From the initial introduction of informing them of the death right through to the funeral itself, nothing was too much trouble and excellent communication throughout of the funeral arrangements and its progress.
Even the room where we sat for the initial notification of death was tastefully decorated complete with a grand piano, unlike some funeral parlours where you almost sit in a shop-window set-up.
Chris was the first person we met, whom we notified of the death and who took us through the type of funeral service we were after and the coffin type selection and what we wanted for the route by the hearse to the crematorium etc. He showed great sympathy throughout the meeting helping put my mother-in-law’s mind at rest that her late husband was in good hands.
In subsequent communications, we also dealt with Jonathan, who was equally professional and once again, nothing was too much trouble for him.
The day of the funeral went very smoothly with the hearse turning up to the house in plenty of time, then following the route that we had asked for through to the actual funeral itself.

After initially pursuing a career as a music teacher, I found my true calling in the funeral profession in 1996. My journey led me to study for the National Association of Funeral Directors Diploma, which I proudly earned in 2001. Since then, I have had the honour of arranging and conducting funerals for countless families, both locally and further afield.
Sharing my knowledge and experiences has always been important to me. I have given a series of talks to the staff at St David's Hospice on best practices in care of the deceased and have spoken to various agencies about my role as a funeral director. My extensive knowledge of local funeral practices has allowed me to build close relationships with local clergy, funeral celebrants, solicitors, florists, and other funeral service providers.
I live with my family in Rhos on Sea, where we enjoy the beauty of our community. In my spare time, I love taking long walks with my dogs and immersing myself in classical music. I'm also a keen watch collector with a deep interest in all things horological.

I have been privileged to serve as a Funeral Director for over 30 years. Educated locally through the medium of Welsh, I originally trained as a teacher but felt a strong pull towards the funeral profession, following in the footsteps of my great-grandfather. Over the years, I have had the honour of helping hundreds of families say a fitting farewell to their loved ones.
Fairness, transparency, and sustainability are principles I deeply believe in and advocate for within the funeral industry. In 2019, I was immensely proud to receive a Llandudno Town Council Award in recognition of my support for bereaved families within our community.
I have been a resident of Penrhyn Bay since the 1980s and live happily there with my wife and sons. My interests are varied and include astronomy, science, photography, woodwork, 3D printing, and design. I have also served as Chair of the North Wales Astronomy Society and am a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. And yes, I do visit the gym occasionally!

For those who are aware that their loved ones would have wanted little fuss, when a service of any kind is not desired, or when cost is a consideration, our Direct Cremation enables a simple, dignified cremation to take place with minimal fees. There is no option for a service in the chapel.

Our charges include:

Personal consultations with you at your home or our funeral home to discuss the funeral arrangements.

The collection of the deceased from their place of death, within a fifty mile radius, transfer to our funeral home, full care and preparation.

Advice and assistance to enable you to complete the registration process prior to the funeral.

Processing and delivering all necessary paperwork.

A coffin suitable for cremation and transfer to the crematorium in a suitable funeral vehicle.

Cremation Fee

An online obituary notice, and listing and administering any in memoriam donations.

Collection of the cremated remains from the crematorium, in a scattering container.

We strongly believe that every family should have the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones before the funeral takes place if they wish. Our charges include the availability of our viewing room at any time if required. We are available 24 hours a day.

The cremation will take place at Denbighshire Memorial Park & Crematorium. A Direct Cremation at Colwyn Bay will incur £125.00 Extra.

Simple Service

Our Simple service offers a short dignified ceremony at Colwyn Bay Crematorium. This intimate service accommodates up to 20 mourners and lasts for 15 minutes, allowing you to reflect and celebrate your loved one’s life. Colwyn Bay Crematorium have the provision to hold this service at either 9:00am to 9:45pm. Whilst a minister or funeral celebrant cannot officiate, family members are warmly invited to share memories and deliver eulogies. Personalized music of your choice will enhance the experience, creating a meaningful farewell.

Our charges include:

A Traditional Funeral gives you full scope for personalisation. With our help and advice you can decide on the particular aspects of the service that you would like, creating a unique ceremony to your exact requirements. Our professional charges include our availability to you 24 hours a day for consultation and advice, making all necessary arrangements on your behalf following discussions at the location of your choice, and liaising with all necessary third parties. We will co-ordinate, complete and deliver all paperwork. Our fees also include preparation for viewing and full use of our viewing room at any time. We will direct and co-ordinate the funeral and administer charitable donations on your behalf. Our service to you does not end once the funeral is over. We are available to you to give guidance and advice on any matters arising, at any time, subsequent to the funeral.

About our pre-paid funeral plans

Planning ahead for your funeral is one of the most thoughtful and caring things you can do. Some people never get round to discussing funeral wishes with their loved ones, which can lead to all sorts of worry and anxiety when the time comes.
Taking out a funeral plan is a simple and straightforward way to remove this worry, and it can provide real financial benefits too. Some of the other benefits include:

Pre-arrange the details of your funeral and record any special wishes, such as hymns, music choice and any other personal touches you would like your plan to include

Make financial provision for your funeral

Choose your funeral director in advance

Ensure your family has access to expert help and advice at a difficult time

Our funeral plan is available to UK residents and there are no complicated medical forms to complete. You can also appoint a nominated representative who we will keep informed about your plan, according to your instructions.
Our plans cover our costs (as specified in the plan paperwork) as long as we carry out the funeral and your requirements don’t change. You can also make a contribution towards third party costs, such as the cremation fees. These costs are outside of our control.

Our funeral plans are provided by Ecclesiastical Planning Services Limited, which is part of a specialist, UK-based financial services group.

Flexible payment options

You can choose to pay for your funeral plan by lump sum or in instalments. There is an additional cost for paying over two or more years and eligibility criteria applies. Please refer to the Instalment Q&A and the Terms and Conditions for more information. Your funeral director will be able to provide you with a personalised quote.
Once your funeral plan is in place, you’ll receive a welcome booklet containing the details of your plan and your funeral plan certificate. Your nominated representative will also receive a copy if you request this.

Arranging a funeral can be a daunting task, at a time of huge stress and emotion.We will arrange to meet you either at your home, or our funeral home in the heart of Llandudno, and guide you through all matters that need your consideration. We will talk you through the choices you have, and the procedures we need to follow.
When you have made decisions on what form the funeral will take, we will make all the arrangements on your behalf. We will talk to local clergy or celebrants, and put them in contact with you. We will liaise with the crematorium or cemeteries office and prepare all the necessary paperwork required. We can provide help and guidance with funeral music, wording for newspaper and online announcements, arrange flowers and organise printed service sheets.
We will provide a full written estimate of all the funeral costs after confirming the initial arrangements.
We have a calming, peaceful, visiting room at our funeral home. If you would like to spend time with the deceased before the funeral, we will arrange for you to visit at your convenience, unhurried and undisturbed.
