Training Example: Supernotes – Review the Data, Give Your Score & Compare to the Real AI Evaluation

Industry Context — Common BS Fingerprints in Software, SaaS & Tech Products
Generic Claims: the all-in-one platform, trusted by thousands of companies, increase productivity by X percent, save hours every week…
Red Flags: AI claims without explaining what the AI does, customer logos without case study or testimonial evidence, no live product access or demo, SOC 2 claims without audit period or report availability…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims AI-powered but product is rules-based, claims enterprise-grade but pricing page shows startup tiers only, homepage shows Fortune 500 logos but case studies are small businesses, claims all-in-one but integration page shows critical missing pieces…
Proof Expectations: live product demo or free trial access, specific feature documentation with screenshots, verified customer logos with published case studies, third-party review scores on G2, Capterra, or TrustRadius…

[H1] Features
[H3] Supernotes is filled with features, perks and goodies to help you be more productive. These are our community favourites.
NotecardsLong-form documents are impractical for storing knowledge. Niklas Luhmann discovered this and that's why he came up with the Zettelkasten system for storing knowledge. He based it on notecards! We've taken it a step further making our notecards collaborative, linkable, nestable and so much more. Wave goodbye to those esoteric folder–file structures we have relied on for 100s of years which just aren't suited to how we think.
Map Layout newWhenever you write a note, Supernotes will automatically track your location and assign it to the note. You can then view all the notes you've written in a particular location on the map.

Seamless OfflineTravelling on a plane? No problem. Supernotes works offline, so you can keep taking notes without any interruptions. Once you're back online, your notes will automatically merge changes and sync across all your devices.
Heatmap CalendarThe calendar is at the core of the Supernotes experience. Quickly view which days you've been taking the most notes with heatmap calendar. You can also use the calendar to quickly navigate to a certain day, or drag and drop a notecard onto a day to set it's targeted date.

TagsEvery notecard on Supernotes can be tagged. This is great for quickly categorising your knowledge. Once you added a tag to a card, you can click on it to filter the cards in your current view by that tag. Super useful for when you takes notes about the same topic at during different days - such as a series of events or lectures.
Flashcard Layout newQuickly enter Flashcard Layout to grasp new concepts or existing ones. Using Spaced Repetition with Cram, Standard and Relaxed paces to help you learn your cards at a rate that suits you.

Universal SearchCan't remember which folder you put that recipe from a year ago? That's a thing of the past. Use the Universal Search, to look through all your notecards and find what you are looking for in seconds. You can also use the Universal Search for common commands such as switching between different views, toggle night mode and more!
Private & SecureNotes are personal and we take privacy very seriously. On Supernotes your data is always encrypted in transit (forced SSL) and encrypted at rest (AES-256). Our team will never read or access your note content, unless we have received your express permission during a customer support interaction. Read our full security policy here.
Always with YouWe don't believe in locking you in, 99% of the features are available for free on Supernotes. You can export all your notes as Markdown at any time. And if you upgrade for more cards, you get to keep those for forever* even if you downgrade back to the free plan.*as long as you don't delete them ;)“Much easier than say Roam, Craft, and other apps”ManojSign up now for free >→Fast SupportTo help you get started with Supernotes, we have put together a comprehensive help section, including a cheatsheet, in depth documentation and YouTube tutorials. And if you would like some 1:1 help, you can chat to us directly using the in-app messenger. We will get back to you as soon as we can, even on evenings and weekends.
Table Layout newJump into Table Layout to organise your notes in a table. You can also use it to create new notes, or to edit existing ones. Use multi-select to quickly edit multiple notes at once. Tables automatically adjust to your screen size, so you can use them on any device.
AI Superpowers newWe've carefully woven AI into Supernotes to enhance your writing and thinking experience. An opt-in feature, our AI takes care of tedious tasks, recommends relevant tags, and points out grammatical errors and areas for improvement in your notes – guiding you towards crafting better notes with each use.

Research BackedWe have spent countless hours researching the best techniques to boost knowledge retention. That's why we introduced things like our 1200 character soft limit – this helps you break down your knowledge into more manageable, singular ideas, rather than being stuck in an endless document. We also write helpful producitivity articles on our blog so definitely check them out.
ImportWant to move from your existing system? You can import all your notes from Obsidian, Roam Research, Google Keep, Notion or plain Markdown files. We make sure we preserve all your formatting including bi-directional links between notes!
On All Your DevicesDon't let your knowledge get tied down to a single place, whether it's on your laptop or in paper folders. We have dedicated mobile, desktop and web apps for iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux and the Web, meaning you can access it from pretty much any internet-enabled device, small or big, from a friend's iPhone or iPad to your grandad's PC.

Share with AnyoneIn a few seconds you can create a secure link to one of your notecards. You can then share this link with someone who doesn't have Supernotes – great for sharing recipes, book reviews or ideas with friend. You can edit the permissions of the link to make it read-only or allow your friend to join so you can collaborate together.
Simple & IntuitiveToo many apps try to solve everything. We try and do one thing as well as we can – that's making your knowledge as useful to you as possible. Our user interface is clean, simple and easy to use so you can focus without any distractions.
Extremely ReliableIf you're fed up with buggy, unreliable note-taking apps, then Supernotes is for you. We are extremely reliable, and had over 99.999% API Uptime in 2022. That means we had less than 5.26 minutes of downtime in a year – less than a coffee break. In the unlikely event that something does come up, you can always chat with us immediately.
Daily ViewsWe have a dedicated view for all of the notecards you interact with throughout each day. This is super handy for when you want to jot your thoughts down in the morning, keeping track of events during the day or feel like having a quick review of the all the day's notes in the evening.
Thoughts CollectionWhen you are in a rush you might write down some ideas / reminders in your notes app. Previously you might have found those ideas get lost in an abundance of other notes. So we created the Thoughts collection to solve this. In the Thoughts collection you can find those lonely notes without a title, content or links to the rest of of your knowledge base.
Custom CollectionsWe have a range of collections to help you organise your notes, such as the Tasks and Thoughts collections. But we know that everyone works differently, so we've also added the ability to create your own custom collections. You can add any notecard to a collection, and then quickly navigate to that collection from the sidebar.

Based on MarkdownMarkdown helps you style text quickly, so you can think about what you are writing rather than how to format it. **Bold** – that's markdown. But we've extended it to include checklists, images and maths equations! We've even designed our own typeface, SN Pro, specifically with Markdown in mind.
Bi-directional linksSupernotes is based around our unique notecard format which is easy to learn and powerful once your master it. Just like legos you can piece them together to build your own interlinked knowledge database.
“The first note-taking environment I saw myself using happily”CagataySign up now for free >→Multi-parent NestingFolders are outdated. A file can only belong in one folder. This isn't how our brain works. Sometimes one thought, log or note belongs in multiple places. There are no files and folders on Supernotes. Instead notecards themeselves are nestable i.e. they can belong inside multiple other notecards.
PinningWhen working on a few things concurrently, you can pin up those noteards to the side of your screen, so you never lose track for idea or a thought. Great for when you have a task list you are working through, or keeping together a collection of ideas that you are actively thinking about.
FriendsMake Supernotes more personal and invite your friends. Once you've added a few, instantly send a card to them privately by dragging and dropping it onto their names. Your friends will receive the cards into their Notifications. Filter cards written by friends to quickly see all the knowledge they have shared with you.
Keyboard ControlsThere's no finicky button to create a new note. If you have a new thought, just start typing on your keyboard and a new card will magically appear. We have a large range of keyboard controls, so you navigate, edit and use Supernotes solely on your keyboard.
Night ModeLike to stay up late? We've hand crafted two gorgeous dark themes, which are perfect for those late night study sessions, for when you have to get things done. Supernotes is your knowledge companion 24/7.
Print & ExportInstantly export your notecards as single PDF, JSON or Markdown file(s). Or if you want even greater flexibility use our API to export your notes to any format / service you like!
API & IntegrationsIntegrate Supernotes with your favourite apps, with Raycast, Zapier and IFTTT support in the works. You can also create some webhooks with Supernotes as well to ping your favourite apps like Slack and Discord.
Active CommunityWe're not just building software, we're also building an incredible Community of note-takers from all aroud the world. Everyone uses Supernotes from VPs of Engineering to rock climbers.
Instant CollaborationShare notes with your friends, family and colleagues and give them the right amount of access with four permissions to choose from – moderator, editor, collaborator or reader. Once shared, you can edit the notecard together or publish to it the web via a secret link.

NotificationsWhen friends send you a card they appear in your notifications. Then you can review whether you'd like to add a card to your library or not. It's pretty magical waking up in the morning, checking your Supernotes and reading some knowledge your friends have shared with you. You instantly feel more productive!
Always Up to DateWe are constantly improving Supernotes for you. We love getting our community involved. Everything new we build is based on the great feedback from our Community Forum. We know that new features don't always create a better experience, so we take care to make sure every update makes Supernotes simpler, faster and more powerful.
User FocusedMany collaborative note-taking tools are built for teams and universites, making the experience less than ideal for individual users. They may offer a free plan for individuals, but their roadmap is dedicated to their paying customers which are large teams. We built and designed Supernotes specifially for you, the individual, giving your greater power and control over your own knowledge.
ColorsBrighten up your notes with 7 different colors to choose from. Colors are not just for aesthetics – you can filter your notecards by color. Use traffic-light colors to determine how well you know a notecard, or for categorising different types of card! When used in combination with tagging, the opportunities are endless.
Beautiful DesignThat was a quote from one of our users. We liked it so much that we used it as a title. But it's true, we have some award winning design here. We take care of the design for you, so you can focus more time on building your knowledge rather than procrastinating on whether you should use Arial or Times New Roman.
Tasks CollectionWe have a simple but powerful workflow for Tasks. Every notecard that has an open tasks will automatically appear in the Tasks Collection for you to review. It's simple and a crowd favourite for getting things done.
Targeted DatesSometimes you want a note to appear on a certain day, whether it's a meeting or a trip or a past event. Quickly move a card by dragging and dropping it onto the calendar in the sidebar or editing the Targeted date with the more options.
Columns Layout updatedLike working on a big screen? Make full use of all your screen real estate with our Broadsheet View. You can use the Broadsheet View to quickly scan through your notes, with up to five columns.
Works out of the BoxGet started immediately, everything just works as you expect. We've carefully selected all the most important features so you can focus on writing and thinking. There's no heavy customisation or setup required, just start typing and you're good to go.
AchievementsSupernotes encourages you to build a habit of taking notes. We have a range of challenges to help you get started and keep you motivated – such as tagging 20 cards, or sharing 5 of your favourite cards. Every time you complete an achievement, earn more cards on the free Starter plan!

I have a personal, family and work space. I love the card concept and note boards concept for structure.”Jamie switched from Craft“The thing that won me over is the Zettelkasten card system philosophy. I love how the cards are linked as child cards, direct links, or tags. It's easy to link up ideas in a way that makes sense.”Maurice switched from Pen and Paper“Supernotes main two benefits over Obsidian are that it reduces a ton of friction, and includes the ability to collaborate with others. While I love the idea of having a daily note it often ends up being tricky to know what information should go in your daily not and which information should be filed away in a folder. Supernotes' Daily collection means you don't have to make this choice, because any information you capture regardless gets logged to the day it was captured.”Read why Seth switched from Obsidian“I am a PhD researcher. Personally, I am currently using supernotes as a dump for little snippets of information that I pick up from texts, academic articles, that I derive myself. These includes facts, questions, equations, methods etc. I then can search through them and I write more long-form fleshed out thoughts in Obsidian. I like how Supernotes forces you into a mindset of small notes that can be easily searched and synthesized into larger notes.”Rolfe switched from Pen and Paper“① The notecard: it keeps me from being too prolix – and preserves maneuverability (plus it's familiar).② The mix of vertical hierarchy (parent cards, the tree) with non-hierarchical linking (via bi-directional links + tags) – it makes me a bit panicky if I can't switch between them (i.e, outlines are useful, but only just).③ Privacy! You're not mining and monetizing my data.④ I can PDF out of Supernotes into the physical realm when I need tangibility.”Melissa switched from Pen and Paper“To be honest, I have made an ample research to find the perfect app and I couldn’t find anything like Supernotes. If I had to pick a thing that grabbed my attention is the cards system because nearly all notetaking apps intended to build a knowledge system are focused in long form writing.I think that the UI/UX using cards instead of a single page long form text is brilliant.”Pablo switched from Bear“The card based interface is helpful for memorizing key concepts pulled from my notes and other materials, both analogue and digital. Moreover, the program is well designed. I’m in the architecture profession, so I appreciate well-designed apps. I think it’s the most beautiful note taking app out there.”John switched from OmniOutlinerWhat apps have you replaced with Supernotes? “Mainly Notion. I feel that Supernotes is better to use for my notes. Especially for quick notes and thoughts. I love that you can customize the menu on the side with only the notes that are relevant to you.”Tina switched from Notion“Fluid, simple and easy to learn UI. I have been looking for a long time for a decent note taking app with back linking that doesn't feel like I am working with code (Roam Research, Obsidian). I also found the UI on other more popular note taking apps such as Evernote and Notion to be quite overwhelming and takes a significant amount of time to learn.”"Jemuel switched from Typora“SN reminded me there is value in a good interface. Seeing parents and tags in context, having the ability to quickly filter by them by clicking on them, the simplicity of excluding vs including vs not considering a filter in the search is excellent.”Jacob switched from Athens Research“Honestly it’s UI and ease of use. I wanted to try Obsidian, but it’s so overwhelming I never added any notes. Supernotes is beautiful and has all the tools I’ll need for a zettelkasten, but not so complicated that I can’t tell up from down or where to put things.”Rebecca switched from Notion“I have checklists of what needs to be revised, and then notecards for every subsection of topics, my degree is in health and literally everything is connected so it serves almost as a mind map for me. I used to use just regular apple notes and I cant imagine still doing this. The design is BEAUTIFUL okay. Feels like an actual home for my notes.”Teak switched from Microsoft OneNote“I'm starting to move all my bookmarks and random notes on my phone (relating to personal interests, work interests, and.. other) to Supernotes so that all my 'info' is in one place. Love it.”Matt switched from TextEdit“OneNote turned into a messy dumping ground of unfinished notes/screenshots etc. Pages of unnecessary notes that I didn't need to keep, and it was really hard to find anything. I see Supernotes as more of a long term record of notes I actually want to keep and will refer back to - the beautiful layout prompts me to keep my notes clean and tidy too!”Joanna switched from Microsoft OneNote“Coming from Bear, the amount of code highlighting straight out of the box was a big draw. As well as being cross-platform/available on the web. I also love the Daily collection.”Matt switched from Bear“Many things:① Hierarchical aspect.② Nice UX.③ Completeness of features: pictures, markdown syntax editing, search.④ Fast.”Samy switched from Google Keep“I'm an executive director for a youth nonprofit. Use notecards for each phone call I make, for ideas, for reference info relating to my job, for quotes I like, for managing relationships with community leaders and donors (people as parent cards and children for each notecard with information related to them), for distilling concepts (i.e. Stoicism), want to start Journaling with it, saving travel ideas, and lots more. It's awesome!”Kevin switched from Obsidian“I’m an AI researcher and so far I’ve been using Supernotes to keep track of concepts (ideas) from multiple sources. I was initially using Notion, Craft, and some text editors like Bear. But there was something missing. I needed a way to express ideas that could come in handy in the future without it necessarily being just “notes” and the intuition behind Supernotes felt like it. I’m able to morph ideas into perspectives (of said ideas), as having some relation with other ideas, etc... allowing me to create structures.”Leonard switched from Bear“Mobile and desktop sync. I work between two laptops and a mobile so I love for my PKM to be available wherever I am. A strong web app and native apps where available bundled with sync is a killer feature from my view”Andrew switched from Logseq“Interface is the one. I believe I have fallen for Supernotes because of the looks and feel of the platform.”Oleksandr switched from Notion“Better note taking, organizing and store code on daily basis ... [Supernotes also has] more markdown options, fast.”Charan switched from Notion“I use it for making research. I am a PhD student and I am trying to use Supernotes for my Zettelkasten method. My PhD is in engineering. The interface… it is beautiful. Also the graph view.”Hugo switched from Obsidian“Compare to Roam, card is better than outline. Daily collection is better than daily note.”Gao switched from Roam Research“A few things: the design, graph view, and the character limit per note. I think Supernotes is the simplest approach I've found to implement a Zettelkasten-esque system and ultimately that's why I subscribed.”Amal switched from Evernote“I love having cards instead of the outliner view. They're helping me to distill my thoughts in small snippets, and they allow me to have a bird's eye view of what I'm working on, especially with the Broadsheet view enabled.”Giada switched from Logseq“Visually I love the layout; it has helped me spacially connect strings of ideas. I am a big fan of the 'parent' and 'child' structures.”Matt switched from Milanote“I love how much lesser of an overhead it is to create notes and connect them compared to Notion. It feels more intuitive, simple, clean and powerful. It encourages to be concise and break things down which I love.”Dharshatharan switched from Notion“Gorgeous design. I’m tired of all these ugly apps where people can customize it with css. They always end up looking like sh***y versions of MySpace pages from 2005. A good looking app is super important to me and Supernotes is beautiful.”Joseph switched from Craft“Prior to [Supernotes] I have been a heavy OneNote, Evernote, Obsidian user ... [Supernotes] is very fast, its also simple”Austin switched from Microsoft OneNote“Supernotes was the first note-taking environment I saw myself using happily, and at the same time, being able to share with my family. It strikes a balance between expressive power and simplicity that is rare to find.”Cagatay switched from Ulysses“The simplicity. It took me 30 mins to get the hang of adding and organizing cards and I built my personal progress tracking system in an hour. I have autism and ADHD so keeping the barrier to entry low and not too much on the screen is important to me.”Breeana switched from Notion“Supernotes stays true to the original Zettelkasten method, and I think this is the most frictionless tool existing for those wanting to try and start collecting information. The user experience is superb, everything seems to have been thought about.”James switched from Logseq“The UI was a big one, but I also loved the ease of adding new notes and adding cards to multiple parents. One thing that really wowed me was the "Tasks" collection – I love that I can add a task to any card and it will be there until it's checked off.”Aric switched from Obsidian“100% the "Targeted dates" feature. This is something I've been looking for from other apps and has been the deal-breaker every single time. I thought it didn't exist, and I'm willing to forgive basically anything else about Supernotes because it has this, and does it well.”Lauren switched from Obsidian“I use Supernotes for personal note-taking, jotting down ideas, recording daily events, and keeping track of people in my life. I enjoy the Graph View and organizing my notes as cards.”Jiratip switched from Evernote“I feel I can control my ideas better in Supernotes. After using many note-taking apps, the speed is really important factor. The second thing is the minimal design.”Saad switched from Evernote“There are multiple things,① Card system, I think this is just an awesome way of writing notes that helps me focus on the essentials.② Community / Support, I really got a lot of help from the founders.③ Linking, tagging, parenting etc. I love this system in the way it connects my thinking to help me better understand the fundamentals and the relations between them.④ API since I love programming, It's a great system for me to add on to my notes and my note-taking.”Johannes switched from Standard Notes“I decided to switch to Supernotes because I needed a tool with a simple yet elegant design.Additionally, I valued the smooth categorization, filtering, and search system that Supernotes offers. The best feature of the app for me is the ability for a card to have multiple parents. I've dreamed of such a feature for many years and was thrilled when I saw it in Supernotes.”Andrey switched from Evernote“My favourite feature is the soft word count limit. It's a non-obvious feature, and it's genius. I found that with other note-taking apps, I would just dump other people's content into the app, and then do nothing with it.With Supernotes, I find myself only collecting the best nuggets and ideas of what I'm reading. The card-like structure and the word count limit push me to write things in my own words and do my own thinking. So I use it to take notes, record SOPs, and now to write drafts for content I want to publish.”Rob switched from Obsidian“Multi-linking is a key to my way of thinking and working; Supernotes offers a unique take on linking which gives me a good insight into my collected brain farts.”Michael switched from Agenda“I love the UI: it's so slick, simple, clean and just easy to work with. I also like the fact that it's very easy to move around and capture thoughts as they come to you via just a keyboard. Don't get me wrong, I love a good mouse, but it's nice to be able to jus

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?

💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Software, SaaS & Tech Products BS: Supernotes (supernotes.app)

https://supernotes.app 📍 Industry: Software, SaaS & Tech Products
26 BS / 100

Supernotes is a high-substance, product-led site that successfully avoids most industry bullshit by anchoring claims in specific technical constraints (like character limits) and versioned updates. Its low score is only slightly elevated by unverified testimonials and a refusal to update critical performance data like uptime beyond the 2022 calendar year.

Update the 2022 API Uptime claim to reflect the previous 12 months (2025-2026) to eliminate the stale evidence penalty. Replace self-hosted testimonial blocks with embedded, verified links to Product Hunt or G2 reviews to improve the proof_links_count. Add Person schema for the founders to bridge the identity-authority gap and prove human oversight of the AI modules.

The website perfectly aligns with the Software, SaaS & Tech Products industry, specifically focusing on Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) and collaborative note-taking. The presence of technical markers such as AES-256 encryption, Markdown support, and specific API documentation confirms this classification.

“The score of 26 is driven primarily by the Trust and Proof pillar (10 points) due to the total lack of external proof links and stale 2022 uptime data. The low Commodity Fingerprint (3 points) reflects a product with a unique structural value proposition that resists copy-paste marketing. Information Density is high, keeping that sub-score low despite a few fluffy H1/H2 headers.”
