Since developing a color science department for its True Match® tubes in the 1980’s, Kino Flo has been at the forefront of LED design and manufacturing, creating a color-correct, color stable line of tungsten and daylight LED emitters.  The company has maintained color quality for more than three decades across all product models.  From film to digital cinema cameras, to other color critical industries such as smart phone calibration and art restoration studios, Kino Flo is recognized for unrivaled color management.

MIMIK 120 incorporates Kino Flo’s innovative and patented MatchmakkerTM technology that addresses the inherent challenges associated with lighting in LED volumes, translating an incoming RGB video signal into five individual emitters (warm white, cool white, red, green and blue) to generate synchronized, full spectrum foreground lighting for the utmost realism on set.

[H3] FUTURE-PROOF PERFORMANCE

Brightness that speaks volumes. Successfully lighting foregrounds relative to backgrounds in a volume requires the level of illumination that MIMIK has been engineered to deliver. LED screens traditionally output between 800 – 1,200 NITS. By comparison, MIMIK outputs 10,000 NITS.MIMIK’s capabilities go beyond lighting the foreground by direct video feed while filling out the spectrum, with the ability to shoot as high as 900 frames per second and offer as many as 30 Alpha channels at 30 frames per second.MIMIK incorporates advancements that are ahead of their time, innovations that the industry will be growing into in the years ahead.

Driven by the Megapixel VR HELIOS LED processor, MIMIK 120 is a lighting fixture that delivers unprecedented on-set flexibility for control through either the Helios processor or by assigning certain functionality to the lighting desk. This resolves jurisdictional issues in the filmmaking community between VFX and on set lighting teams.Embodied in a lightweight carbon fiber frame, MIMIK adapts to on-set configurations with easy mobility and expands real-time and post-production options with technology that enables latency-free synchronization to an LED volume while affording lighting departments control over parameters such as dimming and positioning and color control.
