31st Annual Rodeo Drive Concours d' Elegance on Sunday, June 21

In partnership with the City of Beverly Hills and the Rodeo Drive Committee, the 31st annual Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance will return to Beverly Hills on Sunday, June 21. Celebrating luxury and automotive culture, this year’s event will pay tribute to America’s 250th anniversary during the Rodeo Drive Committee’s 50th year. The free Father’s Day event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on world-famous Rodeo Drive. “The Concours d’Elegance is an annual tradition our community looks forward to every year,” said Beverly Hills Mayor Craig A. City of Beverly Hills and Beverly Hills Unified School District Finalize New Three-Year JPA

The City of Beverly Hills (City) has approved a new Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) pending ratification by the Board of Education on May 26. The City and BHUSD have used the structure of joint power agreements dating back to 1977 for the purpose of outlining shared use of facilities, recreational programming, and technology support.Under the new agreement, BHUSD will assume responsibility for several programs previously administered by the City, effective August 1, 2026, including all afternoon programming at BHUSD elementary schools and all City-run camps at District facilities. In addition, responsibility for the State-Licensed Preschool Program, currently administered by the City, will transition to BHUSD in Fall 2026.The JPA includes nearly $39 million in City financial contributions to BHUSD over the three-year term of the agreement, including $13,750,000 for fiscal year 2026–27, $13,000,000 for fiscal year 2027–28, and $12,250,000 for fiscal year 2028–29.“For almost a half-century, the City has supported BHUSD through the Joint Powers Agreement, and this new three-year arrangement reaffirms our commitment to the success of the District and its students,” said Beverly Hills Mayor Craig Corman.The JPA includes a Memorandum of Understanding related to digital monitoring and broadcasting technology outlining the District’s responsibility regarding Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR), Unarmed Aircraft Systems Operations (Drone), and other security equipment. The agreement also memorializes the Beverly Hills Police Department’s continuous support to BHUSD through School Resource Officers and other technical support.“Families move to Beverly Hills because they believe in the strength of our schools, the quality of our programs, and the investment this community makes in its children. This agreement reflects a shared vision between the City of Beverly Hills and Beverly Hills Unified School District to continue building on that legacy together,” said BHUSD Board of Education President Judith Manouchehri. “We are incredibly grateful for the confidence the City has placed in our District by asking us to take on these important programs and services. This partnership creates new opportunities to better serve our students, families, and community while strengthening the collaboration that has defined Beverly Hills for generations.”

Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook Retiring from the Department

Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook announced today that he will retire from the department, effective June 26, 2026.Stainbrook joined BHPD in November 2021 from the Port of San Diego where he served as Chief since 2018.  Stainbrook is a 30-year law enforcement veteran, graduate of the FBI National Academy and a retired lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. In 2025, he was awarded the Joe Malloy Award by the California Police Chiefs Association, which is their highest annual award given to the top police chief in the state.“On behalf of the City Council and Beverly Hills community, I’d like to thank Chief Stainbrook for his leadership in moving the department forward,” said City Manager Nancy Hunt-Coffey.  “During the Chief’s tenure, the department became a national model for use of advanced police technologies and has successfully reduced crime in several key categories. We recognize Chief Stainbrook for his three decades of dedicated public service.”Chief Stainbrook helped to transform the BHPD into a global leader in law enforcement technology and tactics. Over 500 local, state, federal, and international agencies have visited the department’s revolutionary Real Time Watch Center (RTWC).  The RTWC is comprised of 3500 cameras, 120 automated license plate readers, and multiple drones.  Since the inception of the RTWC, crime in Beverly Hills has dropped 34% and arrests have increased 22%. Chief Stainbrook’s tenure has focused on leveraging technology and proactive policing while maintaining strong community support in a high-profile city.“The opportunity to lead the Beverly Hills Police Department has been the highlight of my professional career,” said Chief Stainbrook.  “I am grateful to the men and women of the department and members of the community as we all worked together to ensure Beverly Hills remains one of the safest cities in the nation.” Hunt-Coffey is expected to name an Interim Police Chief in the coming weeks.
