[H2] What Is An LED Low Bay?
LED low bays are ideal for warehouses and commercial premises, offering a low energy, low maintenance alternative to traditional metal halide (HQI) and sodium (SON) low bays. The energy savings are vast, often saving around 50% on energy costs compared to traditional lighting methods.
The savings are even more substantial when maintenance costs are considered as these fittings can be installed and then forgotten about. No lamp or tube changes are required and the fitting will typically last for over 50,000 hours. Unlike older metal halide and sodium fittings, LED fittings will only lose a small amount of their light output over the life of the fitting too. LED also offers instant start (unlike metal halide and sodium which require warm up times).

Different buildings and warehouses require different levels of lighting depending on the task at hand. There are several points to factor in such as the amount of natural light and the lux levels required, therefore it is always best to check before ordering.

These fittings were designed with quick and easy fitting in mind. Most come pre-wired with cable and hooks to allow quick hanging from chains or suspension kits.
[H2] Can You Add Sensors For Extra Savings?
Sensors can be added to many fittings to provide an additional energy saving, switching the light fittings off when there is no one in range. Ideal for areas in large warehouses where there is little activity for prolonged periods, saving electricity and money in the process.
In more recent times, control systems have become very popular as they allow the fittings to be controlled by a computer, phone or tablet to suit the users needs. We are able to offer Bluetooth, Casambi & more control systems to allow the maximum flexibility.

[H2] What Is Emergency Lighting?
Emergency lighting is battery powered lighting which will switch on and illuminate when the power is cut from the mains. This is usually for the people inside the building to find their way out of the building in a safe manner. Guidelines now exist which mean all new larger buildings must have the correct emergency lighting fitted whilst older buildings must retro-fit emergency lighting to ensure the building is as safe as possible.
[H2] What Types Of Emergency Lighting Are There?
There are a variety of different types of emergency lighting which are available to suit whatever lighting need you may have. The most traditional type of emergency lighting are the internal and external bulkhead emergency fittings. These usually have a polycarbonate body and tray which houses all the components and most of these will operate for three hours without any mains power and will recharge when the mains power has been restored.There are a variety of different shapes, however the most popular by far are the circular and rectangular shaped bulkheads which will stretch from 8W to 28W usually. In recent times, more decorative products have hit the market. Interior and exterior bulkheads which can be purchased with emergency gear inside so they will light when there is a power cut.Another very popular type of emergency lighting are the illuminated fire exit signs which light up to show you where the exits are. These can be maintained or non maintained (more on this further down the article) and come in a variety of styles to suit the décor in your building. These are another legal requirement in buildings with a high footfall or a public building such as a school, hotel or retail building.LED emergency lighting is now starting to become very popular thanks to its energy saving benefits. A lot of illuminated exit signs are now LED and are virtually maintenance free thanks to the fact the LEDs in the fitting will last for over 30,000 hours without needing to be replaced.

LED downlights are also a newer addition to the market over the last few years and there is an emergency option available with comes complete with battery pack should the mains power cut. 1 watt and 3 watt version are available producing over 75 lumens of light in a discreet profile.It is also vitally important to replace batteries as soon as they are no longer working correctly. There are several different types of emergency lighting batteries – inline and side-by-side are the two most popular types. [H2] What Buildings Am I Likely To See Emergency Lighting In?
All buildings which have a large footfall or are reliant on artificial lighting are obliged to have emergency lighting installed as a legal requirement. This is usually so the people inside can find their way out in the event of an emergency. Hotels, theatres, cinemas, apartments, flats, warehousing, retail shops, pubs and restaurants are just some of the places you will find emergency lighting.Stairwells and exit routes are the places which are most likely to be illuminated when the power is cut along with first aid areas, refuge points and fire equipment areas.
[H2] What Is The Difference Between Maintained & Non-Maintained?
When looking for the emergency lighting fitting you require, you are likely to come across the terms 'maintained' and 'non-maintained'. These phrases are terminology usually associated with emergency lighting products, but what is the difference?Maintained fittings are ones which can be operated like a regular light fitting and can be left permanently on or can just operate when there is a power cut.Non maintained fittings will only illuminate in the event of a power cut. Many fittings can now be wired either maintained or non maintained to suit the preference of the user.

There are many types of floodlight on the market which are perfect for a number of uses, take a quick look at the different options below to decide what is best for your needs.
[H2] LED Floodlights
LED floodlights are a popular alternative to traditional metal halide, sodium and halogen floodlights. The drawback of a bigger initial outlay to purchase the product is far outweighed by the energy saving benefits that the LED floodlights have to offer.
Not only do LED floodlights have low running costs, they usually now last for 50,000+ hours depending on the type of fitting, meaning that they will remain virtually maintenance free (apart from the odd clean!). [H2] Metal Halide
The metal halide group of floodlights are one of the most popular and most used types of floodlight on the market today thanks to the broad spectrum of applications it can suit. Our floodlights start at 70 watts and stretch to an incredible 2000 watts.
Metal halide fittings are compact by nature yet powerful in size and produce a crisp white/blue light, perfect for good colour rendering should you require any illumination for recording equipment such as CCTV. Lower wattage metal halide floodlights are perfect for outside a building or house, however these types of floodlights are not ideal for on/off operation and lend themselves perfectly for constant illumination. [H2] Sodium Floodlights
The softer orange light emitted by these floodlights are ideal for more industrial and commercial applications and will often be seen outside factories and other industrial premises for either security reasons or to help people see at night outside without causing a copious amount of light pollution.

[H2] Portable Floodlights
Offering a versatile lighting solution, the portable floodlights range includes numerous, robust, rechargeable floodlights which can be used for numerous applications. Sports pitches can be illuminated at night thanks to RL20K portable floodlight unit, with 8 units illuminating a 60x40 metre area.
LEDs are used in these units to provide a low energy, zero emission, silent lighting solution. Many of the products are NightSearcher, who use robust materials to produce a light source which is weatherproof and can be used in virtually all weather conditions, all year round. Other sectors which can benefit from using portable floodlights are aviation (many airports require portable lighting), railways (inspection), and industrial and building sites - where wired lighting is awkward to install and can be dangerous with trailing cables.

Industrial site floodlights are ideal for when temporary lighting is required and the floodlights are available from 70 watts up to 400 watts depending on the amount of lighting required.
Many of these floodlights are yellow in colour to ensure that they stand out and use the crisp light from metal halide lamps to provide illumination.
