​Our eye examinations always allow adequate time to ensure a full and comprehensive examination. Each appointment is individually tailor-made to suit your needs.

We offer full eye health and sight tests as well as our advanced eye examinations that include an OCT scan to give you peace of mind when it comes to your visual health.

In our well equipped consulting rooms, we explain every detail of your eye test and our findings in a language you can understand.

If you are experiencing difficulties with your vision, our investigations will concentrate on finding out the cause of the problem and giving you the appropriate advice or treatment.

As part of your eye test we recommend taking an image of your retina using our retinal photography equipment. This allows us to see up to nine times more of your retina, which helps us to detect any abnormalities or areas of concern.

Retinal photography is especially important if you have diabetes, a family history of glaucoma, ageing at the back of the eye or other eye conditions.

Following your sight test, if we find a difference in your prescription, we will tell you honestly if there is a significant enough change to require the purchase of new spectacles.oct scanning

If you are at risk from an inheritable vision problem in your family, such as glaucoma, we will be particularly vigilant in certain areas of our eye examination and will arrange for additional tests beyond that required for a standard eye examination such as an OCT Scan.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a type of scan that gives us a clearer idea of your eye health.

This quick, painless and non-invasive test scans the back of your eye in a similar way to an ultrasound. The scanner emits waves of light to create a highly defined picture of the structural layers in your eye, including your optic nerve and macula.

An OCT scan helps optometrists to identify, diagnose and provide treatment for serious eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Stephens & Drew Opticians have a long history of delivering superb eye care in Cleethorpes.

Our practices started out separately in the town; Stephens Opticians were established in the early 1960s and Drew Opticians in the late 1950s.

In April 2020 we joined forces to become Stephens and Drew Opticians, pooling our years of knowledge and expertise to continue to provide eye care services that the whole family can trust.
