[H1] Let’s get digginginto our history Over the years, our range has grown to include a vast variety of scoffable snacks, but we still call the Herefordshire countryside our home. (It’s where all the good fields and pubs are.) [IMG: Tyrrells Court Farm] [H2] We’re Tyrrells ofTyrrells Court Farm Herefordshire A day on the farmwith Henrietta It’s an early wakeup call on TyrrellsFarm each day [H2] The History We started making Crisps at Tyrrells Court Farm back in 2002, and we’re still here today! Scroll down to take a look at our timeline. [H2] British Potatoes We use British potatoes from carefully selected farmers. [IMG: Tyrrells Court Farm] [H2] 2002 In a small converted potato shed at Tyrrells Court Farm, the first hand-cooked Tyrrells crisps tumbled out of a fryer and were sent to our favourite local farm shops and delis to try. [H2] 2003 With five potato crisp seasonings in the bag, the team turned their hand to making parsnip, beetroot and carrot crisps creating a celebration of roots at their most resplendent. [H2] 2004 Our crisps seem to be appealing overseas, a craving we felt obliged to cater for so we popped some on a voyage to France & Ireland. [H2] 2006 Strawberry & Sweet Chilli “Love crisps” were brought to life and we hand wrote 2000 valentine cards for our beloved Tyrrellers. [H2] 2008 The Duchess of Cornwall was airdropped by a chopper in our garden specially to taste test our scrumptious crisps. She was quite impressed if we do say so ourselves! [H2] 2010 Out popped our perfectly popped kernels, producing our famous Poshcorn. [IMG: Furrows Sea Salt & Vinegar] [H2] 2011 With the gentleman’s palette in mind, we seeked the land for a sturdy hummus shovel. Our Furrows, crinkly cut crisps were born. [H2] 2012 [H3] Happy birthday to us! 10 years, 120 months, 3652 days, 87660 hours, 5259600 minutes, 315576000 seconds creating our splendid crisps. [H2] 2012 In true Downton Abbey style, we met Her Majesty The Queen and told her all about the farm. She commented that “it’s all about the flavours these days I suppose!”. We couldn’t agree more Ma’am! To celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, we inaugurated our British red, white & blue crisps. All with natural colourings, that’s right, blue spuds! [H2] 2014 In a true sporting manner, we created our Cricket Tea Crisps limited edition for the summer. [H2] 2016 Beep Beep! We offered our Tyrrellers the chance to win a mini with every pack they crunched. [H2] 2017 The finest ingredients are always at the centre of what we do, with that in mind we used the most sumptuous of culinary delicacies, the black truffle to create a crisp ideal for ritzy get togethers. [IMG: Black Truffle & Sea Salt] [IMG: Tyrrells Strawberry Black PepperScoop] [H2] 2018 Jolly Good Scoop! [H1] Sustainability [H1] 2024 [H2] Introducing Recycled Plastic Into Our Packs As part of our ongoing commitment to help protect our planet and reduce the use of virgin materials, we’ve introduced 25% recycled plastic within our packaging, this is based on the ISCC mass balance approach. For now, due to availability, this recycled material features across our most popular Tyrrellbly Tyrrellbly Tasty 150g sharing packs; Tyrrells Lightly Sea Salted, Tyrrells Mature Cheddar & Chive, Tyrrells Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar, and Tyrrells Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper. [H1] 2022 [H2] Cutting back on packaging Although crisp packets keep our Tyrrells crisps fresh and tasty, the nature of the plastic film means you can’t yet put them in your normal domestic recycling. This is because the infrastructure to recycle this material is not currently available at scale in the UK. Therefore, to help combat this, we are taking action to cut back on our plastic packaging usage. Our packs might feel a bit thinner than they used to but don’t worry chaps and chapesses, our crisps are just the same and still Tyrrellbly Tyrrellbly Tasty! * 25% less packaging by weight versus 2021 across the Tyrrells Potato & Veg Crisps range [H2] Recycling your crisp packets [IMG: Recycle with bags at large supermarket (don] [H2] Potatoes Only the finest spuds are good enough for Tyrrells. That’s why we have established relationships with our carefully selected spud growers. Our close ties mean we source the finest quality British potatoes. [H2] We cover our crop We have an initiative which promotes positive practices such as the use of cover crops to promote soil health within our supply chain. This activity means we are always keeping a living root in the soil. By growing selected cover crops in the window between food crops such as cereals and potatoes on the land we create soil cover over the winter period when the soil would traditionally be left bare. This practice is a key component of regenerative agriculture and offers a nature-based solution to climate mitigation. [H3] Terrific benefits include: improved water infiltration, reducing flood risk recycling & retention of major nutrients such as Nitrogen, Phosphorus, & Potassium reduced risk of soil erosion and nutrient leaching into water courses broken disease cycles healthier soil & encouragement of microbes that feed and protect other crops enhanced biodiversity, providing a habitat for pollinators and other species

Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 2707 businesses audited.
Tyrrells has 21.4 points less BS than the average for Food, Restaurants & Delivery.
Food, Restaurants & Delivery BS: Tyrrells (tyrrellscrisps.co.uk)
Tyrrells utilizes a highly effective ‘British Eccentric’ brand mask to distract from the commodity nature of snack manufacturing. While the sustainability technicalities provide legitimate substance, the stale historical timeline and refusal to name a single ‘local farmer’ creates a significant gap between the farm-to-table Signal and the corporate-scale Substance. It is a low-BS site that is currently coasting on brand equity and technical terminology rather than real-time proof.
1. Name at least three specific British farms in the ‘Meet the characters’ section to validate ‘locally sourced’ claims. 2. Update the ‘History’ timeline to include a 2024-2026 entry to resolve the 5-year stale evidence gap. 3. Fix the character spacing errors in H1 and H2 headings (‘TyrrellblyTyrrellbly’, ‘deeperand’). 4. Populate the ‘Range’ page with specific product weights, nutritional highlights, and availability data to move it beyond a placeholder state.
The site strongly aligns with the Food & Snacks category, focusing on production origin and ingredient quality. The content consistently references agricultural sourcing and manufacturing processes relevant to the industry.
