[H3] mRNA could revolutionize medicine
Scientists have been studying mRNA for decades. And mRNA vaccines are just the start.
[H3] It's all about proteins
An mRNA can teach the body how to make a specific protein that can help your immune system prevent or treat certain diseases.
[H2] You are made of proteins
Your body contains trillions of cells, the basic units of life. And every cell contains proteins.
[IMG: Science - Molecules - Clean]
[H3] What proteins do
Proteins are the "workhorses" of your cells. And your body makes >100,000 different kinds of proteins.
[H3] How proteins work
For example, insulin is a protein that helps the body control sugar levels in the blood. In people with type 1 diabetes, their body doesn't make enough insulin.
[H3] Why proteins are important
When the body doesn’t make the right amount or type of protein, it can cause conditions like cancer or metabolic diseases.
[H3] Why we focus on proteins
Proteins are essential for maintaining health and preventing disease.
[H2] Your cells are protein factories
Proteins are made in a process called protein synthesis. And that's where mRNA comes in.What is mRNA?What does it do?How does it help make a protein? What happens after a protein is made?
[H3] What is mRNA?
Messenger RNA–or mRNA–exists in all of the cells in your body. It is an essential component of all living organisms and has been in cells for billions of years.
[IMG: Graphical representation of bodies cells]
[H3] What does it do?
Just like its name suggests, mRNA is a messenger. It interacts with other components in cells that help create proteins.
[IMG: Graphical representation of human body]
[H3] How does it help make a protein?
Each mRNA carries instructions to make a specific protein. These instructions are like a “blueprint.” mRNA delivers these instructions, and cells put the protein together.
[IMG: Graphical representation of mRNA breaking apart]
[H3] What happens after a protein is made?
Once its job is done, an mRNA is broken down by the body. It doesn’t stick around for very long.1/4
[H2] mRNA teaches the body how to make its own medicine
Scientists design each mRNA to give cells directions to make a particular protein.
[H3] 1. Making an mRNA medicine
To protect the mRNA and help deliver it into cells, the mRNA is wrapped with lipids, or fats.
[H3] 2. Deliver mRNA into the body
mRNA vaccines are given as an injection. Future mRNA treatments might be delivered by an infusion.
[H3] 3. Creating the right protein
Once the vaccine is delivered, the body takes over and makes the protein according to the mRNA’s instructions.
[H3] 4. Breaking it down
mRNA doesn’t stay in the body very long once its job is done. And it does not cause permanent changes or alter DNA.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

28 BS / 100

Moderna delivers a high-substance digital presence that successfully anchors its ‘future of medicine’ rhetoric in verifiable pipeline metrics and manufacturing transparency. It is one of the rare instances where ‘disruptive’ claims are supported by a decade of clinical data and real-time operational evidence.

To reduce the BS score further, Moderna should implement Person schema with sameAs links for all named ‘changemakers’ to verify their professional footprints. The Patents section should be upgraded from a footer link to a substantive page listing specific patent numbers and statuses. Finally, replacing the ‘review_count’ with links to peer-reviewed study citations on the mRNA science page would eliminate any perception of trust theatre.

The site content perfectly aligns with the Pharma & Biotech industry classification. It provides detailed technical explanations of mRNA mechanisms, clinical trial counts, and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

“The score of 28 is driven primarily by industry clichés and the 'trust theatre' of unverified review counts. The site lost points in Commodity Fingerprint for its use of generic pharma slogans, but its Information Density and Semantic Coherence are exceptionally strong, keeping the overall BS score in the 'Low' category.”
