[H3] Discovery of Tengiz field

Tengiz oil field, located on the west part of Kazakhstan, was discovered in 1979. 18
December 1979 the first well in the field gave oil from presalt formation at the depth
of 4045 – 4095 meters. From beginning to middle of the eighties of the past century
drilling works were aggressively conducted on the territory of the field, and more than
hundred wells were drilled.

[H3] Tengizneftegas was formed
Tengizneftegas Production Association was established in February 1985 to develop the
giant field.

In June 1985, there was a fire in the well T-37. The fire lasted more than 400 days and
was liquidated with assistance of specialists of the Cameron American company.

[H3] Start of construction activities at Tengiz
In early 1986 construction works were aggressively carried out in oil field facilities,
with coming of spring – in the plant area. specialists and constructors from Western
German. France, Canada and Hungarian People's Republic arrived in Tengiz. The Hungarian
company Vedepsier construction of the Tengiz gas processing plant - KTL-1 and KTL-2
jontly with Lurgi German company, Canadian Lavalin and American - Litvin companies as
per the project developed by home oil institutes.

[H3] Launching Tengiz oil and gas complex
6 April 1991 Engineer Boris Vasilyev and operators Abdulkhamit Artygaliyev and Gafurin
Aubakirov launched the well T-8. Crude oil was delivered to the plant complex for
treatment from H2S and admixtures. Tengiz oilgas complex started.

Since 6 April 1993 signing of the agreement about establishment of Kazakh-American Joint
Venture on development of Tengiz field took place in Almaty. The Agreement was signed by
President of the RoK Nursultan Nazarbayev and Head of American Chevron oil corporation
Kenneth Derr. The established joint venture was given the name - TENGIZCHEVROIL.

[H3] Launch of Bonus Fund Atyrau program
Lorem Implementation of a five-year social investment program Bonus Fund Atyrau started
with the budget of $50 million. Construction of automated boiler and natural gas
pipeline started from the Redut village to the city boiler house with the capacity that
is sufficient for further gas supply to the city and adjacent communities in Atyrau. As
part of the Bonus Fund Atyrau program aggressive construction of bakery plant was in
progress and d repair and re-equipment of Atyrau oblast hospital was completed. First
aid assistance hospital was built in Kulsary and Atyrau Diagnostic Center equipped with
modern medical device, and was put into operation.

[H3] First modernization of oil complex
In 1997 the first major oil complex upgrade was completed in Tengiz – the
Debottlenecking project – Expansion of narrow areas was performed that allowed to
increase annual oil production up to 7 million tons. In the same year works on further
production capacity increase - Train 5 and Program 12 started. the projects were
completed in 2001 and allowed to increase production up to 12 million tons.

[H3] Start of Egilik social infrastructure projects
New Egilik voluntary program (in translation from Kazakh - "benefit") was launched. As
part of the current program on reconstruction of central bridge through the Ural river
in Atyrau as well as improvement of the oblast center $4 million was allocated. In the
following 2000 the budget of the program will make $5 million.

In early 2001 CPC pipeline was put into operation for transportation of Tengiz field to
oil stations of the Black Sea port.

[H3] Construction of Second Generation Plant and Sour Gas Injection complex
In 2001, SGP/SGI activities started. Implementation of the first expansion project in
the history of Kazakhstani oil industry was started in 2003 and successfully completed
in 2008.

[H3] Annual budget of the Egilik program is $12 million

[H3] Commissioning of Second Generation Plant
SGP/SGI complex was put into operation by President of the RoK Nursultan Nazarbayev on 5 June 2008. Second Generation Plant – the largest innovation project. Joint Venture Tengizchevroil has been a real corporate leader of oil and gas sector of the country. This project, that is worth $7 billion, is the largest in CIS. "Its capacity will allow Kazakhstan to produce 25 million tons of oil per year. In addition, using advanced technology equipment will considerably decrease hazardous air emission", Head of the State said.

[H3] Production of crude oil achieved 25 millions tons
Annual oil production increased up to 25 million tons after driving SGP/SGI to the
project capacity in 2009, i.e. almost doubled the plant capacity.

[H3] By this year budget of the Egilik program is $20 million
Over the period of implementation of the Egilik program over $150 million was allocated
for various infrastructure projects in the Atyrau oblast.

In 2011 TENGIZCHEVROIL was awarded with Republican Paryz Grand Prize on social
responsibility. The Awarding Ceremony was hosted in Astana, where President of
Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev. delivered the prize to TCO General Director Tim Miller.

[H3] TCO Produces 2 billion barrels of oil since 1993

[H3] Tengizchevroil LLP increases annual Egilik spending to $25 million
TCO wins few awards: "Company of the year in petroleum industry" – "Korgan" National
industrial contest; Laureate of Corporate Social Responsibility award at the 8th
KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum. "TCO Newsletter" is announced as the best regional corporate
newsletter by the ENERGY TRIBUNE-2013.

[H3] TCO celebrates 20th anniversary since its formation
Over the past 20 years TCO's contribution to social programs and projects in the Atyrau
oblast exceeded $800 million. Direct payments of the company to the Republic of
Kazakhstan were more than $77 billion.

[H3] Sulphur Inventory Elimination in Tengiz
In late October of this year, Tengizchevroil formally reported to the government that
the company offloaded the last shipment of bulk sulfur from the sulfur pads – two years
ahead of schedule.

[H3] FGP-WPMP Final Investment Decision was announced

In July 2016, TCO Partners announced the Final Investment Decision on FGP-WPMP. This was
a significant milestone for TCO and the Republic of Kazakhstan. These records and

Tengizchevroil (TCO) has donated specialized equipment worth more than 3.9 billion tenge to the municipal state enterprise Tabigat, operating under the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management of Atyrau Oblast. The project was implemented within the framework of social partnership and aims to develop environmental infrastructure in Atyrau Oblast, as well as to improve the effectiveness of environmental protection activities at the regional level.  As part of the project, Tabigat received 34 units of specialized equipment, including crawler excavators, a swamp excavator, a Watermaster amphibious dredging machine, a motor grader, a truck crane, and other machinery. The transferred equipment significantly strengthens the enterprise’s material and technical base and expands its capacity to carry out environmental, restoration, and technical works. The use of crawler excavators and backhoe loaders will enable the clearing and rehabilitation of disturbed areas, reinforcement of shorelines and riverbeds, as well as the efficient execution of excavation and loading operations within environmental protection initiatives. Due to their high off-road capability, the equipment can be effectively used on difficult terrain and in hard-to-access areas.   “Environmental protection is one of the company’s core values. By transferring this equipment, we are contributing to the practical, day-to-day work of protecting ecosystems, water resources, and natural areas of Atyrau Oblast. This cooperation reflects our commitment to strengthening partnerships aimed at the long-term conservation of the region’s natural environment” said Nurmukhamed Kartabayev, TCO General Manager of Policy, Government and Public Affairs.  The use of the swamp excavator and the Watermaster amphibious machine is of particular importance, as they are designed to operate in wetlands, shallow waters, and coastal zones. This equipment allows for the cleaning and deepening of water bodies, removal of silt and excessive aquatic vegetation with minimal impact on ecosystems, which is crucial for maintaining natural balance and preventing the degradation of water resources.  The deployment of a mobile pumping station expands capabilities in water flow management, flood response, and the implementation of restoration and emergency repair works. When combined with excavation equipment, it enables a more comprehensive and effective approach to addressing environmental and infrastructure challenges.  A front loader, motor grader, truck crane, crane manipulator, semi-truck tractor, and low-bed trailer will provide logistical and technical support, accelerate the transportation of equipment and materials, and enhance safety and coordination during operations.   “The new specialized equipment will allow us to significantly improve the efficiency and quality of our work, including in hard-to-access and environmentally sensitive areas. This expands our capabilities in environmental monitoring, restoration, and protection. The renewal of our equipment fleet will serve as a solid foundation for our activities for many years to come,” emphasized Aslanbek Ryszhanov, Head of Tabigat Municipal Enterprise.  TCO continues to contribute to the conservation of regional biodiversity. For example, since 2017, TCO has been supporting the Atyrau Sturgeon Hatchery to help increase the broodstock population in the Caspian Sea and release juvenile sturgeon into the Ural River. In addition, when active bird nests are identified at company facilities, protective measures are implemented until chicks successfully fledge. The Tengiz area lies along a global bird migration corridor, including rare and endangered species; therefore, TCO has installed bird protection devices on overhead power lines. These insulating devices protect birds from electric shock when they meet live wires and power line structures.

A craft training course for unemployed citizens, implemented within the framework of cooperation between the Department of Employment Coordination and Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO), has been completed in Atyrau Oblast. The project has become part of measures to promote employment and the development of highly demanded working professions in the region. The training was conducted from January to April 2026 in accredited training centers - APEC PetroTechnic, Apec Training Center, Edil-Oral.kz and Makat Oil and Gas Technological College. In 2026, 55 regional residents became participants of the program. During the course, the students mastered specialties in demand on the labor market, including lathe operator (turning), welding, non-destructive testing, also inspection and audit of explosion-proof equipment. The program covered theoretical training and practical exercises with a focus on developing applied skills and observing industrial discipline. As a result of the training, the participants gained new professional competencies that will allow them to increase their chances of finding employment and start working in a new profession. For many students, the course became an important step towards returning to the labor market and beginning a new professional stage. Currently, 14 students who completed the course have already found employment. As noted by Polymbet Khasanov, Head of Department of Employment and Social Programs Coordination of Atyrau region: "Our goal is to train every unemployed citizen in line with market demands and monitor their subsequent employment. This joint initiative with TCO is a shining example of an effective partnership between government and business. We will continue to take measures to ensure their employment". Special appreciations were expressed to the trainers and the centers for the high level of training, expertise, and involvement in the learning process. The training quality plays a key role in the formation of reliable and qualified personnel for the regional economy. Kuanyshkerey Mukhtarov, TCO Deputy General Director, noted: “For Tengizchevroil, such programs have strategic importance since development of human capital and employment support in the regions are part of the company’s long-term responsibility to Atyrau Oblast. The areas of study were chosen considering the real demand in the labor market, including technical and working specialties in demand in Atyrau Oblast”. The participants and organizers noted the importance of such initiatives for residents where employment opportunities are traditionally limited. It is planned that this initiative on the development of craft training programs will continue, considering the needs of the labor market and the interests of unemployed citizens. During the period from 2019 to 2024, TCO organized 12 stages basic vocational training, including 4 stages of special vocational training in Atyrau Oblast. In Mangystau Oblast, 12 programs of training were completed during the same period. To date, more than 3770 people were successfully trained.
