicecook.education 📍 Industry: Education, Schools & Universities
17 BS / 100

Alice Cook Education is a rare example of a high-substance, low-BS service site. It eschews ‘innovative pedagogy’ fluff for hard data on experience, pricing, and specific educational frameworks. This is a forensic benchmark for how independent practitioners should present their value proposition.

Add SameAs properties to the LocalBusiness schema to link Alice’s LinkedIn and professional ADSHE registration. Include an H1 tag on the homepage to improve technical structure and clarify the primary signal. Hyperlink the ‘AQA Unit Award Scheme’ text directly to the AQA website to provide an external proof path for the partnership claim. Add dates to the SF, Year 5 Student testimonial to ensure it meets the 12-month temporal anchor for ‘current’ evidence.

The site perfectly aligns with the Education category, specifically focusing on private tutoring and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The content provides granular detail on curricula (GCSE, KS3) and specific learning differences (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia), confirming the specialist classification.

“The score of 17 is driven primarily by the high information density and lack of semantic drift. Minor points were only accrued due to the absence of an H1 on the homepage and the lack of external verification links for the high review count.”
