“I BELIEVE THAT WE ONLY PROTECT WHAT WE LOVE, AND WE ONLY LOVE WHAT WE UNDERSTAND. AND AS LONG AS I CAN HOLD A CAMERA, I WILL USE IT TO SPEAK FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.”

My name is Juan Camilo Mora, and I’m from Colombia, a country where nature is not something distant, but something you grow up feeling all around you. I Studied biology, driven by a deep curiosity for the natural world. After university, I began teaching at a high school, sharing that passion with others. A couple of years later, that path opened the door to travel. I worked in Kazakhstan, and later, while backpacking, I found myself in Southeast Asia, where my life took a different direction. But my love for the ocean had started long before that. When I was 13 years old, I did my first scuba dive. I remember the feeling so clearly, the silence, the weightlessness, the sense of entering another world. I was instantly amazed. I even remember saying, “One day I’ll have long white hair, and I’ll live on a tropical island working as a dive instructor.” It didn’t take that long for that to become true… except for the white hair part I ended up living in Thailand, working as a dive instructor for two years. Later, I moved to Baja, Mexico, where I spent five years leading expeditions, exploring the ocean, and deepening my connection with the natural world. Somewhere along that journey, my camera became more than just a tool, it became a voice. A way to tell stories. To connect people with ecosystems and species they may never encounter firsthand. To show not only beauty, but meaning. Fragility. Importance. As a biologist, I understand the science behind what I see. As a storyteller, I feel the responsibility to translate it. Today, I’m back in Colombia, where together with my partner, I co-founded Makau Expeditions. Our mission is simple: to connect souls with nature, creating conscious and responsible travellers through meaningful experiences in the wild. I believe that we only protect what we love, and we only love what we understand. And as long as I can hold a camera, I will use it to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

This is a high-substance technical site that prioritizes engineering specifications over marketing hot air. The low BS score is earned through granular technical honesty, though it is slightly marred by stale legal documentation and unverified trust signals.

Update the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions to reflect post-2018 data regulations to close the 8-year credibility gap. Explicitly list the specific ‘Awards’ mentioned in the schema within the body text of the About or Homepage sections. Link the ‘review_count’ to a verified third-party platform like Trustpilot or a diving-specific review aggregator to validate internal claims.

The site is a major mismatch for the provided Fitness, Gyms & Sports Clubs category; it is a specialized manufacturer of technical diving equipment. While it shares the ‘Sports’ umbrella, it avoids all fitness-specific cliches like ‘progressive overload’ or ‘metabolic conditioning’ in favor of marine engineering terminology.

“The score is primarily driven by Trust and Proof (8/20) due to unverified reviews and stale legal dates. Information Density (5/30) is remarkably strong, significantly lowering the overall BS score through the use of specific technical nomenclature.”
