[H1] How To Apply For PRSI Hair Grant
[H2] In 2022 the PRSI launched a hair grant scheme worth €500 per year.
“The €500 grant will be available to people, and their dependent spouse, civil partner or cohabitant who satisfy the medical requirements and the PRSI conditions of the department’s Treatment Benefit scheme".

To apply, simply call The Hair Club with your Name and PPS number and our dedicated team will check the PRSI system to see are you eligible.
Once eligible, we then send you the form either by email, post or Whatsapp for you to bring to your doctor to fill in. This form will have a list of various hair loss conditions which the PRSI will require your GP to examine your hair a tick one of the listed conditions in order for you to avail of the grant.
As our team fill all the paperwork out for you, we then send off your application to the relevant PRSI department and it will take 2 to 3 days for a deciding officer to approve your application.
Please note if you are undergoing chemotherapy, you will automatically be entitled to a €770 HSE grant.
Once we receive confirmation and approval for your grant, you can then book in for a consultation at our Dublin hair salon and choose your wig or hair topper.
Please note : After the consultation most customers put on hold the hair piece until the PRSI grant arrives which generally takes around 2 to 3 weeks.
If However you require the wig or hair topper directly after your consultation, you can pay for it there and then, and we reimburse you the value of the grant when we receive the grant which is generally the middle of every month.

The HSE Wig grant scheme has helped thousands of woman across Ireland that have a medical card and a certified hair loss condition like alopecia. HSE Grants are €770 per year. Our Team fills out all the paperwork for you.

To be eligible your doctor must tick the form with one of the hair conditions:
Alopecia areata (which includes alopecia totalis/universalis, diffuse alopecia areata, alopecia ophiasis),
Primary scarring alopecias (also known as cicatricial alopecias),
Frontal fibrosing alopecia and lichen planopilaris (scarring alopecia),
Chemotherapy induced alopecia (anagen effluvium),
Alopecia resulting from surgery or trauma, including burns.
[H1] 2. How To apply For HSE Wig Grant
Firstly, you will need a valid HSE Medical Card. Our team will then send you the form which you bring to your doctor to fill in which we send you by email, post or Whatsapp (link above). This form will have a list of various hair loss conditions which are stated above that your doctor must tick one of these conditions for you to be eligible.
As our team fill in the paperwork for you, we then send off your application to your local HSE office to be approved by a deciding officer which can take around 2 to 3 weeks. Once we receive confirmation and the purchase order number from the HSE you can then book in for a consultation and choose your wig or hair topper.

Chemotherapy is a highly effective form of treatment for cancer, but it is also a very frightening experience. Receiving chemotherapy can be emotionally and physically draining. The hospitals across Ireland like St James Hospital or St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin treat thousands of both men and woman each year.  Before beginning chemotherapy, a person is given the option to take anti-nausea drugs, usually prescribed by their doctor, which can reduce the severity of nausea during the treatment. There is also a counseling service offered which can provide emotional support during and after chemotherapy, as well as providing helpful advice on managing the side effects of chemotherapy. When receiving chemotherapy, a person will typically enter the chemo room, where they will be given a private area to sit and relax. They may be provided with a variety of items such as blankets, pillows and headphones, and will be given the option of having a nurse or family member present during their treatments. The actual treatment typically involves the injection of a powerful anti-cancer drug directly into a vein. The drug is administered over a certain period of time, usually three to four hours, depending on how much of the drug is required. During this time, a person may feel exhausted and find it hard to stay awake.As the chemotherapy progresses, the area of the injection site may become increasingly tender and sore. After the chemotherapy has been completed, the person will usually be monitored in the room for a while, before they are allowed to go home.Once the person gets home, they will likely experience a range of side effects including fatigue, nausea and vomiting, hair loss and mouth sores. The side effects can range from mild to severe, and can vary from person to person. It is important to get as much sleep as possible, and make sure to keep hydrated throughout the day. Eating small meals throughout the day can also help to reduce the fatigue and nausea.It is also important to manage stress levels during and after chemotherapy treatment, as increased levels of stress can worsen side effects. Practices such as meditation, yoga and journaling can help to reduce stress levels and improve overall wellbeing. There are also a range of support groups available both online and in person which can provide emotional support during this difficult time. Chemotherapy can be a very frightening and draining experience, but it can also be a very powerful one. Seeing it through to the end can be a huge accomplishment, and is often an important step on the road to recovery. Every person is different and will respond to chemotherapy differently. However, with the right support system, many people find that chemotherapy can be an invaluable part of their healing journey.

Generally most of our clients that have alopecia prefer a quality human hair wig over synthetic. Also some clients only have small bald patches and require custom made hair pieces over wigs to cover the affected areas.
Trichotillomania is an OCD condition that generally relates to teenagers and young adults. Also know as Trich, this condition effects around 2% of the population where people affected have an urge to pull their hair out from the root.

Alopecia Areata Alopecia Areata is a type of hair loss that affects both men and women but it is more common in women. It is an autoimmune disorder, meaning that the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles. This results in hair loss in round or oval patches. Many clients that experience Alopecia will contact the Hair Club in Dublin to source a wig or hair topper. The hair loss typically occurs suddenly and can range from a few patches to total baldness. Alopecia Areata is most common in individuals between the ages of 15 and 29, but it can affect people of any age. It is not contagious, and the cause is not known. In some cases, it may be triggered by stress or illness. While it is not a life-threatening condition, it can be emotionally distressing.What we general see In most cases at the Hair Club is that Alopecia Areata is temporary, and the hair will grow back after a few months. However, it can recur in some cases, and the hair may not grow back. Treatment options for Alopecia Areata include topical corticosteroids, topical minoxidil, and light therapy. In some cases, oral medications may be prescribed. For those living with Alopecia Areata, it is important to seek medical advice and find ways to cope with the emotional distress. Wearing a wig or scarf can help to cover up the hair loss, while counseling and support groups can provide emotional support. Alopecia Areata is a common condition that can cause emotional distress for many women. While there is no cure for the condition, there are ways to cope with the hair loss and manage the symptoms. It is important to seek medical advice and find ways to manage the emotional distress associated with the condition.
Alopecia Totalis Alopecia totalis is a type of alopecia or hair loss that affects women and men across Ireland. It is a form of alopecia areata, a condition in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles, causing them to become inflamed and to eventually stop producing hair. Alopecia totalis is a more extreme form of alopecia areata, and it causes total hair loss on the scalp. Alopecia totalis is thought to be an autoimmune disorder, meaning that the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells. In this case, the immune system attacks the hair follicles, causing them to become inflamed and to eventually stop producing hair. Women with alopecia totalis typically experience complete hair loss on the scalp, although some women may experience patchy hair loss.The exact cause of alopecia totalis is not known, but there are a few factors that can increase a person’s risk of developing the condition, including a family history of alopecia, stress, and certain medical conditions such as thyroid disorders and lupus. There is no known cure for alopecia totalis, but there are treatments available to help reduce the symptoms and prevent further hair loss. These treatments include corticosteroid injections, minoxidil lotion, and laser therapy. Corticosteroid injections can help reduce inflammation and may help to prevent further hair loss. Minoxidil lotion can also help to stimulate hair growth. Laser therapy is a newer treatment option that can help to reduce inflammation and promote new hair growth.Women with alopecia totalis may have difficulty finding a wig or hairpiece that fits their head, as wigs and hairpieces are typically designed for people with more hair. For women with alopecia totalis, custom-made wigs or hairpieces may be the best option. Women with alopecia totalis may also benefit from wearing a headscarf, hat, or other head coverings to help cover up their baldness. Living with alopecia totalis can be difficult, both physically and emotionally, but there are ways to cope. Talking with a therapist or joining a support group may be beneficial for women with alopecia totalis. It is also important to practice self-care and to focus on the things that make you feel good.
Alopecia UniversalisAlopecia universalis is a rare type of hair loss condition that affects men and women in Ireland. It is characterized by complete hair loss on the scalp and body, including the beard, eyebrows, eyelashes, and body hair. While alopecia universalis is not life-threatening, it can be emotionally devastating for those affected. The cause of alopecia universalis is not entirely known but it is thought to be an autoimmune disorder where the body's own immune system attacks the hair follicles. This leads to the hair falling out and not growing back. As see in our video with Sarah, this condition can result in hair loss at a very young age. There is no known cure for alopecia universalis, but there are treatments that can help slow the hair loss and stimulate hair regrowth. These treatments include topical immunosuppressants, biologic injections, and topical minoxidil. Patients can also use wigs, scarves, and hats to cover the affected areas. Many woman that visit the Hair Club choose our human hair wigs or hair pieces.For women with alopecia universalis, the emotional impact of the condition can be particularly devastating. Not only is there the physical discomfort associated with hair loss, but it can also lead to feelings of insecurity and depression. Women may feel like they don't fit in or are not attractive, which can lead to social isolation. Fortunately, there are ways to manage and cope with the effects of alopecia universalis. Support groups, counseling, and lifestyle changes can all help women with alopecia cope emotionally. It is also important to remember that alopecia is not contagious, and that with the right treatments, it is possible to regrow hair in some cases. Overall, alopecia universalis is a rare but serious condition that can have a devastating impact on women's lives. With the right treatments and support, however, it is possible to manage the condition and lead a fulfilling life.

How To Apply for PRSI €500 Hair Grant

The Hair Club is Ireland’s leading hair company. We have over 1000 wigs and hair toppers in Stock. In 2022 the government introduced PRSI hair grants which are designed to support women or men who suffer hair loss due to illness. This hair grant is expected to benefit around 2,000 people each year. With the rises to cost of living this grant has been beneficial to thousands of people across Ireland. To apply call 01-2608874. Here is form http://cp.hairspray.ie/PRSIMedicalCertForm.pdf   THE PRSI HAIR GRANT “The €500 grant will be available to people, and their dependent spouse, civil partner or cohabitant who satisfy the medical requirements and the PRSI conditions of the department’s Treatment Benefit scheme. Employees paying PRSI contributions under Classes A, E, P and H as well as the self-employed who are insured under Class S may qualify for the grant. The amount paid by the Department of Social Protection will be the full cost of one hair replacement item per calendar year, up to a maximum cost of €500 and will be available from 28 May 2022. It is not available to people who avail of surgical or topical treatments. The scheme covers hair loss resulting from a disease or treatment of a disease such as cancer and some forms of alopecia. The types of alopecia for which a grant may be paid are: alopecia areata (which includes alopecia totalis/universalis, diffuse alopecia areata, alopecia ophiasis) primary scarring alopecias (also known as cicatricial alopecias) frontal fibrosing alopecia and lichen planopilaris (scarring alopecia) chemotherapy induced alopecia (anagen effluvium); and alopecia resulting from surgery or trauma, including burns” Source...
