Training Example: Zeplin – Review the Data, Give Your Score & Compare to the Real AI Evaluation

Industry Context — Common BS Fingerprints in Software, SaaS & Tech Products
Generic Claims: the all-in-one platform, trusted by thousands of companies, increase productivity by X percent, save hours every week…
Red Flags: AI claims without explaining what the AI does, customer logos without case study or testimonial evidence, no live product access or demo, SOC 2 claims without audit period or report availability…
Semantic Drift Patterns: homepage claims AI-powered but product is rules-based, claims enterprise-grade but pricing page shows startup tiers only, homepage shows Fortune 500 logos but case studies are small businesses, claims all-in-one but integration page shows critical missing pieces…
Proof Expectations: live product demo or free trial access, specific feature documentation with screenshots, verified customer logos with published case studies, third-party review scores on G2, Capterra, or TrustRadius…

[H2] A letter from our CEO
Here is the problem:
[H3] Design tools are made for DESIGNING.
Design tools are creative spaces — freeform, fast-moving, always evolving. That’s what makes them great. But it’s not where devs belong. They don’t want to click around a live file hoping they’re looking at the final version. They don’t want to dig through frames to figure out how the pieces connect, understand what every element is supposed to do.We’ve seen this mess play out over and over again — at startups, agencies, Fortune 500 teams. Design tools just let it happen.Devs want clarity.Devs want structure.Devs want confidence.Design tools are not built for delivery. That’s why we built Zeplin.Because design delivery is a phase of its own.And it deserves its own space — outside the canvas. Pelin Kenez CEO & Co-founder, Zeplin
[H2] Everything your team needs for design delivery
Finalize designs Track design changes Organize designs Document designs Gather feedback Manage design system Tailored design specs Finalize designs Track design changes Organize designs Document designs Gather feedback Manage design system Tailored design specs Separate ready-for-dev designs from in-progress work Track design changes deliberately Keep every project structured Communicate the complete user journey Review and approve designs with clarity Connect your design system to real product work Specs that match your development stack Separate ready-for-dev designs from in-progress work Once designs are ready for dev, select and publish frames from any design tool. Zeplin becomes your stage for presenting final designs—without the distraction of ongoing design changes. Track design changes deliberately Inspired by Git, Zeplin brings deliberate versioning to design. Each screen has its own version history, capturing changes over time so teams can review and compare when needed. Keep every project structured Standardize how designs are organized across your team. With a consistent structure, everyone can quickly find what they need and collaborate effectively. Communicate the complete user journey Map out end-to-end user flow with purpose-built journey mapping tools: connectors, labels, and shapes designed to build complex flows easily. Document requirements in context Mockups alone don’t tell the full story. Add notes and requirements directly on the designs so devs understand how things should work, not just how they look. Review and approve designs with clarity Request reviews when screens are ready, track decisions, and keep discussions organized. Build alignment without confusing comment threads. Instant feedback with AI Scan designs with AI Design Review, catching off-system colors, spacing inconsistencies, typos, and accessibility issues before sharing with devs. Connect your design system to real product work Share and maintain your design system components and token in Styleguides, linked to day-to-day projects. Devs can see exactly which components and tokens to use, promoting adoption. Specs that match your development stack Generates accurate measurements, assets, and code snippets tailored to your team’s dev stack. Connect designs to dev tools like Jira and Storybook to keep everyone in sync. Generate real, usable code from designs Turn designs into real, usable code. Zeplin MCP server looks at both your designs and documentation to generate code that match how your team actually builds.

[H1] Principles of design delivery
Great products can only emerge when there's harmony across product development lifecycles, functions, and locations.Aligning design, product management, and dev teams at scale takes time. The process is messy. The pace is relentless. It's difficult to keep your design vision whole with every round of revisions — no matter which design tool you use.Today's workflows require a new way: design delivery. Zeplin combines not just new technology, but a set of principles to make fluid design delivery possible for even the largest organizations. These seven principles are at the center of how we work. Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?

💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

20 BS / 100

Zeplin is a low-BS platform that prioritizes functional substance over marketing atmosphere. It successfully uses a category-creation strategy (‘Design Delivery’) that is backed by real feature depth rather than semantic vaporware.

To reach a minimal BS score, Zeplin should include outbound links to full, verified case studies for the logos displayed on the homepage. They should implement a public status page link to verify uptime claims. Finally, adding transparent pricing tiers to the sub-pages would eliminate the ‘SaaS mystery’ element often found in enterprise-leaning marketing.

The content perfectly aligns with the SaaS and Tech category, specifically targeting the UI/UX design to development workflow. The terminology used, such as ‘design specs,’ ‘version history,’ and ‘Jira integration,’ is highly industry-specific and confirms the classification.

“The score of 20 is driven primarily by trust theatre patterns (logos without direct links) and minor concept repetition. The site excels in semantic coherence and identity, showing no disconnect between what is promised in the hero section and what is detailed in the feature documentation.”
