The Legend According to legend, Frangelico’s origins date back more than 300 years to the presence of Christian monks living in the hills of the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Their skills in fine food and drinks included the art of distilling, especially the use of wild hazelnuts and other precious ingredients to create liquor recipes such as the one on which Frangelico is based today. Frangelico’s name is also part of the same local legend – an abbreviation of Fra’ Angelico, a hermit monk believed to have inhabited the magnificent Piedmont hills during the 18th century. HOW IT IS MADE POSSIBLE HAZELNUTS Italian hazelnuts are harvested, shelled, toasted and crushed. They are then infused in a solution of alcohol and water. DISTILLATION The hazelnut infusion is distilled to produce a natural hazelnut distillate. FLAVOURING The hazelnut distillate is blended with extract and distillates from cocoa seeds, vanilla berries, roasted coffee and other flavoring preparations to create the Frangelico concentrate. BLENDING The concentrate is blended with pure alcohol, sugar and water to achieve the required bottling strength. It is then laid down in vats for 6-8 weeks to allow the blend to marry together and mellow.

Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 2707 businesses audited.
Frangelico has 8.6 points more BS than the average for Food, Restaurants & Delivery.
Food, Restaurants & Delivery BS: Frangelico (frangelico.com)
Frangelico is a heritage brand that technically neglects its digital presence, evidenced by the total absence of H1 headers and structured schema. It relies on 300-year-old folklore to bypass the need for modern proof, creating a moderate BS profile where marketing ‘vibes’ outweigh technical transparency. While the production process is documented, the site’s architecture is a skeleton of generic ‘Urban Experience’ buzzwords.
Immediate implementation of H1 headers on all pages to define the primary content signal. Add Product and Organization schema to the metadata to establish digital authority and brand identity. Replace vague ‘Legend’ claims with verifiable data regarding the Tonda Gentile hazelnut variety and its sourcing in Piedmont. Include third-party proof such as medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition or similar industry bodies.
The site partially matches the Food & Beverage category but operates as a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) alcohol brand rather than a restaurant. It utilizes industry jargon like ‘artisan ingredients’ through the lens of ‘Italian hazelnuts’ and ‘rich Italian heritage,’ aligning with the premium beverage sector’s reliance on provenance.
“The score of 51 is primarily driven by technical identity failures (Identity and Authority) and a total lack of structured data or H1 tags. The Information Density score was mitigated slightly by the specific production steps on the About page, but the heavy reliance on unverifiable legends and commodity marketing cliches keeps the BS score in the 'Moderate' range.”
