Welcome to Ignition Driver Training. If you are looking for a driving instructor on Nottingham’s south side of the river, West Bridgford, Wilford, Ruddington or Clifton, then you have come to the right place. Our expert driving lessons come highly recommended in the local area, and we have a high first time pass rate.
All you need is a provisional driving licence to get started. Once you have one these, then we can get you on the road to learning a skill for life, staying safe and passing the all important test.
As a driving instructor I specialise in helping nervous beginners of any age, so don’t be afraid to give it a go. Learning to drive can help to enhance your opportunities in life, both in your career and personal life.

[H1] Here’s a rundown of the services we offer
We offer training to drivers of any age, with any level of experience from complete beginners, to those that have already had some lessons. We can also help with confidence building after passing the driving test. We offer motorway lessons and pass plus, and can also help you with training for the theory and hazard perception test.

[H2] Standard Manual Lessons
All of the driving lessons we provide are on a one to one basis and individually tailored to your strengths and weaknesses. They can be scheduled for a time and place convenient to you. Lessons range between 1 to 2 hours depending on your preference. I would normally recommend either 1.5 hours or 2 hours for most people, as they offer the best value, due to more time to practice skills. At this time, I only offer driving lessons in a manual car.

£40 per 1 hour lesson.
£60 per 1.5 hour lesson.
£80 per 2 hour lesson.
£390 for a block of 10 hours. Payment in full required before the first hour taken. All 10 hours must be taken within 1 calendar year.

[H2] Motorway & Pass Plus
For those who want to enhance their driving skills even further after passing the driving test, we can highly recommend taking some Motorway tuition or a Pass plus course.

£90 for a 2 hour motorway session.
£270 for a 6 hour Pass plus course.
Pass plus can be taken at any time, but it will be more beneficial to new drivers in their first year of driving. It’s designed to help you improve your confidence and skills on the road, whilst driving more safely. There is no test at the end and once successfully completed, you may be entitled to a discount on your car insurance. You may also be able to put the discount on hold for up to 2 years if you don’t already have a car. Check with your insurance company first.

[H1] Who is Noel Howgill?

Hi, I’m Noel….
If you choose to take driving lessons with me at Ignition, then I will be your driving instructor. I have more than 20 years experience as an approved DVSA driving instructor in Nottingham. I don’t just do this as a job. Above all else, I’m a life long car and driving enthusiast. Driving is what I do for fun, so I’m privileged to be able to share that passion and experience with new drivers and help them to start their own driving journey. I am proud to say that I have taught the essential skills of driving to hundreds of people over the years, giving me extensive experience in the field, as well as a story or two to tell. I have coached many people from all walks of life. One of the things I enjoyed most, was giving blind people the chance to get behind the wheel, driving on a race circuit. This was all for charity to help raise money for the guide dogs charity.
My driving career started when I was 8 years old, racing go-karts. I have always had a passion for cars and driving, and I still enjoy getting down to the local go-kart track. I also like to push my driving skills to the limit wherever I can and have many experiences behind the wheel, ranging from driving off road, through rivers and deep mud, rally driving, skid control, drifting and even stunt driving on 2 wheels! I also have a Caterham Seven that I enjoy driving on the road and on track days. Driving on a race track helps me to keep improving my driving skills and it’s great fun! I have driven on some of the top UK race circuits such as Silverstone and Donington.
My other love is music. I used to be a House music DJ for many years and have played in numerous venues. I love going to Ibiza and music festivals such as Glastonbury.

[H1] The Car

You will be learning to drive in my Toyota Aygo X. It is very easy to handle, comfortable and a good fun car to drive. Smiles guaranteed.
It has air conditioning to keep you cool on the warm days and heated seats for when it gets a bit chilly! It has dual controls to keep you safe and fully approved for the D.V.S.A. driving test. It has a 1 litre petrol engine with a manual gearbox.
I’m sure you’ll really enjoy driving it!
