This has enabled the construction of a multi-talented and experienced team of landscape artists led by Rory Tompsett a fully qualified HND Landscape Science Principal with over 40 years of landscape based experience.

Actual Landscapes recognise that developing skills and competence at all levels requires investment in its staff. Actual Landscapes has an on-going evaluation and training programme in conjunction with the Coleg Cambria and Work Based Learning Programmes – two of the staff have won Learner of the Year awards.
The Design Team is lead by Rory Tompsett (HND Landscape Science & Design) who provide a creative, qualified and experienced team who understand client requirements and the full implications of installation techniques.
The entire process comes under one roof, reducing the dilution of the design principles that can happen when dealing with separate designers and contractors.

These awards are a significant achievement and a testament to our dedication to creating remarkable landscapes.
We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the Silver-Gilt Medal for two exceptional garden projects, each recognised for its outstanding design, execution, and impact.
First, the Oasis Garden was a standout in the Future Spaces Gardens category, not only earning the Silver-Gilt Medal but also winning Best Future Spaces Garden and Best Show Garden, Future Spaces and Young Designer. This garden addressed the challenges of rising future temperatures by creating microclimates within an urban apartment complex’s south-facing courtyard.
The garden’s lush, diverse planting palette, including a striking Malus ‘Almey’ crab apple tree and a variety of sun-loving and shade-thriving plants, provides a serene retreat for residents. The innovative design, featuring large pyramid structures that absorb heat and green living walls that cool the space, demonstrates how thoughtful landscaping can create beautiful, functional environments even in challenging conditions.
Our My Name’5 Doddie Garden, was also awarded the Silver-Gilt Medal and honoured with the People’s Choice Best Show Garden and Best Construction Award. This garden paid tribute to Doddie Weir, the legendary Scotland rugby international who dedicated his life to raising awareness and funding research for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) after his diagnosis.
The garden’s design reflects Doddie’s personal tartan, and is wheelchair accessible, offering a space where families affected by MND can relax and enjoy time together, continuing to serve this purpose after its relocation post-show.
