We are pleased to announce that Eclipse Temurin now provides container images for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS across all supported architectures. Important: With this release, the default Ubuntu base image for Eclipse Temurin containers has been updated from Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) to Ubuntu 26.04 (Resolute). This means that untagged or version-only tags (e.g., eclipse-temurin:26-jdk) now point to Ubuntu 26.04-based images. If you need to continue using Ubuntu 24.04-based images, please use the explicit noble tag (e.g., eclipse-temurin:26-jdk-noble). Container support has been added for Ubuntu 26.04 across the following architectures: aarch64 (ARM 64-bit) arm (ARM 32-bit) ppc64le (PowerPC 64-bit Little Endian) s390x (IBM Z) x64 (x86-64) Note for riscv64 users: Due to upstream official images limitations, we are currently unable to build riscv64 images for Ubuntu 26.04. If you require riscv64 support, please continue using the -noble tag (Ubuntu 24.04) for now. Docker images are available for all supported JDK versions (8, 11, 17, 21, 25, 26) in both JDK and JRE variants. For the full list of available tags and their respective Dockerfiles, please refer to the official Eclipse Temurin Docker documentation. Light [H1] Exploring Packaging Changes to Temurin JDK on AIX, Linux ppc64le and Linux s390x We are proposing changes to how Eclipse Temurin runtimes are packaged on selected platforms and are seeking community feedback. [IMG: Adoptium PMC] Adoptium PMC·May 05, 2026·3 min readThe Adoptium community is committed to delivering high-quality Eclipse Temurin builds for the most widely used and actively maintained platforms. As part of this, we regularly review how our binaries are packaged and distributed to ensure they align with modern usage. We are opening a discussion on a proposal to evolve runtime packaging for a small number of platforms where usage patterns are heavily backend-focused. [H2] Platforms in Scope This proposal specifically targets: AIX ppc64 Linux ppc64le Linux s390x These platforms are predominantly used for server-side and enterprise workloads, where GUI support is rarely required. [H2] Proposal Overview We are exploring a shift toward more streamlined runtime distributions on these platforms, with a focus on: Prioritising headless or minimal runtime configurations Reducing overlap between existing runtime variants Aligning delivered artifacts with typical production usage This would affect how runtimes are packaged and distributed, not the underlying OpenJDK functionality. [H2] Rationale Across the Java ecosystem, usage has shifted toward: Cloud and container-based deployments Backend services with no GUI requirements Increased emphasis on smaller, more efficient runtime images Maintaining multiple overlapping runtime variants introduces additional build, test, and maintenance overhead. As seen in previous platform decisions, focusing effort where it delivers the most value helps improve overall quality and sustainability. As this proposal involves removing the GUI related components, such as libawt_xawt.so on the Linux platforms, it would align these builds more closely with the existing Alpine Linux distributions, which already exclude this library. In practice, this means the resulting runtimes would be comparable in functionality to Alpine-based Temurin builds. For typical backend workloads, including those using ImageIO, no impact is expected. However, this will be validated through targeted testing to ensure compatibility and avoid regressions. [H2] What This Means No decisions have been made at this stage. This is an early proposal intended to gather feedback. If adopted, the changes would aim to: Simplify the set of runtime packages on these platforms Improve maintainability of build and test pipelines Full-featured runtimes would continue to be considered where there is a clear need. [H2] Feedback Requested We are particularly interested in feedback on: Current usage of GUI features on these platforms Requirements for full vs headless runtimes Potential impact to existing deployments and automation If your organisation depends on these platforms, please share your use cases and requirements in the discussion. [H2] Join the Discussion We encourage all users and contributors to participate: See: https://github.com/adoptium/adoptium/issues/273 [H2] Summary This proposal reflects an ongoing effort to align Eclipse Temurin distributions with modern deployment patterns, while ensuring that project resources are focused where they provide the greatest benefit. By starting with AIX ppc64, Linux ppc64le, and Linux s390x, we aim to evaluate this approach on platforms where it is most applicable. We welcome your feedback. [H2] Fixes and Updates This release contains the following fixes and updates: Temurin 26 release notes [H2] New and Noteworthy [H3] Headless JRE RPM Packages Available For JDK26 For server environments where no graphical components are required, a new headless JRE package is also available. This excludes GUI-related libraries such as AWT and reduces the overall installation footprint. sudo dnf install temurin-26-jre-headless [H3] Coexistenance of JDK & JRE (via RPM installation) Is Now Prevented Following the discussion in this Temurin issue, https://github.com/adoptium/installer/issues/1360 from JDK26 onwards, the installation of both the JDK & JRE RPM packages is no longer allowed. This is because the temurin-26-jre package takes the jdk-26-jre.tar.gz and installs it. The tar ball is the result of the legacy-jre-image target, which is a different jlink invocation than the full JDK. For the JDK it includes all modules for legacy-jre-image it includes an (arbitrary) subset. With JDK 9+ there is no JRE that is a proper subset of the JDK. The lib/modules file differs depending on which modules got linked in. Therefore, there is no way one package can own that file and be a true subset (in terms of RPM packaging). It makes little sense to have two "runtimes" installed at the same time for any major version. One, call it R, including module set A Another, call it R', including module set B Where: A ⊂ B files(R) ∩ files(R') ≠ ∅ [H3] Contributing To Eclipse Temurin Looking to make an impact? Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 1131 businesses audited.
Eclipse Adoptium has 4.2 points less BS than the average for Software, SaaS & Tech Products.
Software, SaaS & Tech Products BS: Eclipse Adoptium (adoptium.net)
Eclipse Adoptium is a high-integrity technical resource currently suffering from ‘Enterprise Marketing Syndrome.’ The underlying product and documentation are of the highest substance, but the homepage implementation—broken counters, multiple H1s, and unverifiable review counts—creates a layer of unnecessary bullshit that masks its true authority.
First, fix the JavaScript error causing the download counter to display ‘0’ to substantiate the ‘millions’ claim. Second, consolidate the heading hierarchy so only one H1 exists per page to demonstrate technical best practices. Third, provide direct outbound links to TCK certification logs for each major version to replace ‘trust theatre’ with ‘proof paths.’ Fourth, link the Organization schema to the official Eclipse Foundation ‘sameAs’ social profiles and security disclosure pages.
The website perfectly aligns with the Software & Tech category, specifically functioning as a repository and distribution hub for OpenJDK runtimes. The content is deeply technical, focusing on JVM architectures, patch versions, and enterprise certifications.
“The score of 29 is primarily driven by Trust Theatre flags (8 points) and technical hierarchy issues (Step 5). The Information Density score (11) was penalized for excessive repetition of value props, even though the body text is substantive. If the '0' download counter and broken review links were fixed, this score would likely drop into the low teens.”
This training module utilizes a snapshot of public data from Eclipse Adoptium, captured on May 26, 2026, to demonstrate how machine logic evaluates different types of business narratives.
Purpose: This data is presented under “Fair Use” / “Educational Exception” for the purpose of forensic semantic analysis, allowing users to compare human intuition against machine-generated evaluations.
Notice to Eclipse Adoptium: This analysis is part of a non-adversarial audit conducted by 1 Euro SEO. The results provided by 1EuroSEO are intended as professional feedback to help improve any website’s machine-readability and authority signals. The 1EuroSEO BS Detection Tool is a free tool, and anyone can test any company to see how their content is interpreted by AI models.
Any company can use the insights for free and improve its voice by comparing it to industry clichés or competitors. When a company has updated its content, it can always submit a new audit request, which will be reflected in a new current score.
