What Machines Are leaflets Printed On?

HP Indigo | Landa S10P &S11P | Heidelberg Speedmaster‍

Ordering in short run lengths
? In this case we use our rapid setup HP Indigo digital printers. With virtually zero setup time between jobs, these machines are able to print your leaflets in minutes and many of our orders are shipped the very same day. We have three HP Indigo presses making us a digital print powerhouse.
If you're ordering medium to long run lengths
when printing leaflets they will head straight to our Landa presses. We’re the proud owners of 2 of the UK’s first nanographic presses – a new printing technology that is set to revolutionise our industry. The Landa helps us combine the methodology of lithographic offset printing with a digital operating system, which means your print gets the best of both worlds.

Ordering in large volumes?
We'll send it through our Lithographic Heidelberg Speedmaster offset print machines. These huge print presses take time to set-up, as your design is laser etched into aluminium plates and then printed one colour at a time from the CMYK range. Once they are up and running, though, these are some of the fastest printing machine the world has ever seen - we print millions of sheets a day!

How Do I Make a Flyer? Making a flyer for print is a lot easier than you think! Designing leaflets or flyers online is quick and easy, especially if you have your own design team or are happy to dabble in the creation yourself! On each of the different product sizes, you’ll find the design specifications clearly listed for you to utilise. Using our experience, we’ve compiled our top tips for designing your own flyer – here’s our best advice. Keep text to a minimum Flyers are meant to be easy to digest, which means keeping your text short and sweet – it should never take longer than a few minutes to read everything on a flyer. We recommend having no more than 250 words on your flyer – even less for A5 and smaller.

Use headings Design your flyer like you’re telling a story – you’ll need one big heading to summarise the entire flyer, then smaller headings to direct your reader’s attention onto the next important piece of information. This helps create hierarchy in your design and makes it easier to read.

Half fold – a single fold down the centre of your leaflet, so it opens a bit like a card.
Z-fold – a bi fold option that creates a ‘Z’ shape, great for sales brochures.
C-fold – a bi fold option that creates a ‘C’ shape, perfect for showcasing your sale.
Roll fold – created by folding down one section, then another in the same direction until 8 panels are created.
Cross fold – folded in half and in half again, ideal for maps and guides.
Concertina fold – an accordion-style zigzag design with 8 panels, ideal for rich content like step-by-step guides or galleries.

[H2] What are the folded leaflet printing paper stock options?
When we say ‘stock’ we’re talking about the material your folded leaflets are printed on. For some print products, this can range from classic printer paper to card and even to PVC and foam board.
These stocks are measured in ‘GSM’, or grams per square metre. The larger the number, the thicker (or heavier) the paper is and the better quality.

Once you’ve worked on your folded leaflet design ideas and have your marketing ready to go, it’s key that you know where they should be distributed. If you’re a local business you may want to place them in nearby cafés, restaurants and other small businesses; whereas if you’re a B2B firm, you could put some aside to give out at conferences and networking events.

[H2] Top tips for designing a folded leaflet
Folded leaflet designs get a bit of a rep for being tricky – not only do the folds sometimes make it hard to visualise where content should go, things can also get messy if your images or text spread across the folds. We asked instantprint Creative Lead Jennie for her top tips for designing a folded flyer or leaflet.
Visualise the Folds
If you haven’t already, go and watch our video showing the different kinds of folds and how they work. It’s so important to be able to recognise where your design needs to go, what order your message should go in and it will help you get the orientation right.
Mind the Crease
When things are getting folded and unfolded, the creased area can crack, which is a perfectly normal thing to happen. I’d recommend keeping text away from the folds so that it’s always legible.
Navigate the Reader
Don’t overwhelm the reader by putting too much on the page. Leaving some white space (with no text or design elements) actually helps the reader to navigate the page chronologically and makes the design more aesthetically pleasing. Think about navigation across the folds – where will the reader naturally start?

Feather or Teardrop?

You can choose between two different styles of our custom printed flags. Here’s a little bit more about each style:

Feather

– long and tall, you’ll have more room to get your message across. They also look great when they catch the wind!

Teardrop
– a fun teardrop shape that’s a little sturdier in the wind. Slightly smaller design are than the feather style, but just as effective.

Are the flags difficult to assemble?

Not at all! Our flags are designed for quick and easy assembly, taking less than two minutes to put together. Despite their simple set up process, they are durable and strong, ensuring they stand securely all day long.

What Size Should I Choose?

The size of your flag will depend on what you’re using it for. Smaller flag banners are ideal for indoor showrooms and sales, whereas the larger sizes are best used at outdoor events like sporting events and festivals or outside roadside shops.

*We require an additional 60mm of bleed to be added on to your artwork to make sure trimming doesn’t leave any white borders on your design. Keep important information at least 60mm away from the edge to account for the trimming and the black, handstitched lining of the flags.
The easiest way to create your flag design is to use our free flag templates. You can find these on the product page once you’ve chosen which size flag you’d like to print.
We don’t currently offer custom size flags, however if you’re after more choice we offer a huge range of PVC banner
sizes which is another fantastic way of getting a message across outdoors.

Which Flag Base Should I Get?

We offer three different bases for our flags. Here’s a little more information to help you decide which to get.

Eco Spike
– our most affordable base option, this is a metal ground spike that can be used for pushing into fields. Best used for one-day events.

20ltr Standard Base
– A strong, square base you can fill with 20 litres of water. This is a great option and can hold any size flag.

– our heaviest flag base, it holds 30 litres of water. This option will hold your message high on even the windiest of days!
