When you're taking out your mortgage, your lender will usually request that you also take out a mortgage protection policy. But what is it? It's a cheaper form of life cover, designed to help pay your outstanding mortgage balance if the worst were to happen. So you know your family are secure in the home they love. See the mortgage protection brochure for further details. Get a mortgage protection quote [H2] How does mortgage protection work? When you take out a mortgage, your loan provider will insist you have enough life cover in place to repay the outstanding amount if you die within the term of your mortgage. This is a cost effective type of life insurance cover, as the life cover amount reduces over the term of the mortgage/policy. However, to give you further protection, you can combine your life cover with serious illness cover. This gives you protection for a number of specified serious illnesses. When you take out a Mortgage Protection plan, you’ll pay a premium each month for the length of your policy. Your mortgage protection plan helps pay off your outstanding mortgage if you die before the end of the term. It’s designed to work along side your mortgage, as the amount of cover reduces (by a fixed percentage) over time as you pay off your mortgage. As you would expect, because your cover decreases over the term, this type of life insurance is usually cheaper than cover which does not decrease throughout the term of the policy. The cost of your Mortgage Protection cover will depend on: the size of your mortgage - this determines the amount of cover you need whether you add a conversion option whether you add specified illness cover the length of your mortgage – this determines the term of your plan your age whether you are a smoker or non-smoker your current state of health whether you take out the plan by yourself or jointly with your partner [H3] Additional cover You can get even more peace of mind by adding specified illness cover to your mortgage protection policy. This means that if you are diagnosed and proven to have a specified illness or if you die, your benefit will be paid. About specified illness cover. 🔗 Identity & Technical Layer — schema JSON-LD: identity chains, entity gaps (Identity & Authority)
Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Financial Services, Banking & Insurance BS: Aviva Ireland (aviva.ie)
Aviva Ireland is a functionally dense site that provides legitimate substance but is hampered by a significant direct-vs-broker messaging conflict. It is a Moderate BS site primarily due to its heavy reliance on standard corporate template language and a total lack of modern structured data or identity schema.
Resolve the messaging conflict between the Life & Pensions page (claims no direct sales) and the Mortgage Protection page (promotes Aviva Direct). Implement Organization and Person schema to validate the authority of the brand and its named internal experts. Replace template-driven H2 headings with benefit-specific headers that reference unique value props like Aviva Care or the Telematics app. Add outbound links to third-party review platforms to substantiate the internal review counts.
The site fits the Financial Services and Insurance classification perfectly, offering a wide array of products from car and home insurance to retirement planning and mortgage protection.
“The score of 43 is driven largely by the Semantic Coherence (8/20) and Identity/Authority (12/15) pillars. The messaging disconnect regarding direct sales and the absence of technical schema significantly offset the high Information Density provided by the site's specific payout and pricing data.”
This training module utilizes a snapshot of public data from Aviva Ireland, captured on June 21, 2026, to demonstrate how machine logic evaluates different types of business narratives.
Purpose: This data is presented under “Fair Use” / “Educational Exception” for the purpose of forensic semantic analysis, allowing users to compare human intuition against machine-generated evaluations.
