Our four-legged friends are a part of our families and we want to ensure they’re getting the best possible nutrition to thrive and live a long and healthy life. Learn more [IMG: dog with bowl food of dry dog food] We put expertise and a lot of love into creating delicious dog food that will keep your dog's tail wagging long after they've had the last bite. Our dogs are amazing companions, but when it comes to their nutritional needs, not all dogs are the same. This is why we’ve created a wide range of nutritional dog food, so that no matter the size, age or special requirements, your pet can enjoy dog food created to meet their specific needs. From dry to wet dog food, from tasty treats to special care diets and much more, there are plenty of canine meals to choose from the Purina brands you know and love. Browse our dog food ranges today! [H2] Is commercial dog food good for dogs? Yes, commercial dog food is specifically designed to offer pets the nutrients they need for a happy and healthy life. Our experts choose high-quality ingredients to create recipes that provide optimal nourishment for dogs, while meeting industry standards. You can find out more about our nutritional philosophy for dog food here. Ensure you’re providing your dog with the best chance to thrive by choosing dog food that’s suited to their needs, whether that is puppy food, dog food for senior pets or formulas designed for particular conditions and diets. [H2] Should dog food be soaked in water? Soaking your dog’s dry food in water can be beneficial in certain instances. It’s a good way to ensure your dog is getting their water intake, but it could also help dogs with health issues or senior dogs. Another possible benefit is that this might ease digestion for some of our furry friends. However, remember that dry dog food might be better for their teeth health. Find out more with our guide comparing wet and dry dog food. [H2] Should dog food be warm or cold? Dog food should be served at room temperature. If you store your pet's food in the fridge, take it out well ahead of mealtime to allow it to get to room temperature. This will make the food’s smell very enticing to your pooch and the taste will be better so they’ll be glad to eat it all up. [H2] Should dog food be refrigerated? Open packets or cans of dog food can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days as this ensures it stays fresh. Unopened cans and packets of dog food, however, can be kept at room temperature as the seals ensure that the food stays fresh. [H2] Which Purina dog food is the best? The best Purina dog food really depends on your dog’s needs! Some dogs with sensitive stomachs might need grain-free dog food, and puppy food is different to senior dog food. Because of these different needs, we have a vast range of dog food for you to choose from. Explore all the recipes and flavours and find the perfect match for your friend. [H2] How much food should I feed my dog? Most adult dogs receive two meals a day, although this can vary depending on the dog and their individual routine and preferences. Smaller dogs (dogs weighing under 10kg) tend to have a faster metabolism than their larger canine counterparts, making them more susceptible to symptoms such as low blood sugar levels. For this reason, it can be beneficial to spread their nutritional intake across three meals rather than two, to decrease those sugar spikes which may be too much for their smaller bodies.Lastly, but by no means least, when feeding our canine gentle giants, a daily dining experience of three meals a day can also offer benefits for their larger digestive systems. These beloved larger breeds are sometimes prone to bloating after mealtimes which can be uncomfortable. By serving up smaller, more frequent portions of our nutrient-rich food, not only can we help safeguard them against such digestive upsets, but we also ensure they receive the full measure of daily calories required to thrive and maintain their weight. With every bite thoughtfully tailored for their well-being, your canine companion will continue to thrive.Want to learn more about the ingredients that go into your dog's food, alongside the foods to avoid? If you are worried by online comments about Felix, get the facts on these misleading claims and the actions we take to support cat owners. [H2] Is cat food cooked? Yes, wet cat food is cooked! To make the delicious taste that your cats love, the carefully selected ingredients are blended with cooked meat and then mixed in with jelly or gravy. Of course, this could also be blended into a delicious cat food pâté. [H2] Is cat food halal? Purina cat food is not certified as Halal. This categorisation is applied mainly to human foods. [H2] Should cat food and water be together? It’s a good idea to keep water and food separately. Your cat might not like the smell of their food whilst they’re drinking water and they also won’t like anything in their water (like bits of wet food or dust). [H2] Should cat food be refrigerated? Open packets or cans of cat food can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days as this helps keep them fresh. Unopened cans and packets of cat food, however, can be kept at room temperature as the seals ensure that the food stays fresh. [H2] Can cat food go off? Yes, cat food can go off. It’s important to check the expiry date that is printed on the packets of dry and wet cat food. Once a packet is opened, store the wet cat food in the fridge for up to 2 days. [H2] Can kittens eat adult cat food? At Purina, we recommend feeding kittens food specifically formulated for their growth and development needs. Adult cat food lacks the essential nutrients that kittens require to thrive. [H2] How much food should I feed my cat? The amount of food your cat needs depends on their age, weight, and activity level. Always refer to the feeding guidelines on the packaging and consult your veterinarian for personalised advice. [H2] How many times a day should I feed my cat? Most adult cats do well with two meals per day. Kittens may require more frequent feeding. Consult your veterinarian to determine the best feeding schedule for your cat’s specific needs. For more advice on choosing the best cat food, the best nutrients for your cat, the different cat life stages the benefits of wet versus dry formulas, take a look at our feeding your cat guide on how to choose the best cat food for your pet. Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Purina UK has 10.2 points less BS than the average for Pets, Veterinary & Animal Services.
Pets, Veterinary & Animal Services BS: Purina UK (purina.co.uk)
Purina UK delivers a professional, high-substance experience that leverages its manufacturing scale to provide concrete proof points. The primary bullshit factor is ‘Expert Anonymity,’ where the authority of anonymous vets is used to shield the brand from the lack of individual accountability. Overall, it is a benchmark for substance in the pet food commodity space.
Identify and name the ‘in-house team of vets and behaviourists’ with direct links to their RCVS registrations to close the authority gap. Replace the fluff-heavy H1 ‘Nourishing Pets. Enriching Lives’ with a more descriptive, metric-driven headline about their 85-year heritage or testing standards. Provide a direct outbound link to the methodology of the ‘Product of the Year’ award to increase third-party verification. Add a clinical governance section detailing the external bodies that audit the 1,400 daily production checks.
The site aligns perfectly with the Pets and Animal Services industry, functioning as a hybrid of a product manufacturer and a pet health information resource. The content demonstrates a high degree of industry-specific knowledge regarding animal nutrition, life stages, and veterinary symptoms.
“The score was primarily driven by the Trust and Proof pillar (10/20) due to high review counts without diverse verification paths and the Identity and Authority pillar (5/15) due to anonymous experts. The Information Density (7/30) and Semantic Coherence (2/20) scores were exceptionally low (indicating high substance) due to the sheer volume of specific data points and cross-page consistency.”
