[H2] Veterinary consultations
Our registered, qualified nurses are also available for consultations by appointment. They also offer a wide range of services such as puppy parties, and dental, weight, senior pet and behaviour clinics.  If your pet needs to stay with us, we have completely separate dog, cat and isolation hospitalisation facilities on our purpose-built premises.

[H2] Hospitalisation and surgical procedures
If your pet requires hospitalisation, following surgery or because they require intensive care and treatment, we have separate dog and cat hospitalisation facilities on-site in our purpose built-premises. Within our purpose-built facilities, we have a designated operating theatre which enables us to carry out a wide range of surgical procedures at your convenience. We can also generate our own pure oxygen for our critical patients (even a medium sized dog can exhaust purchased bottles very quickly!), so we have a limitless supply when needed.
[H2] Pet Travel
From the 1st of January 2021 the regulations and requirements for pet travel from the UK to mainland Europe have changed.
Previously issued and accepted UK pet passports will not be accepted as valid for travel to Europe with these changes.

With these changes you will now need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) to travel with your dog, cat or ferret.

These AHCs must be issued by an Official Veterinary Surgeon (2 of our vets are available for this service) and are valid for travel to specific destination states for 10 days from the date of issue. They are valid for return to the UK up to 4 months from the date of issue. An AHC is only valid for one trip.
For your pet to travel with an ACH it must:

Be over 12 weeks of age (16 weeks for some destinations),

Must be microchipped with information up to date

Have had a rabies vaccination at least 21 days prior to the issue of the AHC.

Before you plan to travel please contact the surgery in good time as there is some information we require before we can complete the AHC so we will need this in advance of your appointment.

When you attend your appointment, you will need:

To bring your pet for his/her microchip to be verified,

Proof of a valid, in date rabies vaccine, (UK Pet passport if you have one already issued),

Written authorisation if you will not be accompanying your pet naming the person who will be responsible for them during travel,

Proof of entry to an event if travelling for the purpose of competition.

Please note that the AHC is not for animals that are being sold or used for commercial purposes.
Please note that entry to European countries must be through specific entry points.

In some cases, different countries may have extra requirements such as a valid rabies blood test. More information about which countries this may be should be checked online here as this information changes regularly

Our 24-hour emergency service for our clients means that should your pet require veterinary attention out-of-hours, you do not have to make the stressful journey to an alternative practice in Worcester or Birmingham. We are now the only practice in Kidderminster providing this emergency service” out of hours” on site. We pride ourselves on our purpose-built premises, on-site facilities and large range of diagnostic equipment such as the in-house laboratory and digital X-ray machine. Please note the out of hours service we provide is available to registered clients only. Our team of professionals are able to offer your pet a range of comprehensive expert veterinary services, providing vital, rapid results when possible.
In practice hospitalisation
When we consider a patient/all patients is/are stable we do late evening and early morning checks, we do not routinely “stay over” in the practice.
With a more critical patient (subject to our vets clinical judgement) a vet and/or a nurse stay over e.g an unstable diabetic, an unstable animal post RTA etc.
Obviously cost for this level of care is considerably greater (several hundred pounds per night, case dependent).

[H2] What happens when you call the practice out of hours?
Your call will be answered by our emergency providers who have over twenty years of experience dealing purely with veterinary out-of-hours calls. They will ask you for all your contact details and the nature of the emergency. This information is immediately passed onto the duty veterinary team who will call you back as soon as possible to discuss the emergency. If necessary, we can also arrange a time to see your pet at the surgery.

Alternatively you can also email the Pet Bereavement Support Service on pbssmail@bluecross.org.uk.Further support is available on the Blue Cross PBSS site.Cats Protection’s Paws to listen grief support serviceIf you’re experiencing pet-related grief you can call their free and confidential phone line to talk to one of our volunteer listeners. The team of trained volunteers offer emotional and practical support to owners experiencing the loss of a cat. While they are unable to offer counselling, the team provides a supportive ear to callers struggling to cope with pet-related grief as well as providing information about topics such as euthanasia, burial and cremation.The line is open between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, on Freephone 0800 024 94 94.Further information about Cats Protection’s grief and loss support work can be found on the national website: www.cats.org.uk/griefThe Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement, based in the US, along with The Ralph Site which is based in the UK, both run Pet Loss Forums where you can connect with other pet owners who are experiencing similar emotions to you. There are many special Pet Loss trained counsellors. You can find some of these on the Ralph site and also within the Counselling Directory. Note that we haven’t ‘vetted’ any of these, and we are not directly endorsing their services. It’s best to carry out further research and if possible speak to them and ask for references before you enter into any counselling agreement. If you feel that you are not coping with your day-to-day life and feel that you need additional help then we urge you to seek help from your doctor or from the Samaritans who are available around the clock, 365 days a year.
