SUB-PAGE (https://dignityfunerals.co.uk/what-to-do-when-someone-dies/) What to Do When Someone Dies | First Steps After a Death | Dignity Funerals
[H2] A timeline of what to do when someone dies When someone dies, there are many things which you will need to take care of, from registering the death to notifying particular organisations. We recommend notifying your funeral director as soon as possible, so you can receive advice and support on the next steps of funeral planning and everything in-between. Understanding what you need to do may help ease some of the stress or confusion you may be feeling. [H3] Stage 1: Obtain a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death As soon as someone dies, you should call a doctor. They'll be able to issue a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. You will then need to find a funeral director, and arrange for the deceased to be collected and brought into their care. [H3] Stage 2: Register the death You must register the death in the country where your loved one died. You'll need to find a register office in the area where the death occurred and make an appointment. You'll also need to bring certain documents with you, such as the deceased's passport and Birth Certificate. [H3] Stage 3: Contact your funeral director You can contact your funeral director as early as stage one, so they can prepare to bring your loved one into their care. If you haven’t already, contact your funeral director as soon as possible to be guided through the next steps. When getting started on making funeral arrangements, you will need to consider the type of funeral, coffin, travel arrangements and other details such as flowers and readings. [H3] Stage 4: Deal with the estate If your loved one left behind a will, the named 'executor' will deal with the estate. If there isn't a will, a relative will be appointed as an 'administrator' in order to deal with this. Inform Tell Us Once about the death within the first two weeks. They will tell authorities and government services that your loved one has passed away, rather than having to contact each authority separately. The deceased's social media accounts will need to be dealt with too. [IMG: Image Description] [H2] Has a loved one passed away? If someone has passed, please call us immediately. Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 2385 businesses audited.
Unclear / Mixed / Unclassifiable Industry BS: Dignity Funerals Limited (www.dignityfunerals.co.uk)
Dignity Funerals presents a professionally structured corporate facade that successfully communicates scale but fails to prove current excellence. The score is held back from being lower by the clear regulatory disclosures and practical informational guides, but it is inflated by the use of stale ‘ghost’ testimonials and repetitive template blocks.
Immediately update the testimonial carousel with reviews from the last 12 months to eliminate the 55-month credibility gap. Populate the author fields in the Article schema with actual experts or the brand entity to fix the technical authority gaps. Add specific H1 tags to the Memorials and Funeral Plans pages to improve hierarchy. Replace the subjective ‘distinction’ and ‘highest standards’ language with actual service SLAs or current industry award certifications.
The site is a perfect match for the funeral services and prepaid funeral plans industry. Every page focuses on end-of-life logistics, bereavement support, or memorial products, confirming its role as a service provider in the UK death-care sector.
“The score of 42 is primarily driven by Commodity Fingerprint (10/15) and Information Density (12/30). The lack of recent proof and the use of generic industry clichés are the main contributors to the BS rating, while the site's strong Semantic Coherence (3/20) keeps it from entering the high-BS territory.”
This training module utilizes a snapshot of public data from Dignity Funerals Limited, captured on May 21, 2026, to demonstrate how machine logic evaluates different types of business narratives.
