[H3] PURSUING STRATEGIC ENERGY TRANSITION OPPORTUNITIES FROM OUR EXISTING ASSETS WITH MNZ

With Morecambe Net Zero (MNZ), our Mission is to provide a permanent decarbonisation solution, converting the depleted South and North Morecambe gas fields off the coast of Barrow-in-Furness to provide a permanent, safe and secure carbon storage.
This state-of-the-art facility has the potential to be one of the UK’s largest carbon stores, capable of storing a gigaton of carbon dioxide - equivalent to three years’ worth of current UK carbon emissions.
Carbon dioxide will be transported to the site by pipeline, ship or rail, offering a long-term decarbonisation solution for emitting industries. This will allow carbon-intensive businesses to remain productive while meeting the UK’s Net Zero targets, securing thousands of jobs in traditional industrial heartlands and creating new employment opportunities.
For more than 40 years, Spirit Energy has operated the South Morecambe and North Morecambe fields. Once repurposed, the fields have the potential to form the core of a future low-carbon hub in the North West, which could attract millions of pounds in international investment and create new, highly-skilled green jobs.

[H3]
How does it work?

[H3]
What is CCUS

Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) is a way of reducing carbon dioxide from emitting industries, which can help them on the path to Net Zero. It follows a three-step process involving: capturing carbon dioxide produced by industrial activity, transporting it via pipeline, ship, or rail and then storing it deep underground permanently, so it cannot enter the atmosphere.

[H3]
Why is there a requirement?

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Climate Change Committee (CCC) highlighted that, if we are to limit future temperature increases to 1.5°C, we must do more than just reduce emissions – we also need to deploy technologies to prevent carbon from entering the atmosphere, and to support industries that cannot readily reduce their own emissions.
CCUS is the solution, and one of the very few technologies that can significantly decarbonise hard to abate industries such as iron & steel, fertiliser, cement and chemical. It has the potential to transform the UK economy - retaining thousands of industrial jobs, while also creating new and innovative green roles. According to Offshore Energies UK (OEUK), CCUS alone could attract £100bn in international investment by 2050.

[H3] PARTERNING TO DECARBONIZE 40% OF UK CEMENT & LIME INDUSTRY

[H3]
MNZ | PEAK CLUSTER PARTNERSHIP

The MNZ | Peak Cluster partnership will decarbonise 40% of the UK’s cement and lime industry and ensure that close to three million tonnes of CO₂ emissions from vital industry within Peak Cluster will be captured and permanently stored in Spirit Energy’s MNZ carbon store each year.
Peak Cluster is made up of four of the UK’s leading cement and lime producers. The project is set to generate the equivalent of £1.8bn GVA by 2050, creating and safeguarding more than 13,000 jobs across Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cumbria, and attracting a further £5bn of investment in construction and operations. It will also see a combined annual increase of £154m in skills uplift and wage increases.
In July 2025, the National Wealth Fund announced its first deal in carbon capture - a £28.6m investment to support Peak Cluster which, alongside industry financing, will support the project through to FID. By taking early development risk, the NWF said it was helping catalyse future investment into the project and across the full value CCS network.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?
Your predicted BS score 0 / 100
💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Energy, Utilities & Environmental Services BS: Spirit Energy (spirit-energy.com)

https://spirit-energy.com 📍 Industry: Energy, Utilities & Environmental Services
42 BS / 100

Spirit Energy avoids the ‘Extreme BS’ category by tethering its claims to a massive, identifiable physical asset (Morecambe Bay gas fields) and a specific government-backed investment. However, the site suffers from ‘Corporate Ghosting’—claiming massive authority and expertise while providing zero named leadership, zero schema, and zero verified proof paths for its internal review metrics. It is a site of two halves: one technically grounded in industrial reality, and one lost in generic recruitment and marketing templates.

Immediately implement Organization and Person schema to name key leadership and link their technical expertise to the MNZ project. Replace the generic review counts with links to actual regulatory filings or third-party project audits to eliminate the Trust Theatre flag. Add a specific project timeline or roadmap for the MNZ-Peak Cluster partnership to bridge the gap between 2025 funding and 2050 GVA projections. Repair the technical SEO hierarchy by adding H1 tags that include specific project nouns rather than slogans.

The content strongly confirms the classification, focusing heavily on Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) and the repurposing of North Sea gas assets. The terminology used, including ‘Morecambe Net Zero’ and ‘decarbonizing the cement industry,’ aligns perfectly with the Energy Transition sub-sector.

“The score of 42 is driven by high marks in 'Identity and Authority' (13/15) due to missing schema and named experts, and 'Trust and Proof' (12/20) due to unverified review counts. It scored well (low BS) in 'Semantic Coherence' (2/20) because the project details on sub-pages effectively support the homepage claims.”
