Found Retro through the YouTube videos and so got a head start on learning some test route areas. By the time of my test, I think I had been round every route three times and learnt how best to navigate some tricky turns and roundabouts. Not just in these areas , I now feel confident about approaching tricky situations anywhere. For some lessons, I had Jack, a real nice bloke who helped me break some bad habits that the examiner would have picked up on.
But I really have to give all the credit to Dave. First off is he's just a nice chilled old school instructor who really has a great skill in teaching. He calmly instructs every aspect of what I should be doing and how to do it. Breaks down roundabouts and tricky turns step by step and makes it all seem very easy. Some of these situations came up in my test, and I felt confident navigating them.
On the morning of the test, we went over an area he thought would come up in the test and a certain corner I wanted to practice again, and they both came up. But the overall winner of the test was how calm and confident he made me, and that alone in the end was the deciding factor. It got to the point I was actually looking forward to the test, and we were waiting just generally chatting. The examiner I got wasn't particularly nice, quite abrupt and robotic, and very patronising, but nothing was phasing me. I had a few unusual situations on roundabouts, being flashed out with traffic still coming, people slingshotting around, and then cyclists turning up in awkward areas. Trucks and lorries coming opposite on corners, then dreaded temporary roadworks where they had left a cone too far across which if I had attempted to pass it was a sure fail.
The message in this long story is from my eight days, theory Monday, to passing the next Tuesday is the Retro team gave me all the tools in which to deal with all the situations which arose in a calm confident manner so the grumpy examiner had no choice in which to pass me. I now feel I am a better driver by choosing Retro, to which I am grateful. I also feel confident in going forward into any assessment in the future.
Thank you, Retro Commercial HGV Training .

I was offered a 4 or 6 hour course tailored to what I wanted to brush up on.
I choose the 6 hour course option as I wanted to spend the day driving.
I was offered lots of options as to what I wanted to achieve that day.
I was offered to go through, tacho, drivers hours, coupling and un-coupling the trailer, reversing, motorway driving and narrow roads to name a few.
But as I said you can tailor the course to suit your needs, this was for me was perfect.
I had two instructors, both were fun to chat to and made me feel relaxed and confident from the minute I got behind the wheel great communication and clear instructions.
I thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Had a great time
The best part of the day was when I realised that I was still a good confident driver and would like to get back behind the wheel.
I would definitely recommend booking a course with these guys if you wanted a refreshen up on your skills or confidence. Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I done my class 2 category c training with retro over the Xmas period, which was very good. Spoke to Patrick the owner who set it all up for me. I had Dave who trained me in the lorry, he’s a very nice man, got my confidence up as I felt abit anxious as never drove a lorry before. Come test day on the 3rd January and I passed with 3 minors. Excellent company to do training with very reliable and efficient. Highly recommend Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After failing my tests twice l started doubt myself and felt really sad about it, so decided to hear another opinion about my skills and contacted Patryk, what was great decision. He guided me through various places, repeated some aswell as l wanted to check those places twice. Working together we strengthened my driving weak points, also l have received useful tricks and other information which helps everytime while driving. Highly professional teacher! l have got my confidence back l passed my next test! ???????? Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Retro commercial training have been great from start to finish , quick to get the tests booked and organised everything for me 5 stars I would recommend this company for anybody looking to do there hgv licences Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. [IMG: Avada Car Dealer News]
If you’re thinking of driving an HGV in London, there are a few things you need to know first. For one, the process of getting licensed to drive an HGV in the UK is different from other countries. Also, the congestion charge and low emission zone can add to the cost of driving in London. And finally, you need to be aware of the rules and regulations around HGVs in London.

The Process of Getting Licensed to Drive an HGV in the UK
The process of getting licensed to drive an HGV in the UK is different from other countries. In order to get a license, you must first pass a series of tests, including a theory test and a practical test. The theory test consists of multiple-choice questions about the Highway Code and basic road safety. The practical test is a driving test that assesses your ability to drive an HGV safely.
If you’re coming from another country, you may need to take additional tests depending on your country of origin and the type of license you currently hold. For more information on this, please see The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency’s (DVLA) website.
The Congestion Charge and Low Emission Zone
The congestion charge is a daily fee that needs to be paid by drivers in central London. The fee is currently £11.50 per day for vehicles that emit less than 75 grams of CO2 per kilometer driven.
The low emission zone (LEZ) is a designated area in London where only vehicles that meet certain emissions standards are allowed to enter. The LEZ covers most of Greater London and the daily fee for non-compliant vehicles starts at £100.
For more information on the congestion charge and LEZ, please see Transport for London’s website.
Rules and Regulations around HGVs in London
There are a number of rules and regulations that apply specifically to HGVs in London. For example, HGVs are not allowed to use bus lanes during daylight hours, and they must be equipped with special mirrors that give the driver a better view of cyclists and pedestrians. In addition, there are restrictions on where HGVs can park and how they can access certain roads.
For more information on the rules and regulations around HGVs in London, please see Transport for London’s website.
London can be a challenging city to drive an HGV in but if you’re prepared for the Congestion Charge and Low Emission Zone, and familiar with the rules and regulations that apply specifically to HGV sin London, you’ll be able to navigate the city with ease!

SUB-PAGE (http://retrodrivingschool.co.uk/what-is-a-class-2-commercial-driver/) What is a Class 2 Commercial Driver? – Retro Commercial Training
[IMG: Avada Car Dealer News]
If you’re looking to get your commercial driver’s license (CDL), you’ll first need to decide which category you fall into.
There are three categories of CDLs, with each one allowing you to operate a different subset of vehicles. The Class 2 CDL allows you to operate vehicles that fall under two subcategories: Straight trucks and buses. In this blog post, we’ll give you an overview of what a Class 2 CDL entails and some of the common pathwaysto obtaining one.

The Two Types of Vehicles You Can Operate with a Class 2 CDL
As we mentioned, the Class 2 CDL allows you to operate two types of vehicles: straight trucks and buses. Let’s take a look at each one in turn.
Straight trucks are the simpler of the two vehicle types. They are exactly what they sound like—trucks that travel in a straight line! Most straight trucks have a cargo area that is either enclosed or open-air, and they typically don’t weigh more than 26,000 pounds (11,793 kilograms). If you’re looking to operate a straight truck, you’ll need to obtain a Class 2 CDL with an “N” endorsement.
Buses, on the other hand, come in many different forms. Some common examples include city buses, school buses, coach buses, and intercity buses. Buses can weigh up to 80,000 pounds (36287 kilograms), making them much heavier than straight trucks. As such, operating a bus requires additional training and expertise. If you want to add a bus to your list of vehicle types, you’ll need to obtain a Class 2 CDL with both an “N” and “P” endorsement.
Pathways to Obtaining Your Class 2 CDL
There are many different pathways that you can take in order to obtain your Class 2 CDL. The most common way is to take a certified training course offered by a professional driving school. Many community colleges also offer these types of courses. Once you’ve completed the training course and passed the written exam, you’ll be able to take the road test and earn your license.
Another option is to obtain on-the-job training from an employer who is willing to sponsor your training. This option is less common but can be helpful if you’re having trouble finding an affordable training course or if you learn best through hands-on experience.
If you’re interested in obtaining your commercial driver’s license (CDL), the first thing you need to do is decide which category you fall into. The three categories of CDLs are Class A, B, and C—with each one allowing you operate a different subset of vehicles. In this blog post, we gave an overview of what it means to have a Class 2 CDL—which allows drivers operate vehicles that fall under two subcategories: Straight trucks and buses—and some of thecommon pathways for obtaining one.

Thank you to Dave and Patryk for helping me achieve my HGV Class 2 Licence. Fantastic service for a fantastic price. Will certainly be coming back to do my Class 1 in the near future. Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Booked a refresher training course with Retro Commercial Training.
Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

1. Immediately replace the ‘Avada Car Dealership’ meta-description with custom text relevant to HGV training. 2. Standardize review statistics across all headings to match the verified Google count and include a direct link to the profile. 3. Localize or rewrite the blog content to use UK terminology (Category C instead of CDL, Tonnes instead of Pounds). 4. Add official DVSA registration numbers and trainer bios to the ‘About’ or footer sections to bridge the authority gap.

The site technically aligns with the HGV/Commercial Driving school category, but significant portions of the content (specifically the blog) utilize US-based terminology like ‘CDL’ and weight measurements in ‘pounds,’ suggesting a failure to localize or vet educational content for a UK audience.

“The score of 55 is primarily driven by technical neglect (Step 5) and the commodity fingerprint (Step 4), specifically the use of default theme text. Conflicting review numbers in Step 3 also heavily penalized the score, though the inclusion of specific HGV form types and instructor names in Step 1 prevented a higher (worse) score.”
