Industry Context — Common BS Fingerprints in Marketing, SEO & Advertising Agencies
Generic Claims: we grow businesses, results that speak for themselves, your marketing partner, proven track record…
Red Flags: guaranteed rankings or specific position promises, case studies with no client names or metrics, proprietary tools that are rebranded free tools, results claims without timeframes or baselines…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims data-driven but case studies show no metrics, claims full-service but team is three people, homepage targets enterprise but case studies are local businesses, claims proprietary methodology but describes standard practices…
Proof Expectations: named client case studies with before-and-after metrics, specific revenue or traffic numbers achieved, verified vendor partnerships with tier levels, team member profiles with specific expertise and career history…

SUB-PAGE (https://baydigital.co.za/2016/09/17/8-ways-promote-mobile-application/) 8 Techniques for Mobile App Marketing | Bay Digital
There a numerous ways to promote an app. This is no easy job and a considerable portion of the budget should be assigned to the marketing component of any mobile project. Having an amazing app is one thing but having no one download and use that amazing app is not cool. Below is some tips and advice on how to get your app from a lousy 10 downloads to a few thousand downloads.
[H3] 1. App review sites and App Directories
Here is a comprehensive list of review sites with links to the contact pages. Avoid the ones which request money, i suggest working your way from the bottom up, more chance of getting a review. Install an add-on to your browser to check page rank. Page rank 3 and up is worthwhile. Better to have quality backlinks than tons of useless ones with no value. Try to get reviews on some of these bigger sites ,some also offer advertising on their site, thats another avenue to look into. Here are some tips for asking for a review.
[H3] 2. Free and Commercial App
From what I’ve read I definitely think that you should have both a free and paid version. Free version should be limited in levels or functionality, perhaps 10 levels for a game. Enough to want them to buy the full app. Plus you can also generate revenue using ads in the free version.
[H3] 3. SEO Content Writer
I’d also suggest finding a seo content writer. Outsourcing this is a viable option particularly if your app is targeted at a specific region. The content writer should be able to write good semantic keyword rich articles for you. You can use the articles a few times when doing submissions to the review sites, directory sites, on the app store in your game description and on your own site.
[H3] 4. Social Marketing
Facebook, twitter, google plus and linkedin all generate great traffic and you be spend time on social networks building a following and promoting your app. Believe it or not but you can actually pay a celebrity to post a tweet for you. They have huge followings and this is a fantastic way to generate some downloads for your app, if you do decide to go this route then choose wisely as it does come at a hefty price. There is also some popular developers and tech guys out there who also have big followings. Also consider putting social sharing in the app itself. Perhaps on the home screen or do prompts as you would with the rating. One last thing, help others, promote for them and they will return the favour.
[H3] 5. App Icon and App Name
Here is a guideline for creating your app’s icon. Perhaps measure your icon against these. From personal experience, I do tend to download my apps based on the icon. if its not too late to change your app name, consider including keywords in your app name as you would rank higher for those keywords. It seems to be like a website page title, if the keyword are in the title then it gets a higher ranking.
[H3] 6. App Store Analytics
Keeping track of how many people is visiting your page is essential to your marketing endeavours. If you cannot measure your goals then its a pointless exercise. You could be successful in your marketing efforts of driving traffic to the page but people are not purchasing your app due poor marketing on the page. Check our mobiledevhq and appannie which can help measure stats.
[H3] 7. Incredible Website
You have ab incredible app, you need an incredible website to match it. Hey here some examples of awesome app landing pages, I think they awesome, maybe yours just needs a few tweaks. Minimalistic with slider on the left with info and app store link on the right. Further down, you can fill the page with keyword rich information (provided by the SEO content writer). The site has got be responsive as well. All the social networks that you have must be on the site as well. I’d use something like http://www.hellobar.com/ as well to grab attention. It stands out very well.
If you want to buy a template then themeforest has some really excellent and cheap templates for sale.
[H3] 8. Paid Services
Definitely check out admob and flurry. Try to advertise on there, seems to be the most popular ad services for iphone.

[H2] Conclusion
Marketing your app is fundamental to the success of any project and there are numerous ways of doing this. All of the above requires time and dedication, none of which will work overnight wonders. Marketing and promoting your app is an on-going process that needs to be carried out for several months. Good Luck!

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Marketing, SEO & Advertising Agencies BS: Bay Digital (baydigital.co.za)

https://baydigital.co.za 📍 Industry: Marketing, SEO & Advertising Agencies
69 BS / 100

Bay Digital presents as a ‘ghost agency’—a site that has not been substantively updated or technically audited since 2016 while still claiming to lead in a fast-moving technical industry. The combination of stale content, egregious typos in core service titles, and suspicious comment counts results in a high BS score. It functions more as a static brochure for a likely inactive or neglected brand than a functioning agency.

Immediately correct the spelling of ‘Optimization’ in all H5 service headers on the homepage. Remove the industry-wide internet statistics and replace them with agency-specific metrics like ‘Lead Generation for X Clients’ or ‘Average Traffic Growth.’ Purge the blog of the suspicious 18,000+ comment counts or disable the comment counter to eliminate the ‘trust theatre’ flag. Add at least three named client case studies with before-and-after metrics from the last 24 months to address the 120-month content delta.

The site content aligns with a standard Digital Marketing and SEO agency profile, specifically targeting the South African market as indicated by the landscape statistics. However, the technical execution and content recency are significantly below industry standards for an SEO specialist.

“The score of 69 is primarily driven by the 'Trust and Proof' and 'Identity and Authority' pillars. The 10-year gap in content recency (temporal delta) significantly penalizes all substance claims. The technical errors (typos in H5 tags) on the homepage further erode the credibility of the 'SEO Agency' signal, moving it from a professional service to a commodity-level placeholder.”
