Interactive Features [H2] How Smart Software Reads, Analyzes, Routes and Responds [H2] Interactive In The News [IMG: EchoMail® - The Future of EMAIL] [H2] The Future of Email by Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai Email, the system I invented in 1978, while a 14-year-old boy, to enable collaboration and communication among office workers at a small medical college in Newark, NJ, has now become the center of many controversies. For their 125th Anniversary issue, The Wall Street Journal commissioned me as email’s inventor to write a brief essay entitled The Future of Email. That article shared what email really is and where email is heading. More recently, The New York Times interviewed me to comment on Hillary Clinton’s use of personal email server to manage classified U.S. government communications. In that article, I shared that the use of a personal email server was extraordinary, wrong and clearly a well-planned strategy by Ms. Clinton to deny the American public’s rightful access to communications that were government property. This book is a much-needed expansion of those thoughts and comments to provide you important insights to where email is going and why you as citizens must take action to protect this important medium, which has been subverted by vested interests Order Now! Shiva Ayyadurai The Email Revolution traces the story behind one of the most important innovations of the last century – and how companies can use it to strengthen their relationships with customers. In 1978, fourteen-year-old technology prodigy VA Shiva Ayyadurai invented email. He would go on to win the White House competition for filtering email for the Clinton administration and then to create email management software for companies like Nike, AT&T, Procter & Gamble, and JCPenney. He discovered that email offered a unique opportunity to mine data and build relationships with customers – an opportunity of which many organizations were failing to take advantage. Order Now! Founder [IMG: EchoMail® | Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai, the Inventor of Email and Systems Scientist] Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai, the inventor of email and polymath, holds four degrees from MIT, is a world-renowned systems scientist, inventor and entrepreneur. He is a Fulbright Scholar, Lemelson-MIT Awards Finalist, India’s First Outstanding Scientist and Technologist of Indian Origin, Westinghouse Science Talent Honors Award recipient, and a nominee for the U.S. National Medal of Technology and Innovation. His love of medicine and complex systems began in India when he became intrigued with medicine at the age of five as he observed his grandmother, a farmer and healer in the small village of Muhavur in South India, apply Siddha, India’s oldest system of traditional medicine, to heal and support local villagers. These early experiences inspired him to pursue the study of modern systems science, information technology and eastern and traditional systems of medicine to develop an integrative framework linking eastern and western systems of medicine. In 1978, as a precocious 14-year-old, after completing a special program in computer science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Science at NYU, Ayyadurai was recruited by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) as a Research Fellow, where he developed the first electronic emulation of the entire interoffice mail system (Inbox, Outbox, Folders, Address Book, Memo, etc.), which he named “EMAIL,” to invent the world’s first email system, resulting in him being awarded the first United States Copyright for Email, Computer Program for Electronic Mail System, at a time when Copyright was the only protection for software inventions.Ayyadurai went on to receive four degrees from MIT, including a bachelors in electrical engineering and computer science, and a dual master’s degree in mechanical engineering and visual studies from the MIT Media Laboratory. In 2003, he returned to MIT to complete his doctoral work in systems biology within the Department of Biological Engineering, where he developed CytoSolve®, a scalable computational platform for modeling the cell by dynamic integration of molecular pathways models. Following his doctoral work, he returned to India on a Fulbright, where he discovered the systems theoretic basis of eastern systems of medicine, resulting in Systems Health®, a new educational program that provides a scientific foundation of integrative medicine. While at MIT, he also developed a pioneering new course called Systems Visualization which integrates systems theory, narrative story telling, metaphor and data visualization to provide visualization of complex systems.Today, he is the Chairman & CEO of CytoSolve, Inc. CytoSolve provides a revolutionary platform for modeling complex diseases as well as for discovering multi-combination therapeutics. His recent efforts at CytoSolve have led to an FDA allowance and exemption for a multi-combination drug for pancreatic cancer, development of innovative nutraceutical products, as well as numerous industry and academic partnerships. Ayyadurai’s earlier research on pattern recognition and large-scale systems development also resulted in multiple patents, numerous industry awards, commercial products such as Interactive and scientific and industry publications. He serves as Executive Director of the International Center for Integrative Systems (ICIS), a non-profit research and education foundation, located in Cambridge. He has started and successfully several start-up companies. Following his winning of a White House competition to automatically analyze and sort mail President Clinton’s email, Ayyadurai started Interactive, Inc. which grew to nearly $200 million in market valuation. He has appeared in The MIT Technology Review, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, NBC News, USA Today and other major media. Shiva was named Top 40 in the Improper Bostonian. He has also authored four books on the Internet and EMAIL: Arts and the Internet, The Internet Publicity Guide, The Email Revolution, and Systems Health which will be coming out in 2015. Ayyadurai continues his passion for entrepreneurialism as Managing Director of General Interactive, a venture fund that incubates, mentors and funds new startups in various areas including rural healthcare, media, biotechnology, information technology, to name a few. He has also started Innovation Corps to fuel innovation among teenagers worldwide. He serves as a consultant to CEOs and Executive Management at Fortune 1000 companies, as well as government organizations such as the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General.Ayyadurai is a member of Sigma-Xi, Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi. He supports the Shanthi Foundation, which raises money to provide scholarships for education of orphaned girls. He is also a supporter of various arts and non-profit organizations including the Guggenheim Museum, Very Special Arts, National Public Radio and the National Geographic Society. Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Marketing, SEO & Advertising Agencies BS: EchoMail (Interactive, Inc.) (interactive.com)
Interactive.com is a digital museum piece functioning as a trust-theatre engine for its founder’s legacy. While it possesses genuine technical artifacts like patents, the gap between its 1993 ‘pioneer’ status and its 2026 ‘SMB solution’ claims is filled with stale air and an empty pricing page. It is less a marketing agency and more a historical archive of a CRM that time—and its own webmaster—forgot to update.
Populate the Pricing page immediately with clear, granular engagement structures to eliminate the ‘ghost site’ signal. Remove Global 2000 logos from the 1990s if no current contract exists, or re-contextualize them clearly as ‘Historical Milestones’ rather than ‘Current Clients.’ Add Person schema for the rest of the ‘MIT technologists’ mentioned to close the authority gap. Implement a H1 tag on every page that defines the specific, current value proposition for the 2026 market.
The site partially fits the agency category but functions primarily as a legacy SaaS platform for email management. While it claims to offer marketing and social media monitoring, the content is heavily weighted toward inbound CRM and historical software licensing rather than modern agency service models.
“The score of 50 is driven by the extreme Trust Theatre (18/20) and the technical/authority gaps (9/15), mitigated only by the site's refusal to use modern 'growth hacking' agency clichés, opting instead for its own unique brand of historical BS. The empty Pricing page and the absence of H1 tags on key pages significantly penalized the Semantic Coherence and Identity pillars.”
