Cyclone Microsystems' PCI Express Expansion System allows system developers to expand one host PCI Express slot to multiple additional PCI Express Slots over a x8 or x16 expansion cable. The expansion cable support bandwidths from 40 Gb/s (x8 Gen2), to 80 Gb/s (x16 Gen2), and up to 160 Gb/s on our newest dual HBA adapter x16 Gen2 products.
This capability enables the coupling of cost-effective host computers with a high bandwidth, peer-to-peer capable I/O subsystem.
Cyclone's PCI Express Expansion Systems includes a host bus adapter, an expansion cable, and an expansion backplane mounted in an industrial rack mount chassis. A one or three meter cable connects to a gowing list of available PCI Express Expansion Systems.

Cyclone currently supports Expansion Systems with four, seven, eight, fourteen, and sixteen PCI Express slots. Several products hav support for dual width GPU cards. The Expansion Systems are plug and play solutions that are host operating system agnostic and require no software drivers.
Three generation of Cyclone's PCIe Expansion Systems are deployed in applications as diverse as audio and video editing, data storage, custom embedded systems, seismic exploration, medical imaging, GPU computing farms, and PCIe test fixtures. The common requirement for all these systems is the need to couple a fast server to extensive PCIe I/O slots.

All three product areas enable our customers to focus on the development and manufacture of complex embedded systems in many diverse application fields.
Customers
Cyclone products are deployed in a wide range of industrial applications, customer sizes, and needs. Our products are used in many industrial sectors; telecommunications, video-on-demand, medical imaging, broadband networking, audio and video editing and processing, security, compute farms, industrial process control, and PCIe test platforms. Customer accounts are international and range from IBM, AT&T, Ericsson, Intel, Sprint, Verizon, and the FAA to many innovative small and mid-size equipment developers.
Engineering
Cyclone maintains a sharp focus on our four technical core competencies: industrial bus architectures, high-speed I/O microprocessors, I/O interfaces and real-time operating systems. We continually integrate advances from all four areas into new product combinations. Also, we internally develop Board Support Packages and provide developmental support for Wind River's VxWorks and Linux. This internal expertise allows our hardware and software engineering groups to frequently provide high-level architectural assistance. This assistance allows our customers to effectively leverage our expertise and products toward quickly developing complex systems.
While many customers purchase our standard products, high volume customers frequently benefit from our ability to rapidly optimize our standard products for their unique application. For these customers, we frequently operate as their autonomous hardware group tasked with architectural development, product definition, and hardware and firmware development.
Production
Cyclone products are frequently a component of large, complex systems. Consequently, meeting customer product delivery commitments is as important as the initial product trial. Cyclone operates a closely controlled manufacturing process that insures on-time delivery of quality products. We utilize local assembly subcontractors to assemble the PCBs followed by thoroughly testing and configuring all products on our production floor.
In addition to board level products, Cyclone also produces customer-specific systems incorporating our products complete with Telecommunications NEBS Level III and international regulatory certifications, system documentation, rapid delivery programs, advanced replacement sparing support, and sustaining lifecycle support.
Financial
Since our start in 1986, Cyclone has remained a privately held company, majority owned by Cyclone's management and founders. The company has been consistently profitable and has developed the appropriate working capital to support large production growth opportunities. Our long term view permits us to focus all our attention on developing technology and products to intersect with our customers' future challenges.

Industrial Bus Architectures

Real Time Microprocessors
Cyclone's depth of processor expertise is focused on real-time data movement architectures and high-speed multi-core processors. Freescale's PowerPC processors deliver breakthrough I/O performance to meet the processing requirements for a diverse range of embedded applications.
I/O Interfaces
Cyclone offers specific function boards and modular interfaces to provide a wide range of high-speed I/O interfaces. Interfaces range from Gbit Ethernet to ATM OC-3, ATM OC-12 and T1/E1 Interfaces.
Real-Time Operating System Support
For a project to succeed, hardware must be backed by a comprehensive set of tools and development platforms. Cyclone develops specific device drivers to support VxWorks and Linux 2.6 Operating Systems. Our internal development of all drivers and their integration into effective board support packages allow Cyclone's support engineers to offer an effective and rapid resolution to system development and integration challenges.
For projects not requiring a full RTOS, Cyclone has simplified the task of developing embedded application code and producing boot ROMs with our Breeze Development Environment. The Breeze Development Environment allows rapid use of the Cyclone hardware's capabilities without major programming and debugging efforts.
Regulatory Compliance
Many Cyclone products are used in mission critical telecommunication applications where UL, Telecommunications NEBS Level III, European and International Compliance are required. Cyclone has a proven track record of designing to, and meeting, demanding international regulatory requirements.

In addition to our strong relationship with strategic industry leaders, Cyclone places a high priority on gaining early access to new technology that can help our product development and schedules.
We work closely with other semiconductor providers to insure that our customers have the latest and best hardware, software, and development options for their systems.
