Further, the State Of California has also passed a new ordinance that will take effect in January of 2025 where plastic film bags will be banned throughout the state. [IMG: Surgical Mask] COVID-19 updates2/15/2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Beginning February 16th, Alameda County and The City of Berkeley will be lifting the requirement that vaccinated people wear masks in most public indoor spaces https://bit.ly/3oKjWsW. Berkeley Public Health has advised that continuing to wear a face-covering indoors is still strongly recommended, particularly in crowded places. Businesses will set policies on their own premises. Here at Berkeley Bowl, we are committed to making decisions and prioritizing the safety of our staff and customers to the best of our abilities. Those familiar with our stores know that at peak times, it can become quite crowded. At Berkeley Bowl, we recommend the continued use of face masks, but they are no longer a requirement to shop in our stores. We will continue to monitor advice and safety precautions as they are released from National, State, County, and Local authorities, and will adjust policies accordingly to maintain compliance while ensuring we keep the safety of our customers and staff first priority. We thank you in advance for your support. Our bulk section is fully re-opened; customers are able to use clean, reusable produce bags and bulk containers. Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc., a Portland, Ore., establishment, is expanding its Feb. 19, 2026, recall of frozen not ready-to-eat (NRTE) chicken products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically glass, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The establishment is recalling approximately 33,617,045 additional pounds of various ready-to-eat (RTE) and NRTE chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and shu mai dumpling products, for a combined total of 36,987,575 pounds subject to recall.
This expansion includes 16 products produced between October 21, 2024, and February 26, 2026, under brand names Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei, and Trader Joe’s. These products have best-by dates ranging from February 28, 2026, through August 19, 2027. View product list. View labels.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number P-18356, P-18356B, or P-47971 inside the USDA mark of inspection. The items were shipped to retail locations nationwide. Certain Ajinomoto items were exported to Canada and Mexico.
The problem was discovered when the establishment notified FSIS that it received multiple consumer complaints involving glass found in product. Upon further investigation, the establishment determined that a vegetable source ingredient, specifically carrots, was the likely source of the glass contamination, which also impacted the additional products subject to this expanded recall. There have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in retailers’ or consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
Members of the media with questions about the recall can contact Corporate PR at MediaInquiry@ajinomotofoods.com or call (909) 477-4800. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Consumer Affairs, Ajinomoto Foods North America, at (855) 742-5011 or email at customercare@ajinomotofoods.com.
Consumers with food safety questions can call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov. For consumers that need to report a problem with a meat, poultry, or egg product, the online Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System can be accessed 24 hours a day at https://foodcomplaint.fsis.usda.gov/eCCF/.

Diva Fam Inc. ("Diva Fam" or the "Company") today (January 9, 2026) announced a voluntary recall of all lots and flavors of Sea Moss Gel Superfood due to lack of required regulatory authorization and temperature monitoring records for pH-controlled food products.
PH-controlled food products that are not manufactured in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements may present a potential risk of microbial growth, including organisms that can produce toxins associated with botulism. Botulism is a rare but serious illness that can affect the nervous system. Symptoms may include general weakness, dizziness, double vision, difficulty speaking or swallowing, and, in severe cases, difficulty breathing or muscle weakness.
No illnesses or adverse health events have been reported in connection with the products subject to this recall to date.

Recalled product includes all flavors and sizes and batch numbers of True Sea Moss brand Sea Moss Gel Superfood packaged in 16 FL OZ (473 mL) glass jars, manufactured prior to January 9, 2026. The manufacture date (MFD) is indicated on the can lid.

Organic Spices Inc of Fremont, CA is withdrawing its Spicely Brand Cream of Tartar 3 oz JAR, LOT # 104259, BEST IF USED BY 07/16/2031 because it is labeled as ORGANIC and it is only a CONVENTIONAL (non-organic) spice. There are no health issues with the product. This withdrawal is due to misinformation of the Organic claim, while the product is Conventional. Spicely Brand Cream of Tartar 3 oz Jar (LOT #104259, BEST IF USED BY 07/16/2031) was distributed to distributors and retailers such as grocery stores and natural food stores located in the United States between August 1, 2025 and January 4, 2026. The LOT # and BEST IF USED BY information can be found on the back of the product in black ink. The withdrawal was a result of finding a printing error, claiming that the product is certified Organic. It is not Organic, but only a Conventional spice. The company has identified 3,624 jars that used the Organic label incorrectly. No illnesses have been reported, or would be expected as the safety of the product is not in question. However, we are notifying our customers, partners, and consumers of this misleading claim. We have destroyed all labeling and are reproducing with correct labels that do not have the Organic claim. While there are no health concerns, for full transparency, consumers expecting an Organic product are urged not to consume the mislabeled product. For fastest response, consumers may contact the company by submitting an email to support@spicelyorganics.zendesk.com to start a ticket. If email is not available to you please contact (510) 962-8073, from 7 am – 1 pm Monday-Friday Pacific time.

Sonoma, CA — Primavera Nueva Inc. is voluntarily recalling certain lots of its 4-count tamales because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Product was distributed by Primavera Nueva Inc. in California and Nevada to retail stores.
The following 4-count tamales, produced between October 10, 2024 and October 10, 2025 are included:
Roasted Green Chile & Jack Cheese
Black Bean Bonanza & Jack Cheese
Butternut Squash w/ Roasted Green Chiles & Cheese
BBQ Chipotle Bean & White Cheddar
Mushroom Spinach & Salsa with Two Cheeses
Roasted Green Chile
Black Bean Bonanza
Butternut Squash w/ Roasted Green Chiles
Mushroom Spinach & Salsa
Roasted Pumpkin & White Cheddar.
No other Primavera Nueva products are affected.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The products were made with a frozen ingredient labeled “Not Ready to Eat. Must Be Thoroughly Cooked Before Eating.” During an FDA inspection on October 10, 2025, the agency determined that earlier production records did not consistently verify internal cooking temperatures needed to control potential biological hazards, including Listeria monocytogenes, n organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Primavera Nueva has fully corrected the issue—enhanced cooking-temperature monitoring and verification have been in place since October 11, 2025.
Consumer Guidance
Consumers who have tamales with date codes 10/22 (year 2024) - 10/22 (year 2025) should not consume the product and should discard it.

Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Unclear / Mixed / Unclassifiable Industry BS: Berkeley Bowl Marketplace (berkeleybowl.com)
Berkeley Bowl is a forensic anomaly in the digital landscape: a site with almost zero bullshit. It functions as a transparent, high-utility operational extension of a physical store, providing more raw data (recalls, UPCs, prices) than marketing adjectives.
Consolidate the heading hierarchy on the homepage; currently, ‘Return Policy’ is improperly tagged as the H1 while buried at the bottom of the page content. Add Person schema for the founders or key department leads mentioned in the careers or cookbook sections to further strengthen identity markers. Link the review counts directly to independent third-party platforms to move the proof link count from 1 to a higher verified status. Update the COVID-19 update section which, as of May 2026, references 2022 policies and contributes to slight content staleness.
The site perfectly matches the local independent grocery retail category. Every page focuses on physical store operations, inventory specifics like bulk department rules, and community-centric activities like trail mix contests and local pop-up vendors.
“The score of 7 is driven by minor technical hierarchy issues and a legacy COVID-19 policy section that hasn't been removed. Otherwise, the site is a benchmark for high-substance, low-fluff business communication.”
