What is Ko-fi?

Does Ko-fi take a fee?

Can I use Ko-fi if I’m just starting out?

Absolutely! Ko-fi is perfect for creators of all sizes. We're all about letting you do your thing, at your pace – no need to rush or churn out content to a schedule. Grow your support at your own pace without the pressure.

How do I get paid on Ko-fi?

You get paid directly and instantly into your own PayPal or Stripe account. Ko-fi never processes or holds funds, so no waiting around for payouts.

Supporters can pay you via PayPal, Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, CashApp and loads of local payment methods.
They’re your fans so they’re your payments!

How is Ko-fi different from other services like Patreon?

Ko-fi puts creators first, giving you full control over how you connect with your fans.

You decide what to offer, set your own prices and terms and get paid directly and instantly through your own PayPal or Stripe account.

Who is the merchant of record?

You are. You’re the one making the sale and receiving the payment into your own payment account. Ko-fi doesn't act as an intermediary, take payment or manage your supporters.

Do I need my own payment account?

Yes. You’ll need a PayPal or Stripe account to receive payments.
Supporters pay you directly. Ko-fi is never the recipient of your funds.

Will I find new supporters on Ko-fi?

Ko-fi provide the tools to help you get paid by people who already
follow and value your work. We have tons of guides and resources to
help you succeed as a creator.

What does Ko-fi charge?

To support Ko-fi’s development, most creators pay a 5% fee per transaction. This appears as an 'application' or 'partner' fee in your payment provider report, but don’t worry we don't ever take control of your money.

Who sets the terms?

You do. Whether it’s delivery timelines, revision policies, or refund
conditions, you can set the terms your supporters agree to when they
pay.

Can I manage sales tax?

Yes. You can choose to add VAT, GST or other taxes wherever you are
registered to do so. It’s your responsibility to collect and remit any
taxes that apply.
