The Rowan University Profs are heading back to the Division III Softball Championship for the fourth consecutive season after shutting out Colby College, 3-0, Friday afternoon in the Glassboro Super Regional.
An early two-run blast from Ava Fisher and another dominant pitching performance helped punch Rowan’s ticket back to Salem, Virginia.
The Profs wasted no time jumping on the Mules. Batting as the designated away team in Game 2, Zoey Rogers reached base and came around to score after Fisher crushed a pitch on the outer half over the right field fence to give Rowan an early, 2-0 lead.
“We got the home run ball, which we don’t always get a lot of, but that was a big deal,” head coach Kim Wilson said.
The home run also allowed Rowan to execute a pitching plan Wilson and her staff had discussed before first pitch. Although Emily McCutcheon was listed as the starter, Wilson immediately turned to BethAnne Doderer after the first inning.
“That was the plan,” Wilson said. “We knew Beth was going to have to throw if we advanced.”
Doderer delivered in a huge spot for the Profs. The sophomore tossed 3.2 scoreless innings while allowing six hits and only one walk. Colby threatened multiple times, including bases-loaded situations, but Rowan’s defense repeatedly came through.
“I thought everything was clicking,” Wilson said. “Whether it was defense or catching, we were able to shut them down.”
The Profs added another insurance run in the third inning when Kate Evick lined an RBI single up the middle scoring Rogers and extending the lead to 3-0.
McCutcheon returned to the circle later in the game and slammed the door shut. The senior struck out four and only allowed one hit over the final 3.1 innings as Rowan completed back-to-back shutouts against the Mules.
“Honestly, just trusting my defense,” McCutcheon said. “Everybody knows they’re going to make plays behind me.”
Defensively, Rowan once again looked elite. Freshman left side infielders Rogers and Maggie Funston made several difficult plays throughout the afternoon despite Funston battling through two errors earlier in the game.
“I think Maggie [Funston] and I do a really good job of calming each other down,” Rogers said. “Our upperclassmen always have our backs.”
The victory sends Rowan back to the Division III College World Series for the third straight year and marks the fourth consecutive trip to Salem for the Profs senior class.
“It’s really cool to see all the rookies celebrate it,” McCutcheon said. “We’ve had four different teams going there over the years, so being able to create that impact on them is really special.”
Now Rowan turns its attention toward Salem with momentum and confidence after another dominant postseason showing.
“We’re a complete team,” Wilson said. “I think we have the opportunity to do something special.”

Rowan Baseball and Super Regionals go together for the fourth time in five years.
The Profs defeated the hosting Huskies at Ed Flaherty Field on Monday, 13-8, in this spring’s NCAA Southern Maine Regional final to extend their run on the national stage.
“The hardest [NCAA Regional] is the first one, and then once you win it, you learn how you need to be able to coach and the players that you need to have in your program,” head coach Mike Dickson said.
A, 6-0, advantage for Rowan was quickly cut to one run as the Profs went to bat in the bottom of the seventh inning. When it comes to big moments, it seems as if junior Brayden Davis was ready to make another memory.
“If you want a guy up with runners in scoring position in a big moment, he’s the guy you want up because he’s going to get it done,” Dickson said. “He learned from Phil [Sedalis] and Ty [Cannon] and Jason Morgan last year, how to play the game the right way and how to lead.”
Lighting struck twice for Davis, with the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Year blasting his second grand slam in as many days to give the Profs an assertive, 12-5, lead. Davis finished the NCAA Regional with video game numbers — 7-for-13, 15 RBIs, three home runs.
The junior shortstop wasn’t finished yet, as Dickson opted to put his star on the mound in the top of the ninth inning. In his first appearance all season, two runs came across, but Davis showed off two-way capabilities to close the door on a Southern Maine rally.
“We knew he could throw strikes, he threw a lot as a freshman [and] he threw a little bit last year,” Dickson said. “We keep him throwing all year long for that type of moment.”
Christian Rice went 5.1 innings and struck out ten Huskies in his third start — his most since transferring to Rowan as a junior last spring. The Profs did need to shuffle through more relievers than anticipated, yet, sophomore Evan Brasberger assured that wasn’t an issue after getting out of a seventh inning jam and allowing only one run in the eighth.
“Brasberger did a great job… that was a big moment in the game,” Dickson said. “It was a, 6-5, game at the time and, you know, we were able to score a bunch the next inning but without him shutting that [seventh] inning down, who knows where that game goes.”
Monday’s ballgame proved to be a more desperate effort from the Huskies after their, 18-7, loss to Rowan a day prior. The Profs needed just one win to advance while Southern Maine needed two games to go their way.
“They’re a really good team in their home ballpark, so they’re going to be tough to beat, especially if you got to beat them twice in their home ballpark,” Dickson said.
The brown and gold are leaving Gorham, Maine, with an undefeated reign, winning three consecutive games at Ed Flaherty Field. Rowan improves to 35-5 on the season, just three wins away from their total of last year’s College World Series team.
Starting this Friday, NCAA tournament action runs through Glassboro as the Profs are set to host their first Super Regional. Randolph Macon will be Rowan’s opposition in a three game series that will decide who earns a trip to the Division III College World Series in Eastlake, Ohio.
“Got to pack the nest,” Dickson said. “It’s exciting to host our first super regional there.”

The Profs deactivated home field advantage for the hosting Southern Maine Huskies on Sunday afternoon. No. 4 Rowan won their second game of the NCAA Regional, 18-7, at Ed Flaherty Field in Gorham, Maine, to advance to the Regional Final.
Southern Maine was victorious in their NCAA opener on Saturday against Babson, 11-7, and had only lost twice at home entering the tournament. The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) champions, however, wasted no time pouncing on the Huskies in search of their 34th win this spring.
Single… single… single… hit by pitch… sacrifice fly… double — that’s how the bottom of the first inning began for the Profs.
A total of seven hits, highlighted by junior Joey Bogart’s two-run base knock, quickly translated into seven runs to put Rowan ahead in an instant. Bogart reached a new career-high on Sunday, tallying four RBIs to his name.
If that wasn’t enough damage dealt already, with the Profs up, 14-5, by the bottom of the eighth, junior Brayden Davis wanted the cherry on top — a grand slam. It was his second home run in as many games to open his 2026 NCAA tournament account in style. Davis is 5-for-9 with nine RBIs in the regional.
Sophomore starter Austin Kreyenhagen threw 104 pitches in five innings, allowing five runs yet striking out seven Huskies in the process. Southern Maine did blast two homers on the day, but offensive prowess gave the Profs cushions they needed to feel comfortable frame to frame.
Rowan now finds themselves one step closer to reaching the NCAA Super Regional round for the fourth time in five years. The one opponent standing in their way — a rematch with Southern Maine on Monday.
The Huskies need to win twice while Rowan is just a win away.
