[H3] 1. Personalized Knee Implants
Your surgeon will start by selecting the Persona Knee implant that best matches your knee’s anatomy for a precise and personalized implant fit. Then, on the bottom portion of the implant, a small “smart” stem extension is attached. This stem contains sensors that capture information about your knee motion after surgery.

[H3] 2. Motion Data Collection
After surgery, Persona IQ collects activity and motion data
throughout the day including distance, qualified step count, range of
motion, cadence and walking speed.

[H3] 3. Automatic Data Transmission
At night, the motion data collected by your Persona IQ implant is
transmitted automatically to your mymobility® app by the Home Base Station.

After you’ve been enrolled, you’ll receive a welcome packet. This packet will include your Home Base Station, as well as a quick start guide including instructions on activating your account and connecting your Home Base station. The instructions will include Customer Support phone numbers in case you need help during set-up.

[H4] Can the battery hurt me?

Some medical procedures use equipment that introduces electrical currents into your body. These procedures may not be safe with Persona IQ. Inform your healthcare provider that you have a smart implant before any medical procedure.

[H4] How will I see my data?

The data from Persona IQ will be visible on your patient dashboard hosted on the mymobility app. For more details, see the patient materials packaged in your welcome packet.

[H4] Who has access to my data?

Your Persona IQ data will be available to your medical care team and authorized administrators (Zimmer Biomet and Canary Medical). You can also view your information on your mymobility patient app.

[H4] What does the Home Base Station do?

The Home Base Station is a receiver/transmitter that wirelessly communicates with your smart implant. Each night, it receives your daily activity information from Persona IQ and sends it online to your mymobility patient app where you and your doctor view the data.

[H3] Indications and Contraindications

[H5] Indications

The Canary Tibial Extension (CTE) with Canary Health Implanted Reporting Processor (CHIRP) System is intended to provide objective kinematic data from the implanted medical device during a patient’s total knee arthroplasty (TKA) post-surgical care. The kinematic data are an adjunct to other physiological parameter measurement tools applied or utilized by the physician during the course of patient monitoring and treatment post-surgery.

The device is indicated for use in patients undergoing a cemented TKA procedure that are normally indicated for at least a 58 mm sized tibial stem extension.
The objective kinematic data generated by the CTE with CHIRP System are not intended to support clinical decision-making and have not been shown to provide any clinical benefit.
The CTE with CHIRP System is compatible with Zimmer Persona® Personalized Knee System.

[H5] Contraindications

The canturio™ te (CTE) is contraindicated for use in patients who are undergoing procedures or treatments at or in the proximity of the CTE using therapeutic ionizing radiation can result in shortened battery life or premature failure of electronic components. Damage to the CTE by therapeutic ionizing radiation may not be immediately detectable.
Before performing TKA on any patient, consider the following contraindications.

Previous history of infection in the affected joint and/or other local/systemic infection that may affect the prosthetic jointInsufficient bone stock on femoral or tibial surfacesSkeletal immaturityNeuropathic arthropathyOsteoporosis or any loss of musculature or neuromuscular disease that compromises the affected limbA stable, painless arthrodesis in a satisfactory functional positionSevere instability secondary to the absence of collateral ligament integrity
Total Knee Arthroplasty is contraindicated in patients who have rheumatoid arthritis (RA) accompanied by an ulcer of the skin or a history of recurrent breakdown of the skin because their risk of postoperative infection is greater. RA patients using steroids may also have increased risk of infection. Late infections in RA patients have been reported 24+ months postoperative.

[H4] What is Gel-One Hyaluronate Therapy?

Gel-One Hyaluronate therapy relieves knee pain due to osteoarthritis.
Hyaluronan, the key ingredient in Gel-One, is a natural substance found in the fluid within your joints. The body’s own hyaluronan acts like a lubricant and shock absorber in the knee joint and is needed for the joint to work properly.
Gel-One therapy is used for patients who have failed to respond adequately to other therapies, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, e.g. Ibuprofen), or simple pain relievers (Acetaminophen, e.g. Tylenol).

[H4] How quickly will my knee pain go away?

Everyone is unique and therefore the time to feel the effects of
treatment may be different. Typical results have shown that patients
experienced significant knee pain relief in as little as 3 weeks after
receiving Gel-One therapy.4

[H4] How is Gel-One given?

Gel-One is given as a single knee injection directly into the joint space. Your doctor may recommend the use of a local anesthetic to reduce possible discomfort associated with an injection.

[H4] What are the possible complications with Gel-One knee pain relief injections?

Common side effects (also called reactions) are sometimes seen when Gel-One is injected into the knee joint. These can include: knee pain, swelling and/or fluid build-up around the knee4. These reactions are generally mild and do not last long. Reactions are generally treated by resting and applying ice to the injected knee. Sometimes it is necessary to give pain relievers by mouth, such as acetaminophen or NSAIDs, or to give injections of steroids, or to remove fluid from the knee joint.
If any of these symptoms or signs appear after you are given Gel-One Hyaluronate or if you have any other problems, you should call your doctor.

[H4] Is Gel-One an alternative to knee replacement surgery?

When it comes to relieving knee pain, there are many different treatment options. For some people, early intervention treatments such as medication, low-impact exercise, heat/cold therapies, weight management, physical and occupational therapy, assistive devices, bracing, or knee pain relief injections (corticosteroid or hyaluronic) may help restore knee function and reduce pain.
If non-surgical knee treatments fail to relieve your pain and loss of mobility, your doctor may recommend a surgical procedure such as knee replacement surgery. Together, you and your doctor can determine the best treatment options for you.

[H4] What do I need to do after I get the Gel-One injection?

You should be able to resume most of your normal daily activities almost immediately after you receive your knee pain injection therapy. However, you should avoid any strenuous activities for the first 48 hours after treatment, such as jogging, heavy lifting or other active sports and prolonged weight-bearing activities, such as standing on your feet for more than one hour at a time. Please talk with your doctor for specific questions relating to your knee.

[H5] Indications for Use & Important Safety Information

Indications for use
Gel-One Hyaluronate is indicated for the treatment of pain in osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee in patients who have failed to respond adequately to non-pharmacologic therapy, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or simple analgesics, like Acetaminophen.
Important safety information
Before using Gel-One Hyaluronate, tell your doctor if you are allergic to hyaluronan products, cinnamon, or products from birds such as feathers, eggs, and poultry. Gel-One Hyaluronate is only for injection into the knee, performed by a doctor or other qualified health care professional. You should not receive Gel-One Hyaluronate injection if you have a skin disease or infection around the area where the injection will be given. Gel-One Hyaluronate has not been tested to show pain relief in joints other than the knee and for conditions other than OA. Gel-One Hyaluronate has not been tested in patients who are pregnant, mothers who are nursing, or anyone under the age of 21. You should tell your doctor if you think you are pregnant or if you are nursing a child. Talk to your doctor before resuming strenuous or pro-longed weight-bearing activities after treatment. The effectiveness of repeat treatment cycles of Gel-One Hyaluronate has not been established. The side effects most commonly seen after injection of Gel-One Hyaluronate in the clinical trial were knee pain, swelling, and/or fluid build-up around the knee. These reactions are generally mild and do not last long.
