Share your game with us As well as developing our own IPs, we support indie developers with a dream to bring their own games to players who will love them! We’ve had the privilege of working with a number of passionately developed titles made by small teams such as Eastward by Pixpil, ConcernedApe’s Stardew Valley and the upcoming Loco Motive by Robust Games. We’re developers too, and understand the challenges of making a game. We strongly believe in every project we support and connect with creators with a clear vision who could use a helping hand to develop their game. We’re a small team who work with a very limited number of games at a time so we can give each game we sign the time and attention it needs to find its audience. In addition to working hard to support each game we sign, we work to equip developers with skills and resources to achieve success and independence!Pixpil’s EastwardHopoo Games’ Risk of RainConcernedApe’s Stardew ValleyWe’ve put together a blog post detailing some tips and suggestions for pitching to us – or any other publisher! [H1] Our Story We are an independent game developer and publisher, based in London, UK, with a love of charming pixel art and a drive to support and create amazing games. When Finn Brice founded Chucklefish in 2011, we were just a handful of first-time developers spread across the globe, with no studio experience or funding, just a big idea for a massive space game – Starbound. Thanks to the overwhelming support of our community, we were able to fund Starbound’s development on Steam Early Access, and in 2014 we stopped working out of our bedrooms to relocate to a cosy office in London.Since then, Chucklefish has expanded quite a bit! We’re now a team of 18 full-time staff and have released our second game, Wargroove. We’ve also been able to support other indie developers with some elements of their development and publishing, including ConcernedApe’s Stardew Valley and Pixpil’s Eastward. With our third in-house game, Witchbrook, in the works as well as many exciting projects from our publishing partners, we’ve never been more proud to remain independent. Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 1884 businesses audited.
Chucklefish has 15.5 points less BS than the average for Arts, Culture & Entertainment.
Arts, Culture & Entertainment BS: Chucklefish (chucklefish.org)
Chucklefish provides a masterclass in low-BS business communication by leading with their portfolio and team. The site functions as a legitimate record of work rather than a marketing funnel, resulting in a highly credible digital presence.
Repair the broken Jobs page (404) to maintain technical credibility and professional authority. Expand JSON-LD schema to include Organization and Person types with sameAs links to verify the digital footprint of the leadership team. Integrate direct external proof paths, such as links to Metacritic or major press reviews, for each featured game. Update the Publishing page modification date (last updated 2023) to reflect current activity levels for prospective partners.
The website perfectly matches the Arts, Culture & Entertainment category, specifically within the video game development and publishing sub-sector. The content consistently focuses on creative output, community engagement, and independent artistic production.
“The score of 17 reflects a very high degree of substance. Information Density and Semantic Coherence scored near-perfectly due to the abundance of specific names and titles. The majority of points were lost in Identity and Authority due to the 404 error on a key sub-page and the relatively basic technical implementation of structured data.”
This training module utilizes a snapshot of public data from Chucklefish, captured on June 20, 2026, to demonstrate how machine logic evaluates different types of business narratives.
Purpose: This data is presented under “Fair Use” / “Educational Exception” for the purpose of forensic semantic analysis, allowing users to compare human intuition against machine-generated evaluations.
Notice to Chucklefish: This analysis is part of a non-adversarial audit conducted by 1 Euro SEO. The results provided by 1EuroSEO are intended as professional feedback to help improve any website’s machine-readability and authority signals. The 1EuroSEO BS Detection Tool is a free tool, and anyone can test any company to see how their content is interpreted by AI models.
Any company can use the insights for free and improve its voice by comparing it to industry clichés or competitors. When a company has updated its content, it can always submit a new audit request, which will be reflected in a new current score.
To all users: You are encouraged to visit the live site at https://chucklefish.org to view the most current version of its content and learn from the source what this company is about and what it offers.
