How does the platform work?

The Scroll Documentation platform is a collection of native Confluence apps that let you effortlessly manage and publish your team’s content and documentation. All the apps are available to try free for 30 days on the Atlassian Marketplace.

Not sure where to start? Let us recommend the right apps for your team

Do I need coding skills to publish my content?

Not at all. Our themes and templates are customizable without code. For more advanced customizations on your site, take control with design tokens, custom CSS, or JS to fine-tune every detail.

Which formats can I publish to?

PDF, Word, HTML files, or a fully responsive static website like a help center or knowledge base. You can also publish your content directly in your product with our in-app help feature.

Can I control who sees or edits certain documentation?

Yes. By default, any site you publish is public, but you can restrict access using authentication options like access tokens or Single Sign-On (SSO). This lets you share content with only the people who need it. And don’t worry – we respect Confluence’s native permissions. If a page is restricted in Confluence, it won’t appear in your site.

Can I track usage or see what users are searching for?

Yes. You can connect your knowledge base to tools like Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Search Console, or Cloudflare Web Analytics to track traffic, behavior, and search trends.While AI searches aren’t tracked by default, you can integrate with your preferred analytics tool to monitor what users search for, how they interact with results, and where content can be improved.

Does Backbone need to be installed on each Jira instance to be synchronized?

Yes, Backbone would need to be installed on each instance where you need to sync Jira work items and other data. You will also need a valid Backbone license for each instance you're integrating with.If for any reason, you can’t install Backbone on one of the instances, you might want to check out our “Remote Licensing” option. Remote licensing lets you install Backbone on one Jira only and synchronize with other Jira instances that don’t have Backbone installed.

Can I synchronize Jira work items between data center and cloud?

Yes, you can sync work items between any combination of Jira cloud, server, and data center. You can also sync Jira items between any type of spaces and any combination of Jira Service Management, Jira Software, or Jira Work Management instances. That’s what makes Backbone one of the most flexible tools around!

Is Backbone robust enough to scale and support enterprise-level synchronization?

Since 2012, Backbone has been helping enterprise-level clients collaborate better across Jira instances. Performance tests are continually implemented to ensure there are no abnormalities or load on both the app and the Jira instances. For example, we have customers use Backbone with more than 50k work items per space without any problems!A dedicated team of developers is always at work, making sure that the app’s performance is optimal. Backbone also has the “Cloud Fortified” tag from Atlassian, meaning we are acknowledged for our constant reliability checks that include Assessment for Scale, Incident Management Tracking, and SLIs monitoring.

Does Backbone have an information security policy?

We take the security and privacy of your data very seriously! Backbone will synchronize data based on your synchronization configuration. It will export data from the source Jira space and import it into the target space. Between the export and import, Backbone is responsible for the data. After the synchronization is complete, the responsibility is within the target space.
