The Irish Parachute Club (IPC) is located in Clonbullogue, County Offaly, in Ireland. It was founded in 1956 by wartime paratrooper Freddie Bond and began operations at Weston airfield in Leixlip, training several teams for international competition. During the harsh winter of 1962, the IPC parachuted emergency supplies to snowbound farms in the Wicklow Mountains.The club later operated from a number of locations before establishing a drop zone in 1974 at Tokn Grass, west of Edenderry. The first club aircraft, a Cessna 172, was bought in the same year. In 1983, a Cessna 206 was bought and, in 1988, the club moved to its current location at Clonbullogue Airfield.There have been important developments more recently including the construction of hangars and other buildings, the purchase of a Pilatus PC-6 Porter turbine aircraft, and the setting of several Irish skydiving records including a 51 person formation in July 2008. The IPC operates on weekends and bank holidays, and offers tandem skydiving, Accelerated Freefall, Static Line Parachuting, and training programmes.Clonbullogue Airfield is a small Irish airport located about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) west of Clonbollogue and 6 NM (11 km; 6.9 mi) south of Edenderry in County Offaly, Ireland. It is owned and operated by the Irish Parachute Club which is based at the field. The airfield has one grass runway which is the largest grass runway in Europe running east – west which is 770 by 18 m (2,526 by 59 ft). Six aircraft are based at the field, most of them owned by the Irish Parachute Club.There is usually busy parachuting at weekends and public holidays so flying restrictions are enforced around this area.The Irish Parachute Club has 56 years experience of sport parachuting. In excess of 12,000 jumps are made annually at our club, which is run by skydivers for skydivers. We train people from first jump to International Competition Levels. After your first jump we at the Irish Parachute Club hope you will continue in the exciting sport of skydiving and the associated social life which has an international dimension. We have our own fleet of aircraft and use the most modern up to date parachuting equipment. Go to Top

Maverick Award Winning JumperI did my first jump (static line) on the 22nd of June 1995 and I remember every bit of it, I was hooked from then on.While traveling over an 8 year period, I obtained multiple rating such as, Jump Master, Coach, Static Line Instructor, Tandem Master, Drop Zone Safety Officer, Reserve Packer and Chief Instructor.These days I mainly do Tandems and Deputy Chief Instructor.

A USPA (United States Parachute Association) AFF (Accelerated Free Fall) instructor.My first jump was in 1992, and I jumped for the Irish Cancer Society in memory of my 36yr old uncle-in-law.Since then, I’ve jumped with my daughter, and have trained an 89-year-old man to do his first static line jump which just proves it is never too late – he loved it!Skydiving is an unreal experience, you can meet loads of new people and travel all over the world with your passion. So GO FOR IT!

Tandem instructorMy first jump was in 2003, and it was a static line jump.Most memorable jump, due to the fact it was so unique among my other jumps, was a water jump into Blessington lake. Had to undergo water training sessions in the swimming pool, to ensure safe exit from the harness after landing. It was from 3500ft, so action packed from start to finish.My advice to anyone jumping is to relax and enjoy yourself, trust and listen to your instructor as they will keep you safe.

Solo instructorFirst Jump: 1986 and it was a static line with the old fashioned round canopy.Most memorable jump was the unstable exit, purely for the uncontrolled and surprisingly gradual tumble – really enjoyable too! Now 700 jumps in, I find Ireland is hard bet for a jump when the sun shines on us.Advice is safety first. If you are not ready or don’t feel ready there is always other jump options. Then of course get comfortable and enjoy!
