Our sustainability program
Resource shortages, climate change and social justice are the big social and ecological challenges of our times, which LEONI is also confronting. As a global company with about 86,000 employees, as a manufacturer of wiring systems and as a major supplier in the automotive sector, we have a special responsibility and want to actively participate in shaping sustainability. With our ReWire sustainability programme we are thereby making sustainability a holistic and integral part of our corporate strategy.

Our contribution to sustainable development
Good health and well-beingThe health of its employees is very important to LEONI. We achieved our goal of reducing the global accident rate, i.e. the number of accidents at work per 100 employees, to 0.3 already in 2023 and in 2024 it was at 0.14. We have set ourselves the goal of introducing a certified occupational health and safety management system (ISO 45001) at 100% of our production sites at WSD by 2025. We were able to achieve this target ahead of schedule in 2024 for all production sites that have been in operation for more than two years. We also want to further expand our local health and safety projects by 2025. Various projects such as breast cancer screening, blood tests, flu vaccinations and preventive medical check-ups were carried out at our plants.Gender equalityLEONI already has a gender balance in its overall workforce. However, we are also committed to further increasing the proportion of women in senior management and on our Executive Board. We aim by 2030 to have 20% of our senior management positions (Levels 1-3) occupied by women. By 2040, the proportion of women in leadership positions is to be at least 40%. To this end, we are supporting women by offering various schemes for achieving permanent career advancement and intend to target women in our recruiting processes.Affordable and clean energyAs part of its climate strategy, LEONI has set itself binding targets for the use of renewable energy as well as raising its own energy efficiency. By 2025, we will already be drawing 80% of our energy from renewable sources; by 2030 almost 100%.Decent work and business growthOur LEONI Code of Conduct for Business Partners, we unequivocally define protection against human rights abuses for LEONI but also for our upstream value chain. In 2024, we systematically assessed both our own company and our business partners for potential human rights risks and derived appropriate measures.Sustainable cities and communitiesPromoting sustainable mobility contributes to making cities safe, resilient and sustainable. In keeping with our vision of ‘Best in Class Wiring Systems’, we also intend to be a provider of innovative solutions with respect to sustainability challenges. We are advancing decarbonised mobility by offering such new product solutions for alternative drive technologies as e-mobility. We are already executing individual energy efficiency projects at some facilities, for example by installing innovative solar energy panels.Responsible consumption and productionWe are presently working on measures to step up our use of secondary raw materials and on replacing ecologically critical materials with more sustainable resources as ways of contributing to more sustainable production. Furthermore, we intend to ensure that both social and ecological standards are observed in our procurement of raw materials. To this end, we have set ourselves goals for raising the transparency of both our purchased materials and the social as well as ecological impact of our suppliers.Climate actionWe are committed to the Paris Climate Agreement with the aim of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. By 2050, we will have lowered the emissions along our entire value chain (Scope 1-3) by 90%. And from 2040 at the latest, we will have neutralised all unavoidable emissions at our own facilities (Scope 1 and 2), thereby being climate-neutral in our own production. In 2024, we also committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), thereby laying the foundation for a binding, science-based climate strategy.Partnerships for the goalsThe ecological and social challenges in our value chain can only be overcome jointly. We therefore attach great importance to collaboration and regular exchange of ideas with our suppliers and customers, but also with such other stakeholder groups as NGOs and sector associations.

[H2]
On the way to a more sustainable future
How can we be even easier on resources in making our products? How can they be used in a more resource-saving way? It is our stated goal to reduce the adverse environmental impact of both our production facilities themselves and our products. We therefore consider many aspects of sustainability as early as the development phase of our products. Our sustainable development spans all value-chain stages and business areas. Good working conditions are the key success factor for LEONI. The safety and health of our employees is promoted with the help of ongoing measures. We are thereby able to jointly offer innovative solutions and systems for resource-efficient and climate-friendly mobility.

On the way to a more sustainable future
Sustainability has become one of the most visible topics in the automotive industry. This is due to a variety of factors: the complexity of vehicles and their supply chains, the diversity of resources needed as well as regulatory and social requirements. In addition, mobility is one of the central needs in every society. In view of all these aspects, it is clear what a major influence the automotive industry has on the world – entailing the accountability for sensible and conscious resource usage. We consider this responsibility from the very beginning of the product design: LEONI only defines an innovation as such, if it brings with it a sustainability advantage. This benefit must be recognizable in at least one of the two dimensions – social and ecological – without jeopardizing the other. This means, for instance, that bio-based materials need to be made out of resources that grow areas which are not suitable for foodstuff production.

New paths through the circular economy
As our customers evolve from car manufacturers to mobility providers, we are transforming our products and our portfolio together with them. For us, the circular economy is an important driver of technological innovation. Circular business models require new approaches in engineering, product development, quality management, sales and customer service. Our starting point is the pre-development – this is where we investigate new design rules and introduce new solutions for dismantling wire harnesses. We are striving to keep materials in the automotive cycle for longer without downcycling and are working with customers on such use cases. While an average of 40% of copper and 76% of aluminum is already recycled worldwide, plastics, for example in insulations and harness-attached parts, pose greater circularity challenges. This is because mechanically recycled plastics can lose some properties, so their use in the same application is limited to a certain number of cycles. This is why we are actively engaging with established and new partners in our supply chain for selecting the optimal material considering all customer requirements. Wherever technically possible and economically viable, we replace primary materials with secondary ones. We hereby take into account technical specifications and further customer needs regarding the quality, stability and availability of recycled materials.

CO2 footprint as a decision criterion in the design process
Through our activities, we are helping to shape the transformation towards a climate-aware economy. On the one hand, we are tackling supply chain transparency with our partners. On the other hand, we are introducing the carbon footprint as a decision-making criterion in our product development processes. This influences design decisions, for example with regard to the types of polymers. In addition, we are driving the wider introduction of aluminum in the wire harnesses, which brings a weight advantage of around 40%. With regard to busbars and electromechanical parts such as fuse and relay boxes, we provide concepts for better dismantlability. Further, we deliver on our green design rules, inspire current suppliers and involve remarkable new ones, while technologically focusing on the shift to zonal architectures. In doing so, our aim is to be the first choice of customers looking for a wiring harness with a low carbon footprint.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?

💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Industrial, Manufacturing & Engineering BS: LEONI Group (leoni.com)

28 BS / 100

LEONI Group is a rare example of a corporate entity that uses its website as a ledger of technical and financial activity rather than a marketing brochure. With a BS score of 28, it provides significant substance, only occasionally falling back on ’empowering’ slogans.

Integrate Organization and Person schema into the technical architecture to link board members to their professional identities. Replace the generic ‘Welcome to LEONI’ H1 with a substance-led heading that quantifies the group’s market share or specialized technical niche. Audit the ‘Stories’ section to ensure older press releases from 2022 are clearly archived to avoid a stale content profile as the temporal anchor moves toward 2026. Remove the unlinked review_count of 6 to eliminate trust theatre flags.

LEONI Group perfectly aligns with the Industrial, Manufacturing & Engineering category, specifically as a tier-1 automotive supplier. The content consistently references advanced materials, supply chain integration, and Industry 4.0 concepts like ‘digitalization’ and ‘factory of the future’.

“The score is primarily driven by strong performance in Information Density (10/30) and Semantic Coherence (2/20), indicating a site rooted in factual data and consistent messaging. Minor points were lost due to the absence of structured data (Identity & Authority) and the use of industry-standard value prop cliches (Commodity Fingerprint).”
