Orders with ground shipping typically ship within 1–2 business days. Air orders placed by 1:00 p.m. Central Time will ship the same day. While we do our best, items ordered together may ship separately depending on availability.

Requests to cancel an order, update a shipping address, or change items are time-sensitive and may not always be possible depending on the status of your order. We want you to love your Stormy Kromer purchase. If something isn’t quite right, we’ve made our return and exchange process easier and more streamlined through our online return portal.

Items returned for a refund or exchanged for a different size, color, or style must be:

In new, unworn condition
Returned with original tags attached
Submitted within 90 days of purchase

Please note that we can only process returns and exchanges for items purchased directly from Stormy Kromer. If your item was purchased from one of our authorized dealers, please contact the dealer directly regarding their return policy.

[H3] IS THERE A COST FOR RETURNS?

Customers who purchase Return & Exchange Protection (Checkout+) at checkout can return or exchange eligible items at no additional cost. Checkout+ coverage applies only to the items included in the original order in which it was purchased and cannot be transferred to future or separate orders.
If Return & Exchange Protection was not selected during checkout, the cost of the return shipping label will be deducted from your refund.

[H3] HOW DO I START A RETURN OR EXCHANGE?

You can also scan the QR code printed on the packing slip included with your order to access the portal directly.
For processing and tracking purposes, all returns and exchanges must be initiated through the online return portal or with assistance from our Customer Care team. Packages sent back without an approved return authorization may be refused and returned to sender.

[H3] WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT MY REQUEST?

Once your return or exchange request is submitted, the portal will automatically verify that the order falls within our return policy guidelines.
If approved, you’ll receive:

A prepaid return shipping label
Instructions for returning your item

If the order falls outside of our 90-day return window, the request will not be eligible for processing through the portal.

At checkout, customers have the option to purchase Return & Exchange Protection (Checkout+) for a small fee. This optional service includes:

Free returns and exchanges on eligible items

Customers who choose not to add Checkout+ at checkout may still return eligible items within the return window, but return shipping charges will apply.

[H3] WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY RETURN ARRIVES?

Once your return is received and inspected by our warehouse team, we’ll process your refund or exchange. Our normal processing time is 2-3 weeks, however, in busy season (winter holidays) the return/exchange process can take up to 4 weeks.
Please note that returned items must meet our return policy requirements. Items that show signs of wear, damage, alteration, or missing tags may not qualify for a refund or exchange and may be returned to sender.

[H3] WHERE ARE STORMY KROMER PRODUCTS MADE?

The vast majority of our products are proudly manufactured in the U.S. with the finest materials from all over the world. While the majority of our cut and sew operations are at our home facility in Ironwood, Michigan, we also partner with several contract manufacturers around the country – from the Midwest to New England to the Carolinas. For special instances where we are not able to find a domestic partner for a particular product, we look for factories that share our commitment to quality and to treating employees like family. [H3] HOW DOES THE EARBAND WORK?

You might not need instructions to wear your Stormy Kromer masterpiece, but there is a right way and a wrong way. The right way involves putting the cap on your head, grabbing the earband on both sides and pulling down. There’s no unfolding or flipping of the flaps, and you don’t have to take the hat off to use them. Just pull down and settle in. They’ll stay in place without pinching.

[H2] Care & Cleaning

[H3] HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY WOOL STORMY KROMER CAP?

We don’t mean to get all fancy on you, but wool is dry-clean only. You’re a person of discriminating taste (otherwise you wouldn’t have picked up a stylish Stormy Kromer cap), so when you buy wool, you know that means special care. If you wash your cap or wool garments – even by hand – they will shrink or become misshapen.

[H3] WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY WOOL STORMY KROMER CAP GETS WET?

Did you know that wool can absorb 30% of its weight in water? Our caps take on a lot of water before they feel damp. If it should happen to get soaked in the rain, just set it down out of direct sunlight and away from a heat source and it will dry out just fine.

[H3] WHAT ABOUT OTHER STORMY KROMER PRODUCTS?

Because many of our products contain wool, they are often dry clean only. Each product is different though, so be sure to check the care instructions for each and every product. Or contact our Customer Service team by email, phone 888-455-2253, or live chat.

Standard shipping is free for domestic orders over $75.
Domestic orders under $75 ship for $7.95.
We use both USPS and FedEx for our standard shipments, depending on location and size of order.
P.O. Boxes and military addresses can only ship via USPS.
Next-Day and 2nd-Day Air are available through FedEx for an additional charge. Delivery excludes weekends and holidays. Air orders placed by 1:00 pm central time Monday-Friday will ship same day.

[H3] WHY DO YOU SELL SIZED CAPS?

Our six-panel construction paired with our custom sizes gives you a fit like no other. No adjustable straps, snaps or buckles, just pure, head-protecting comfort.

[H3] HOW DO I FIGURE OUT MY CAP SIZE?

To get your size, measure around your head in the spot where a cap would rest with a soft tape measure. Take that number in inches and divide by 3.14 (pi). Round up to the nearest eighth to get your size. See the chart below for size conversions. For even more help, check out this video.

Stormy Kromer caps are designed to be snug. This was, after all, one of George and Ida's initial design goals - to design a cap that stays put when the winter wind blows. Your cap stays put and the pulldown earband does its best work with a snugger fit. If that's an issue for you, you may want to consider going up a size.

[H3] DOES MY CAP HAVE A GUARANTEE?

The Stormy Kromer Lifetime Guarantee program started in 2010, when we began sewing a unique serial number into each cap. If you purchased a Stormy Kromer cap with a serial number and it wears out due to poor workmanship, faulty material, or production defects, we'll replace it free of charge. [H3] WHAT IS THE STORMY KROMER INSURANCE POLICY?

Your new cap comes with more than a comfortable fit and rugged good looks, it also features a little protection for your peace of mind. Register your Stormy Kromer cap with its unique serial number found on the white label inside your cap. If it is lost, stolen or destroyed within three years of the date of purchase, we will replace it at 50% of the current catalog price, plus applicable shipping and taxes. No questions asked. (Limited edition caps are, well, limited, so there aren't necessarily any available for replacement. We're awfully sorry about that. When redeeming your policy on limited edition caps, you may choose a cap of similar value.) To put this free insurance policy into effect, register online or mail in the form attached to your cap's hangtag. To use your insurance policy, call our Customer Service team at 888-455-2253. This policy is limited to a one-time replacement.
