Acoustic Energy was founded in London, England in 1987 with the creation of the now-legendary AE1 loudspeaker. The AE1 redefined what was possible from a compact enclosure by setting new audio performance standards for dynamics, power and clarity previously unheard of outside larger, high-end speakers. These design principles have remained enshrined in the company ethos to this day… All Acoustic Energy loudspeakers are subject to our rigorous design-process and carry the same DNA that’s run through each product range for over 35 years. At prototype stage new designs are voiced through an exhaustive listening process, with electroacoustic measurement used to verify each step. They’re then benchmarked against our historical references mirroring the dynamics, transparency, tonal accuracy and above all musical involvement, necessary to warrant the Acoustic Energy marque.

The new 100 Series introduces a plethora of evolutionary improvements focused on refining the listening experience. All models feature our WDT (Wide Dispersion Tweeter) waveguide for improved dispersion, now taking cues from our 500 Series with mid/bass drivers moved closer to the tweeter. The drive units are all-new and designed in tandem to offer seamless integration along with improved response and power handling. Slot ports to the rear of each cabinet reduce chuffing & distortion, thanks to a new tooled vent to further smooth airflow. Finally, as a first at this price point, the 100 Series uses HDF (High Density Fibreboard) construction to allow thinner cabinet walls with no loss in mass or stiffness – the result is larger internal volume providing deeper bass response for minimal external size increase.

The AE100² is a compact stand-mount/bookshelf loudspeaker exhibiting qualities perfectly embodying those of Acoustic Energy.
The AE100² has been designed with a view to achieving high sound pressure levels from a small enclosure. This is obtained principally through the use of a 130mm mid-bass drive unit built around an ultra-high force, long throw motor system. Bass performance is augmented by a slot shaped duct allowing for a considerable cross-sectional area while negating the issues of air turbulence.
A 25mm soft dome tweeter featuring our Wide Dispersion Technology completes the driver compliment and is housed within a 15mm HDF cabinet. Taking design cues from the award-winning 500 Series and finished in a choice of black, satin white or walnut vinyl veneer finishes. The AE100² is sure to look good placed on speaker stands or bookshelves, while delivering a sound that belies its compact size.

The AE109² is designed to offer effortless, room filling performance from a slim-line floor-standing loudspeaker in much the same way the world acclaimed original AE109 did 20 years ago. To do this, two 130mm paper drivers utilising an ultra-high force motor system are used in partnership with a 25mm soft dome tweeter. The 2.5-way crossover features a unique topology allowing integration and power handling previously un-achievable from this type of speaker. Particular attention has been paid to the phase and time alignment for the most cohesive performance possible. Like the AE100² stand-mount speaker, the driver and crossover are housed within a substantial 15mm HDF cabinet that takes styling cues from the award winning 500 Series. The result is an audio product with clean and uncluttered lines that can still deliver the thrilling and powerful presentation Acoustic Energy owners have come to expect. As the flagship of the range, the AE120² is the largest model in the 100 series and a true 3-way design. This speaker offers a big sound from a slim-line enclosure, tastefully styled to blend into a wide range of domestic environments. Twin bass drive units underpin the room filling performance with a dedicated mid-range driver housed in its own enclosure, carefully designed to mitigate the harmful effects of rear wave reflections. Integrated within the perfectly matched Wide Dispersion Technology (WDT) waveguide, Acoustic Energy’s 25mm soft dome tweeter manages the high frequencies with controlled dispersion, high sensitivity and low distortion.The 3-way crossover is impedance compensated to avoid the resonance issues which would otherwise slow bass delivery and colour mid-range performance. Particular attention has also been paid to the phase and time alignment for optimum integration and soundstage. The result is a loudspeaker offering smooth, wide dispersion high frequencies with a clean mid-range and lightning fast bass response. The inert cabinet enclosure is constructed from 15mm HDF and like it’s smaller AE109² brother, supplied mass loaded to help dampen cabinet vibrations. [H3] TWEETER
Acoustic Energy’s bespoke 25mm soft dome tweeter was designed in tandem with the 100 Series bass driver to offer optimum integration and tonal matching. Paired with our Wide Dispersion Technology waveguide, the crossover region between drive units is audibly seamless whilst the high-power neodymium motor assembly ensures reliable, distortion-free high-volume playback.

[H3] DRIVERS
The 130mm bass/mid driver used in the 100 Series has been developed with a high power, long excursion motor to provide satisfying volume levels and bass extension from relatively compact enclosures. The doped paper cone enables a higher crossover point for smoother mid-range and seamless crossover with the tweeter, creating extremely high fidelity, detailed and above all musical sound reproduction.

[H3] CABINET
The 100 Series uses thin, 15mm high density (HDF) enclosures with carefully tuned bracing, reducing harmful resonances whilst retaining body and substance from compact, practical cabinets. The rear slot porting* enhances smooth bass extension with minimal room impact, allowing easy placement. The AE109² and AE120² feature inert mass-loading for additional stability and acoustic damping, all models come supplied with slim magnetic grilles.
*The AE108² is a sealed box with no slot port.

This advanced construction significantly reduces cabinet radiation, allowing the drive units to perform at their best without enclosure interference, ensuring pure, uncoloured and natural sound.The 300 series doesn’t just sound good; it looks good too. Our design team have created an aesthetic that blends into modern interiors with subtlety and elegance, including bespoke trims and grilles for each finish creating a more harmonious design language. The cabinets have been slimmed down as much as possible while not adding depth, and in the case of the AE307² transformed to an ultra-shallow sealed enclosure with passive radiator, adding wall-mounting versatility.In line with latest furniture trends, we’ve moved away from high gloss finishes of the previous 300 Series and chose a newly developed, modern and highly durable ‘silk-touch’ matte material with colour-coordinated trims, solid aluminium feet (on floor standing models) and matching premium grille fabrics. The AE307² utilises a brand-new paper/coconut-fibre bass-mid driver which was developed using research derived from the CORINIUM project. The 300 Series features a new soft dome tweeter developed from the Corinium project. This tweeter offers exceptional speed, clarity, and low distortion, perfectly matched with our new mid-woofer. Behind the dome this tweeter uses a neodymium ring magnet to allow space for a large vent in the copper shielded pole which leads to specifically graded sound absorption material terminating the waste energy in a contoured rear chamber. [H3] DRIVERS
Discover the newly-developed paper/coconut husk bass-mid drivers in our 300 series, designed for a smooth, natural response. The all-new mid-woofer delivers a warm, natural sound with crystal clarity and dynamic detail. Reinforced with coconut fibers, the cone offers impressive stiffness and reduced breakup modes. The motor structure includes an extended copper pole shield to lower midrange distortion, while a non-conducting voice coil former guarantees impressive bass and dynamic range. Used consistently across the range, this mid-woofer is reinforced in the floor-standing AE320 speaker by two 140mm bass drivers, crafted to the same high standards.

[H3] CABINET & DESIGN
The new 300 Series benefits from the same advanced RSC™ cabinets found on our flagship Corinium and range topping 500 Series speakers. This composite material significantly reduces cabinet radiation compared to traditional MDF or Plywood construction, allowing the drive units to perform without interference. This technology is concealed within a design that blends seamlessly into modern interiors with subtlety and elegance. Slimmed-down cabinets and a shift from high gloss to a modern, ‘silk-touch’ matte material with color-coded trims, grilles, and aluminium feet on the floor-standing models.

[H3] CROSSOVER
Drawing from the techniques developed during the Corinium project, we’ve significantly reduced distortions in loudspeaker crossover design. By adopting a holistic approach to the woofer, tweeter, and cabinet, we created a crossover filter that offers a lighter touch, minimizing phase distortion and preserving the speakers’ musicality.

Our flagship 500 Series, comprises three models, the AE500 stand-mount, the AE509 and AE520 floor-standers and boast our newly developed carbon fibre tweeters and mid/bass drivers, designed to match the pistonic power and accuracy of our legendary ceramic aluminium drivers but with improved self-damping for a smoother, more transparent sound.Our new 500 Series tweeter features a brand new 25mm carbon fibre dome. Carbon fibre is much lighter and better damped than other typical hard dome materials and provides a lightning fast, natural sound which will surprise the listener with its neutrality. The new cast aluminium WDT waveguide on the high frequency driver is positioned close to the mid/bass driver for optimum dispersion and is extremely stiff to reduce vibration being passed to the tweeter, ensuring sweet, clear and natural highs.The 125mm mid/bass drivers include new oversized 35mm voice coils for low thermal compression and very high motor force factor to provide a highly dynamic yet controlled bass response. The woofer has an optimised motor and suspension system for maximum linearity and lowest distortion ensuring mid-range definition, whilst the lightweight nature of the carbon fibre cone material increases transient speed and clarity.The AE509 is a Mid Tweeter Mid/bass (MTM) driver layout with a 2 way crossover using high voltage polypropylene film wound capacitors and air core inductors at critical locations for optimum dispersion through a smaller acoustic source size within the crossover region.The AE520 features two dedicated 125mm mid-range drivers, three low frequency drivers and a 25mm tweeter. The two dedicated 125mm carbon fibre mid-drivers include new oversized 35mm voice coils for low thermal compression and optimum motor force factor. Both are mounted within their own dedicated sealed enclosure whilst the three dedicated low frequency drivers are reflex loaded by a large rear facing rectangular port.These unique drivers are housed in our new Resonance Suppression Composite (RSC) cabinets evolved from the prestigious Reference Series and featuring the same constrained layer composite to greatly reduce cabinet acoustic radiation, which would otherwise colour the sound. The cabinets are finished in high gloss Piano Black, Piano White or American Walnut wood veneer finishes.
