Encryption

[H3] Encrypt communication between Zabbix components
Zabbix supports encrypting any communication stream between different Zabbix components:

All communications between various Zabbix components (such as Zabbix server, proxies, agents and command-line utilities) support TLS protocol
Support for certificate and pre-shared key encryption
Encryption is optional and configurable for individual components

All sensitive information is encrypted and can be stored in an external Vault for additional security
Select from a list of supported encryption algorithms based on your security policy

Zabbix provides a flexible user permission schema which can be efficiently used to manage user permissions within one Zabbix installation or in a distributed environment.
You can define three levels of permissions:

Read-write – a read-write access
Read-only – a read-only access

Deny – access denied

User types are used to define access to administrative functions and to specify default permissions:

Zabbix User have read-only permissions on collected data and events
Zabbix Admins can manage your monitoring configuration and read the collected data and events

Are all monitoring methods supported by Zabbix Cloud nodes?
All monitoring methods (Item types) are supported by Zabbix Cloud instances with the exception of:
External checks
ODBC monitoring (only for MySQL and PostgreSQL databases)
SNMP traps

What happens if I reach the new value per second (NVPS) limit?
Once a maximum supported number of new values per second (NVPS) for the current compute tier is reached, the values exceeding the maximum NVPS number will be discarded at random.
Can I upgrade and downgrade my Zabbix Cloud node compute tier?

Your Zabbix Cloud node compute tier can be upgraded and downgraded at any time from the Upgrade section in the Node configuration.
In addition to compute tier upgrades, the available storage size can also be increased from here.

Can I increase the allocated disk space?

The allocated disk space can be increased under the Upgrade section of the Node configuration.
The disk space increase can be performed once every 24 hours
Once you increase your disk space, you will not have the ability to decrease it

How long does a node upgrade take?
Depending on the node size and other factors, the node upgrade to a higher tier takes approximately 10 minutes.
Can I encrypt connections between Zabbix components?

Zabbix Cloud supports certificate-based encryption. Use the Encryption section of the Node configuration to upload your certificate files.

Can my Zabbix Cloud Node connect to Zabbix proxies?
Zabbix Cloud instances support connections to active and passive proxies as well as proxy groups.
What is the maximum allowed history and trend storage period on Zabbix Cloud nodes?
There is no hard-coded limitation for data history and trend storage periods. The only limitation for Zabbix Cloud instance history and trend storage periods is the available disk space.
How do I upgrade my Zabbix Cloud node to the latest version?
Once the latest Zabbix release passes the internal testing and QA for Zabbix Cloud deployment, your Zabbix Cloud instance will be upgraded to the latest version during the weekly maintenance periods chosen by you under the Node configuration section.
How soon will I get the latest Zabbix version/release?
The latest Zabbix releases are deployed on Zabbix Cloud nodes as soon as we finish the internal release testing and QA process.
Can I refuse an upgrade to the latest major version?
The upgrade to the latest Zabbix release can be postponed, but it cannot be cancelled. Eventually, your Zabbix Cloud node will be automatically upgraded to the latest major version.
Where can I configure my history/trend data retention periods?
History and trend data retention periods can be configured in the History section of the Node configuration.

[H3] Accessing the Zabbix frontend
Where can I find my Zabbix frontend password?

Your Zabbix frontend password for the Admin account will be displayed after the Node deployment process is complete.
You can copy the current Admin password to the clipboard by clicking the clipboard icon in the Overview section in the Node configuration, next to the Frontend URL field.

How can I reset my Zabbix frontend password?

You can reset the current Admin password by clicking the key icon in the Overview section in the Node configuration, next to the Frontend URL field.
If you have deleted the Admin user from your Zabbix Cloud instance, you will not be able to reset the password for the Admin account. In this case, please create a support ticket.
Password reset is also not available if the Admin account is provisioned by LDAP.

I can't access my Zabbix frontend via its DNS name
When creating a new Zabbix Cloud node, DNS propagation can be delayed by up to 30 minutes, depending on the geographical location of your Zabbix Cloud node. The propagation time is affected by the geographical spread of DNS resolvers and ISPs, as well as ISP DNS caching.

[H3] Node maintenance
What is the purpose of maintenance?
Zabbix Cloud node weekly maintenance periods can be configured in the Maintenance section under the Node configuration. A minimum 1 hour maintenance window per week is required to be configured for each node.
During maintenance, the following upgrades may be performed on your Zabbix Cloud node:
An upgrade to the latest Zabbix release
The latest security fixes applied on the nodes
The latest platform level upgrades applied on the nodes
Optimization for best possible performance

Will my Zabbix nodes be taken down during the maintenance?
Zabbix nodes may be taken offline during the maintenance period if the maintenance tasks require it.

[H3] Backup and recovery
How often are automatic Zabbix Cloud node backups performed?
Zabbix Cloud node backups are automatically performed on a weekly basis.
How can my Zabbix Cloud node be recovered from a backup?
A Zabbix Cloud node can be restored from a backup by accessing the Backups section of the Node configuration and pressing the Restore button.
Can automatic backups be scheduled?
No, automatic backups cannot be scheduled.
Can a Zabbix Cloud node be backed up manually?
Manual Zabbix Cloud node backups can be achieved by accessing the Backups section of the Node configuration and pressing the Create backup button. The cost of the manual backup will depend on your Zabbix Cloud node size.
Can my Zabbix Cloud node backup be exported from Zabbix Cloud?
Currently there is no way to export a Zabbix Cloud node backup.
Can I import an existing Zabbix instance into Zabbix Cloud?
Currently there is no way to import/migrate an existing Zabbix instance to Zabbix Cloud.
What if my backup contains an older version of Zabbix than the currently deployed version?
The backup will be restored using the latest available Zabbix release.

[H3] Billing and invoicing
Will my node be removed after the expiry of the trial period or if I cancel my subscription?
Zabbix will only retain this data as long as necessary for providing the services you have subscribed to. For content hosted on Zabbix Cloud, the following provisions apply:
(i) If the customer cancels the node’s subscription, then the node will be deleted right after the end of the paid period
(ii) If the customer does not pay for the node before the payment deadline, then the node will continue to work for 5 days until stopped, and the node will be deleted after 10 days from the payment deadline
(iii) If the customer has not added a payment method for the trial node, then the node will be stopped and deleted 5 days after the end of the trial period

What kind of support is provided to Zabbix Cloud customers?
Paid Zabbix Cloud users will receive platform level support. This includes supporting issues with deploying and accessing Zabbix Cloud nodes, issues with the Zabbix Cloud platform features, and other problems not related to directly configuring your Zabbix Cloud instance.
