This meticulous distribution procedure guarantees consistent extraction while brewing, resulting in a more harmonious and flavorful espresso shot. By dispersing clumps and redistributing grounds uniformly, WDT tools support extraction consistency and enhance overall espresso quality. [H3] Coffee Tamper Science

Water under high pressure (typically 9 bars in an espresso machine) is forced through the puck. If the coffee tamping is too light, water flows too quickly, under-extracting the coffee. If it’s too heavy, it may overly restrict the flow, leading to over-extraction or no flow at all. If the puck’s surface is uneven, water pressure can concentrate on the lower areas, creating unequal extraction zones. A coffee tamper is key to consistency!
