Industry Context — Common BS Fingerprints in Crypto, Blockchain & Web3
Generic Claims: the future of finance, revolutionizing the financial system, passive income with crypto, guaranteed returns…
Red Flags: anonymous team with no verifiable identities, guaranteed return percentages on investments, urgency and FOMO language in token sales, roadmap with no completed milestones…
Semantic Drift Patterns: whitepaper describes complex technology but product is a simple token swap, roadmap promises features already months overdue, homepage claims decentralized but team controls majority of tokens, claims community governance but all decisions are team-made…
Proof Expectations: published and verifiable smart contract audit reports, named team members with verifiable LinkedIn or GitHub profiles, live on-chain metrics and contract addresses, specific VC or investor names with verifiable investment rounds…

[H2] Frequently asked questions
I’ve heard big exchanges are safe now, do I really need a hardware wallet?Even today, exchange hacks still happen, and users lose funds they thought were safe. Holding your crypto on an exchange means you don’t truly control it, the exchange does. With Trezor you stay in control of your keys, protected by industry-leading security and no third-party risk. Will my crypto be lost if I lose my Trezor? No—as long as you keep the wallet backup you create during setup, your crypto is safe. You can restore your entire wallet to a new Trezor device with that wallet backup, also known as a recovery phrase. Think of it as your secure recovery key. Just be sure to store your wallet backup safely offline, and never share it with anyone. Can I still use DeFi, NFTs, or swap coins with Trezor?Yes—and securely. Trezor supports WalletConnect so you can interact with DeFi dApps like Uniswap, 1inch, or NFT marketplaces like OpenSea directly from your hardware wallet. You can trade, stake, and swap while keeping full control of your private keys. And with Trezor Suite, our native companion app, you can buy, sell, swap, and stake selected cryptocurrencies all in the most intuitive, secure environment possible. Trade crypto with the peace of mind that your keys never leave your device. Is owning my own crypto too technical or complicated? Not at all. Trezor makes it simple to take control of your assets. As a non-custodial wallet, Trezor ensures only you hold the keys to your crypto. The setup process is straightforward, with an intuitive interface and clear step-by-step guidance. This makes self-custody easy, keeping your crypto securely in your hands without unnecessary complexity.I only have a small amount of crypto. Do I still need a hardware wallet?Yes—even if you’re starting with a small amount, protecting it now can pay off later. Crypto is a long-term game, and what’s worth a few hundred dollars today could be worth significantly more in the future. A hardware wallet like Trezor ensures that no matter how your holdings grow, they’re safe from day one. What makes Trezor different from other crypto wallets?Trezor is built on open-source security, with code that’s fully transparent and reviewed by experts worldwide. Unlike custodial wallets or exchanges, Trezor gives you true cold storage with offline keys that never leave your device.Features such as an optional passphrase, phishing protection, community verification, and Tropic01—the world’s first transparent and auditable Secure Element—deliver next-gen protection that’s purpose-built for self-custody. And the new Trezor Safe 7, the first-ever hardware wallet with quantum-ready security, gives crypto owners the strongest foundation for safe and independent control of their assets for the future. Are there hidden fees when using Trezor? With Trezor, pricing is fully transparent, meaning there are no hidden fees or surprise costs. When you buy, sell, or swap crypto in Trezor Suite, you always see the full cost upfront and can choose the best available offer, with support for local payments where possible. When you send crypto, you only pay the standard transaction fee, which goes to the network (e.g., Bitcoin miners or Ethereum validators), not Trezor.

[H2] Frequently asked questions
What does a hardware wallet do?A hardware wallet is a small physical device that keeps your crypto safe. It securely stores your important information offline, away from the internet, so it’s protected from hackers and viruses. When you want to move your crypto, use the device to approve the action—never exposing your info online. Are hardware wallets connected to the internet? No, your Trezor wallet never connects to the internet—keeping your sensitive information protected from online threats. What is the difference between a hot wallet and a hardware wallet?A hot wallet stores your private keys on a device that’s connected to the internet - such as a mobile wallet app, desktop wallet, or browser extension. Because the keys are on an internet-connected device, they’re more exposed to hacks, malware, and outages. A hardware wallet like Trezor stores your private keys in a secure offline device, keeping them isolated from the internet even when you connect it to make a transaction. How long do crypto hardware wallets last?Trezor devices are built to last for years with proper care. There’s no built-in expiration—you only need to get a replacement if the hardware is damaged. Is there a subscription or monthly fee to use Trezor or Trezor Suite, or is it a one-time purchase?Trezor is a one-time purchase with no monthly fees—ever. Use both the device and Trezor Suite with no recurring costs. Why is a hardware wallet better?A hardware wallet keeps your private keys completely offline, protecting them from online threats like hacking, malware, and account freezes. Hot wallets - such as a mobile wallet app, desktop wallet, or browser extension - are convenient for quick access, but keep your keys on internet-connected devices, which increases their exposure to attacks. Many people use a hardware wallet for long-term storage and a hot wallet for small, everyday amounts. How to transfer assets to a hardware wallet?Connect Trezor > Open Trezor Suite > Select account > Generate and copy receive address > Paste into sending app or exchange. Voilà!What if you've lost your hardware wallet?Lost your Trezor? Don’t worry—your funds are safe if you have your wallet backup. Just set up a new Trezor and enter the wallet backup words you wrote down during setup. Make sure your backup is stored safely—without it, you can’t recover your assets. What is stored on a hardware wallet?A hardware wallet stores the information needed to access and manage your coins. This information stays safe on the device and never goes online. Even if your phone or computer is hacked, your coins remain protected on a hardware wallet.

[H2] Frequently asked questions
What does Trezor Suite app do?Trezor Suite is the official app for managing your Trezor hardware wallet. On desktop, you can securely buy, sell, stake, swap, and send assets while keeping full control of your private keys. It also includes portfolio tracking, transaction history, and advanced security features. On mobile (iOS and Android), you can buy, sell, and send assets with the same security and privacy. The mobile app is continuously being improved to bring more features. Can I use Trezor with my phone?Yes. All Trezor devices work with Android. Trezor Safe 7 also works with iOS via Bluetooth.Trezor Safe 7 → Full compatibility on iOS and Android.Trezor Safe 5, Trezor Safe 3, Trezor Model T, and Trezor Model One → Full compatibility on Android. Limited compatibility on iOS (supports portfolio tracking, buying, and receiving assets). To sign other transactions, Trezor Suite desktop is required.Which Trezor should I pick if I use an iPhone? For iPhone users who want full Trezor Suite functionality from their phone, such as sending, buying, selling, and device management—Trezor Safe 7 is the best choice. Its Bluetooth connection ensures seamless compatibility with iOS.Other Trezor models (Trezor Safe 5, Safe 3, and earlier) rely on a wired connection. On iOS, wired accessories require Apple-specific licensing that isn’t supported by these models. This means they can be used to track your portfolio, view assets, and buy through integrated providers on iOS, but a desktop or Android device is required to sign transactions.Do I have to use Trezor Suite, or can I connect with other wallets?Trezor devices are compatible with popular third-party wallet apps like MetaMask, Rabby, Electrum, Exodus, and Wasabi. However, Trezor Suite is recommended for the most seamless and secure experience since it’s built specifically for Trezor hardware. What coins and tokens does Trezor Suite support?Trezor Suite supports 1000s of coins and tokens, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, ERC-20 tokens, and many more. The list is updated as new assets are added. You can always check the latest supported assets on the supported coins and tokens page.Is a Bluetooth connection less secure than a USB connection?Wireless security comes standard with Trezor Safe 7. Both Bluetooth and USB-C connections are secured by Trezor Host Protocol (THP), encrypting every command and transaction so nothing can be intercepted, changed, or tampered with. The wallet stays hidden from unknown devices and uses open-source encryption to connect only to trusted devices and apps. This guarantees secure, encrypted communication—wired or wireless. What happens to my crypto assets if I lose my Trezor?Your crypto isn’t stored on your Trezor, so losing your device doesn’t mean losing your money. Your funds remain on the blockchain and are protected by your wallet backup. By entering your wallet backup (the set of words you created when setting up your Trezor), you can restore access on a new Trezor device or any other compatible wallet. What sets Trezor apart from other hardware wallets?Trezor was the first hardware wallet and has set the standard for over 10 years. With open-source code, independent security audits, and the Trezor Suite app, you get unmatched transparency and usability. With devices like the Safe 7, you also benefit from full iOS and Android support, a transparent Secure Element, and quantum-ready security. When will Trading be available in Trezor Suite for iOS?Trading isn’t available in the iOS version of Trezor Suite just yet. We’re currently working on bringing it to the App Store and awaiting regulation approval. Once approved, trading will gradually roll out, with availability depending on regional regulations.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Crypto, Blockchain & Web3 BS: Trezor (trezor.io)

https://trezor.io 📍 Industry: Crypto, Blockchain & Web3
22 BS / 100

Trezor delivers a high-substance technical product wrapped in a thin layer of ‘financial rebel’ marketing. While the identity schema is technically deficient, the depth of feature documentation and 12-year historical consistency make this a low-BS authority in the sector.

Implement Organization schema with sameAs links to official social profiles and Wikipedia to ground the brand identity. Provide direct, linked access to the ‘independent security audits’ mentioned in the FAQ. Replace vague H2 slogans like ‘Ultimate freedom’ with descriptive headings like ‘Isolated Private Key Architecture.’ Add Person schema for the ‘Trezor Experts’ to validate their authority.

The content perfectly aligns with the Crypto and Blockchain category, utilizing advanced technical concepts such as cold storage, self-custody, and hardware-level private key isolation. The language reflects established industry paradigms including ‘Your keys, your coins’ and ‘Don’t trust, verify.’

“The score of 22 is driven primarily by missing structured identity data (Pillar 5) and the lack of external validation links for heavy security claims (Pillar 3). The site avoids significant penalties in Semantic Coherence and Information Density due to its high volume of specific, technical deliverable language.”
