Direct Air Capture: Groundbreaking technology in the Permian

Construction is underway for our first Direct Air Capture (DAC) plant, STRATOS, in the Permian Basin. When construction is complete, it will be the largest facility of its kind in the world. Oxy formed 1PointFive, a development company, to finance and deploy Carbon Engineering's large-scale DAC technology for this groundbreaking project.

Goldsmith: Powering our field operations with solar to reduce carbon intensity

In 2019, Oxy completed construction of its Goldsmith Solar Plant: a 16 MW photovoltaic solar field with the distinction of being Texas’ first large-scale solar facility powering oil and gas operations. Today the 174,000-panel solar farm directly powers our EOR operations in the Goldsmith, Texas area and reduces indirect energy use GHG emissions (Scope 2) in our operations by reducing the need for consumption of grid power.

Oxy is partnering with Cemvita Factory to develop advanced chemistry that will prevent CO2 from being emitted by using it as a feedstock for sustainable production of vital chemicals and polymers. Goldsmith: Powering our field operations with solar to reduce carbon intensity

In 2019, Oxy completed construction of its Goldsmith Solar Plant: a 16 MW photovoltaic solar field with the distinction of being Texas’ first large-scale solar facility powering oil and gas operations. Today the 174,000-panel solar farm directly powers our EOR operations in the Goldsmith, Texas area and reduces indirect energy use GHG emissions (Scope 2) in our operations by reducing the need for consumption of grid power.

Cemvita Factory: Giving CO₂ a greater purpose and in turn reducing emissions

Oxy is partnering with Cemvita Factory to develop advanced chemistry that will prevent CO2 from being emitted by using it as a feedstock for sustainable production of vital chemicals and polymers. Once constructed, the pilot plant will employ an alternate bio-ethylene production process that uses only CO2, water and light, greatly reducing manufacturing costs and carbon emissions.
