Western International School (WIS) opened its doors on September 1, 2003, and since has experienced exponential growth every year. In 2003, we recruited 262 students from Kingderten to grade 11 with only 1 campus. For Academic Year 2019-2020, nearly 7561 students enrolled from Nursery to Grade 12 and we have 16 Campuses in Phnom Penh Takhmao and Sihanouk Branch.

Students are to be treated with respect and dignity. In return, they must demonstrate respect for themselves, for others, and for the responsibilities of citizenship through acceptable behavior. Respect and responsibility are demonstrated when a student:

Comes to school prepared on time, and ready to learn.
Shows respect for others and for those in authority.
Refrains from bringing anything to school that may compromise the safety of others.
Exercises self-discipline, and follows established rules.
Be courteous to fellow students and obedient to teachers.

Student shall be admitted to Western International School as follows:

Pre-K and K students are not required to take an Admission Test. They are grouped according to their English ability and age.
First graders shall be at least six years old. A Placement Test may be required for first grade students. If their English is not at the required standard, they may be downgraded to Kindergarten. A birth certificate is also required for first graders.
Students entering second grade or higher shall have adequate valid documents from previous schools which prove that they have successfully completed their prior courses of study and shall pass the Admission Test at WIS.

Campuses of WIS have good and well set-up libraries. They consist of hall filled with shelves and bookstands. The room is airy and spacious. Lots of students can use it at the same time. The librarian’s office is situated at the entrance.

There are over a thousand books in each of our library, such as Plaza and Sunway Campuses. At Plaza Campus, it was established about a decade ago. There are books on every subject including history, geography, science, civics, commerce, English language and literature, computer, general knowledge, etc. There are also a good number of reference books which is a real help for students. Each shelf contains a particular category of books.

Students can also borrow any book of the library with the permission of the librarian. The middle section of the Library serves as Students Reading space. Students can read them during the recess time.
