I have been an independent professional photographer since 2009, after finding myself redundant I decided to bite the bullet and do the thing that I had always secretly wanted to do. After training alongside other photographers, alot of trial and error and watching Youtube tutorials I became my own boss and although the road has been at times rocky and hard to navigate I have never looked back.
Taking pictures of children of all ages and abilities, my style is simply to take photographs of natural candid moments between children and their families so in years to come your family have beautiful pictures to look back on. [H1] Make your memories last with a family portrait

My family photography is about showing the innocence of children and capturing the love and emotion of families being together. My photography style is natural photo's of children laughing and having fun showing the interaction between the child and the parent’s or carers showing the bond between them.
All children of all abilities are welcome at my studio, if your child has a disability please call me to discuss how I can make the shoot as comfortable as possible for them. I do use strobe flash lights in my studio which needs to be considered if anyone in the family has epilepsy or is light sensitive.

[H2] What happens next?
Once you have chosen which family photoshoot package you would like, I contact you via email to ask for a deposit
Your deposit payment is deducted from the price of your shoot so if your shoot price is £225 and you pay £100 deposit then you will only need to pay £125 on the day of your shoot.
Consultation regarding the details of your shoot can take place over the phone, email or text whichever suits you best.
I confirm the date and time of your shoot once the deposit is paid, please note your shoot is not confirmed (and therefore can be booked by another client) until the deposit payment has been paid.
Please arrive on time as each shoot is carefully planned so as not to run in to each other.

After the shoot I will send you over a link to your email to an online gallery where you can view the images taken during the session.
I will edit some of the images so you can see what they look like once they are finished, I will also make some images black & white.

If you would like your digital images on a USB stick (8GB)please add £25 if not they will be sent to you via a link for you to download to your own PC.

[H2] Studio photography
At my family portrait studio I offer a relaxed and fun shoot which generally lasts approx 1hr, we go at the pace of the children so we can stop and start depending on their needs. During the shoot I will take a range of pictures of your children on their own, with parents, with grandma or with the family dog.

Maternity photos are a way for you to celebrate the baby you are about to meet, to document a special and exciting time in your life. I took my own maternity photographs many moons ago (my daughter is now a grown woman!) and I am so glad I did they are some of the most precious and treasured photographs I have.
Newborn baby photography is for you and your family to have a wonderful photographic record to look back on and see how tiny your baby was when they first arrived in the world. [H2] Newborn photography at home or at the studio?
[H3] Photography at home
I will come to you and take pictures of you and your baby doing your own thing. Natural photography of your baby relaxing on your lap, on your bed, on your shoulder, having a cuddle. Your babies photo shoot will stop and start around their needs, so if your little one is hungry or you want to give them a squish we will stop and take a breather. A photo shoot in your home is ideal if you are feeling tired and would prefer to stay in the comfort of your own home. It also works well if you want to include siblings, the dog or have some pictures taken in your garden.

[H3] Photography at the studio
These are slightly more posed images, I tend not to pose the baby too much on their own to do individual shots (although I do take some) in the studio but like to get the interaction between the parents and babies in different positions standing and cuddling your new baby, each of you holding your newborn. I like to include close ups of your newborns face, feet and hands and shots taken of you cuddling in close as a family. Siblings are welcome too, but the shoot will revolve mainly around the new baby with some shots with their brother & sisters.
My style of photography reflects who I am as a person, I like to capture natural poses, close ups showing the little details and relaxed pictures of your baby sleeping or awake. I enjoy using natural light if possible but if not I can bring lights with me. I want everyone to feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible, so you can all enjoy the experience together.

[H1] Bespoke unique and beautiful fine art photography
This is the ultimate photo shoot, my fine art photography is about creative expression. The style is classic and romantic in colours and concept. Packages include digital enhancement and editing, archival quality paper prints or high resolution digital downloads.
My fine art portraits are about conveying an idea and emotion. I love those old master piece pre-raphaelite paintings with rich dark colours and textures. Inspired by John Waterhouse paintings when I was younger I have always loved the picture of The Lady of Shalott. I remember seeing the painting up close for the first time and being mesmerised by the colours and the delicate bone china skin tones it seemed magical and other worldly. [H2] Do I need a special outfit for a fine art photo shoot?
The short answer is no, we plan the shoot ahead and discuss ideas via email or on the phone or you are welcome to visit the studio to discuss the details. I use pieces of cloth, blankets, fur, wraps and things taken from nature to use as props. I like to create an image which is a one off. It helps to have the colours and textures compliment the sitters skin tones and hair colour. Hair/ make-up styling can be booked before the shoot (Mac trained MUA artist) who is used to stying fantastic up do's and hair styles which make a statement. The results are stunning fine art portraits which are perfect to have as prints or canvas art for your wall.

I want you and your pet to feel as comfortable as possible, there is always a bowl of water to hand and we start and stop to go with the pace of your dog. Choose a formal portrait style photograph taken at the studio or have a more relaxed family photo shoot outside on a favourite dog walk at the beach or local woods as a family. Some of the local places I visit for dog photo shoots are Mersea Island, Friday Woods, University Woods and Highwoods in Colchester.

[H2] Why professional pet photography is important
Life is finite, we all wish our pets would last for ever but sadly our time with them is limited. Before you know it your small puppy is a grown dog and the only pictures you have are taken on your phone or hidden away stored on some computer. We are less likely these days to get our photographs printed and framed. An image taken by a professional photographer can become a piece of art which you can get framed or made in to a hand made canvas for your home. A professional pet photographer has the equipment, the experience and the software to create a stunning portrait, taking in to account the lighting the composition and editing the details so the overall portrait is a stunning picture of your dog captured and printed on archival quality paper which will last.

[H2] How it all works
My aim is to offer a friendly professional fun photo shoot for you and your dog to capture their personality to take beautiful pictures as you see them.

Contact me via the contact us page, email or call me to book your shoot.
Once we have agreed a date and time I send you over an invoice to pay £50 deposit.
Before your shoot we will talk via phone, text or email to discuss your dogs shoot.
Please arrive no earlier than 5-10 minutes before your shoot, as I may be busy taking pictures of another client.
If it’s a studio shoot you have booked I make sure the temperature is cool and there is always a bowl of water ready in case your dog gets thirsty.
I do have a supply of treats and squeaky toys to get your dogs attention but if your dog is on a special diet or gets excited by a particular toy then please bring it along.
The photo shoots generally last around 30-60 minutes (depending on which package you have booked), allow a bit of time either side just in case we need it. Like children dogs seem to sense when their owners are tense and in turn makes them a little on edge, the shoot is all about everyone being relaxed and getting the best pictures.
Any travel for photo shoots outside of Colchester is charged at 45p p/mile.
After the shoot I will send you a link to your own gallery via email of all the pictures taken throughout the session. The gallery pictures will be ‘proof images’(unedited) low resolution digital files with a watermark, they are purely for sharing with others and viewing purposes. Simply look through the gallery and choose which image you would like edited and printed as your 10×8” fine art print and email me with your choice.
If you wish to buy any extra prints, digital files, canvas or wooden images from the shoot I will send you over a price list via email.
