SUB-PAGE (https://islamic-relief.org/qurbani/) Qurbani 2026 – Donate Online | Islamic Relief Worldwide
It is advisable to give as early as possible. At Islamic Relief, we strive to implement the qurbani sacrifice over 3 days (10th, 11th and 12th Dhul Hijjah).
[H2] Our sacred duty
Last year, your generous qurbani donations helped those suffering across the world, including in Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Thanks to your generosity, in 2025 our teams on the ground distributed qurbani to over 3.2 million people across 29 countries! In 2026, millions continue to face hunger and are unable to afford food for their children. Qurbani provides them with the joy of a good meal on Eid, and happiness at being remembered by their brothers and sisters across the globe.Fulfil your qurbani this Eid by giving to those most in need around the world.
[H2] What is qurbani?
Qurbani means sacrifice. Every year during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, which in 2026 will likely begin on May 18, Muslims around the world slaughter an animal – a goat, sheep, cow or camel – to reflect Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS), for the sake of God.After the animal has been sacrificed, its meat is then distributed to those most in need.In 2026, Islamic Relief will aim to reach more people than ever before through our qurbani distributions.By donating your qurbani to Islamic Relief, you will enable some of the world’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities to enjoy Eid. For many families, it is the only time in the year they’ll eat meat.
[H3] What is udhiyah?
Udhiyah is the Arabic term for qurbani. Watch
[H2] Give qurbani online
You can give qurbani online by using our qurbani calculator. Islamic Relief conducts qurbanis around the world, and the prices vary depending on the cost of animals in the local areas where the sacrifice will be carried out. Allah (SWT) tells us in the Holy Qur’an: So turn in prayer towards your Lord and sacrifice. Right now, an estimated 318 million people are facing crisis levels of hunger or worse, according to the World Food Programme. However, there is hope: by giving qurbani, you can feed a family in need this Eid.The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are the most sacred days of the year, loved by Allah (SWT). By donating your qurbani through Islamic Relief, you can reap the rewards of this blessed month. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these 10 days
[H2] Who is eligible for qurbani?
Islamic Relief has a set criteria and scoring systems in place to determine qurbani recipients. The scoring system is based on the following criteria: Families who live on less than the minimum income for that particular country. Female-headed households. Families with disabled and/or elderly persons. Children under 5 years old. Pregnant women. Breastfeeding mothers. Families with little or no access to the market. A thorough assessment is therefore carried out by our teams to objectively identify the weighting and priority of each of the above criteria. These are then applied when selecting recipient families to ensure we reach the most vulnerable without bias.
[H2] Is qurbani mandatory? Who has to give qurbani?
According to most scholars, qurbani is highly recommended.According to the Hanafi madhab, it is obligatory upon every sane adult Muslim who has wealth in excess of his/her needs. Essentially, those who are obliged to pay zakat are similarly obliged to give qurbani.
[H2] When is qurbani 2026 performed?
Qurbani will be performed after the Eid prayer in each country office. The slaughter will take place from after the Eid prayer on Eid al-Adha (10th Dhul Hijjah) and ends at sunset on 13th Dhul Hijjah. There is a difference of opinion amongst the scholars as to whether qurbani can be done over 3 or 4 days. To respect this difference of opinion, Islamic Relief strives to perform qurbani in 3 days. However, we only extend into the fourth day in localities where this is religiously accepted by the local Muslim population, and if there is an operational need for this extra day.If you give a qurbani on any of these days, the qurbani will still be carried out in time, as Islamic Relief has already purchased the animals to be slaughtered beforehand.
[H2] When is Dhul Hijjah 2026?
Depending on the sighting of the moon, Dhul Hijjah is expected to begin on Monday 18 May 2026, with Hajj taking place from Monday 25, and the Day of Arafah expected to be on Tuesday 26 May 2026.
[H2] When is Eid 2026?
Eid al-Adha follows the completion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The qurbani is carried out following the Eid prayers, which are performed in congregation.Eid al-Adha is expected to begin on Wednesday 27 May and end on Friday 29 May.
[H2] How much is qurbani? How are your prices defined?
High quality Since qurbani is an act of worship that is the most beloved to Allah (SWT) during the days of tashreek, it is important that one offers the best possible offering. Therefore Islamic Relief adopts high quality standards when it comes to selecting the sacrificial animals. Standards cover health, weight (meat yielded) and age. High standards We would also like our brothers and sisters around the world to receive the best quality meat because the believer is asked to love for his brother/sister that which he/she loves for him/herself. These high standards therefore come at a higher cost which in turn further supports economic development of our qurbani farmers. Transporting qurbani to hard-to-reach areas Islamic Relief always tries to reach the most vulnerable people in the most remote areas where the communities are hard to reach. However, transporting meat to hard-to-reach rural areas incurs higher transportation costs which in turn affects the qurbani price. Conflict or disasters can make distribution more difficult and can add to the cost.
[H2] How much qurbani should I give? Can I give more than 1 qurbani?
It is permissible to give more than 1 qurbani. The Prophet (PBUH) himself carried out multiple qurbani for himself and the Ummah. When we offer a prophetic qurbani, we follow in the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
[H2] Qurbani to over 3 million people
Last year alone, your donations enabled us to provide quality meat to over 3.2 million vulnerable people across 29 countries such as Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Syria.Alhamdulillah, your donations provided a critical source of protein to vulnerable families and individuals across the globe. Here at Islamic Relief, we ensure that only the best quality meat is used and all sacrificed according to prophetic tradition. We don’t compromise on quality and deal with local suppliers to help local economies flourish. So as we remember the struggle and dedication of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice for the sake of Allah, make your sacrifice with Islamic Relief and support a family in need.Fulfil your qurbani this Eid and reap the rewards of the 10 best days. Donate today.
[H2] Frequently Asked Questions
How does Islamic Relief select recipients of qurbani meat? It is the policy of Islamic Relief that the selected beneficiaries of the qurbani project are made eligible based on a scoring system, which ranks families according to need. The scoring system is based on the following objective criteria:Families who live on less than the minimum income for that particular countryFemale-headed householdsFamilies with disabled and/or elderly personsChildren under 5 years oldPregnant womenBreastfeeding mothersFamilies with little or no access to the marketA thorough needs assessment will be conducted to objectively identify the weighting and priority of each of the above criteria. These are then applied when selecting beneficiaries to ensure we reach the most needy without bias or subjectivity in selection. It is the policy of Islamic Relief to distribute only 1 qurbani meat pack to each family regardless of family size. Do I have to perform qurbani on behalf of my children? This depends on the school of thought you follow. Please consult your local imam/sheikh for further information. According to the Hanafi school of thought it is obligatory for:Every sane Muslim of mature age (who has reached puberty).Non-travelling persons. Those who additionally own wealth which is beyond their needs, equal to (or more than) the current level of nisab (87.48 grams of gold or 612.35 grams of silver). Do you need to give all the names of the people who are giving qurbani? No, this is not necessary as long as you have made the intention that you are giving this qurbani on behalf of a certain person.
[H3] Qurbani meat
What types of qurbani meat does Islamic Relief provide? Islamic Relief primarily distributes:Fresh qurbani – in most countries animals are purchased and slaughtered locally.Chilled qurbani – in countries such as Jordan where fresh qurbani is significantly more expensive, animals are slaughtered in Europe and shipped ready for distribution from the third day of Eid onwards. This enables us to offer a much more cost-effective alternative, without compromising on quality. How is a qurbani volume decided? Is it a cow or a sheep? The volume of qurbani is representative by the allocations committed for each country. For donors, the following information can help you calculate your donation:1 sheep or goat = 1 qurbani1 cow = 7 qurbani (one qurbani equals 1/7th of the share). How can we really be sure that the qurbanis we pay for in some of the poorest countries are actually taking place? Islamic Relief has been performing qurbani since 1986. As with our other projects, Islamic Relief’s work is constantly monitored and audited. Reports are also produced each year showing what activities have taken place in each country.
[H3] Payment
If I pay for qurbani on behalf of someone else, will their name be called out at the time of the slaughter? No, as Islamic Relief is conducting hundreds of thousands of qurbanis around the world, therefore this is practically not possible. It is also not necessary to pronounce the name of the person, even if you are making a qurbani on behalf of someone else. Simply making the intention that you are giving this qurbani on behalf of a certain person is sufficient. Until when can I make qurbani payments? The time for sacrifice ends when the sun sets on the fourth day. Therefore, you can make payments right up until the end of the third day after Eid (13th of Dhul-Hijjah) before Maghrib salah. Islamic Relief has already purchased the animals to be slaughtered. When should we give money for qurbani? It is advisable to give as early as possible. Islamic Relief implements our qurbani over 4 days (10th-13th Dhul Hijjah). We purchase the animals to be slaughtered in advance based on forecasted quotas. Hence if you give a qurbani on any of these days, it will be carried out in time.
[H3] Cost
Why does Islamic Relief include an admin charge in its qurbani pricing? Admin charges are necessary in order to perform the qurbani as they cover the cost of transportation, slaughtering, cutting, packing, distribution and hire of staff as well as organisational support costs. Are all the costs included in the price? Yes, all the various expenses such as the cost of the animal, slaughter, butchering, transportation, storage, selection of the beneficiaries, and distribution are included in the price.
[H3] How is qurbani is performed?
How is qurbani performed at Islamic Relief? Qurbanis are performed through Islamic Relief country offices who purchase and slaughter animals locally. If there are problems with livestock supply in a particular country (due to limited local supply, natural disaster etc.) then animals are sourced and slaughtered abroad, and then shipped to the affected countries. All animals are sacrificed according to Islamic guidelines. Why can't an animal of our choice be sacrificed? Animals chosen in a country are dependent upon:The suitability of the meat to the local diet. The cost of the animal. The location and the availability of animals. The quality of the meat.
[H3] Miscellaneous questions
Can qurbani meat be sent to my village in a particular country? Islamic Relief performs qurbani as part of our overall seasonal programme. Therefore, the people who benefit in Ramadan and from our general projects will also benefit from qurbani. This allows us to focus our efforts and help the same people to improve their lives, rather than providing small amounts of help occasionally but not achieving great successes. Can I make my qurbani donation towards the orphan I'm sponsoring? We are not able to carry out qurbani for specific orphans; the scale of the operation makes this exceptionally difficult. However, orphans are a high priority in our programmes; therefore they not only benefit from donors’ sponsorship, but also benefit from receiving other support in Ramadan and qurbani. If someone intends to make a sacrifice, when should they stop clipping their nails? It is recommended for the one who wants to offer a sacrifice, once the new moon of Dhul Hijjah appears (i.e. on the 1st of Dhul Hijjah), not to remove anything from his hair, nails or skin, until he has offered the sacrifice. Can I visit the place where the qurbani takes place as I will be in the country at that time? It would be better if people did not visit, as on the day our teams on the ground are extremely busy with slaughtering the animals, dividing them, packing the meat, transporting it to villages and distributing the qurbani packages. Therefore, our teams will not have the capacity or time to host individuals. However, if you are at the locations where the qurbani is being distributed then you are welcome to observe. To demonstrate our distributions to donors, we will share photographs of some of our distributions around the world on our website and social media channels.

[H2] What is sadaqah?
Sadaqah is charity given voluntarily in order to please God.Sadaqah also describes a voluntary charitable act towards others, whether through generosity, love, compassion or faith. These acts are not necessarily physical or monetary. Simple good deeds such as a smile, or a helping hand, are seen as acts of sadaqah.Anyone can give sadaqah for any amount. Some of the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) were incredibly generous in giving sadaqah often giving away large portions of their wealth and keeping only enough to meet their needs. A good balance for us may be to divide our wealth between that which we need, savings and sadaqah. The Prophet (PBUH) would give charity throughout the year but increase his sadaqah during Ramadan. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “The Prophet (PBUH) was the most generous of people, and he was most generous during Ramadan,” (Hadith, Bukhari).
[H2] What does sadaqah mean?
The literal translation is ‘righteousness’. However, in the modern-day context, it has come to mean ‘voluntary charity’. The word stems from ‘sidq’, which means sincerity. This suggests that sadaqah is a righteous behaviour, which shows sincerity of faith.
[H2] What are the benefits of giving sadaqah?
Sadaqah benefits the believer not just in this life but the next.Sadaqah averts calamity and increases sustenance and blessings in one’s life. Allah says in the Qur’an, “Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned” (Qur’an, 2: 245).The Prophet (PBUH) said “sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire” (Hadith, Tirmidhi). He also said that Allah offers relief on the Day of Judgement for those who give sadaqah: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be their charity,” (Hadith, Tirmidhi). Here at Islamic Relief, we use your sadaqah to help support and empower some of the world’s most vulnerable members. In 2024 alone we helped eased the suffering of 17 million people across 34 countries, Subhan’Allah.

[H2] Sadaqah and sadaqah jariyah
An important concept within Islam is the idea of sadaqah jariyah – an ‘ongoing charity.’The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them.”Hadith | Sahih Muslim
[H2] What is the difference between Sadaqah and sadaqah jariyah?
Essentially, sadaqah jariyah is what today’s international development sector calls ‘sustainable development.’ Islam promoted this over 1400 years ago. It encompasses the majority of the sustainable development programmes carried out by both Islamic and other NGOs today.
[H2] Why is sadaqah important in Islam?
Sadaqah not only purifies one’s own wealth, but also helps to establish a flow of wealth in society. Through the good deed of giving, Muslims are bonded together. As well as the economic stability in communities through the distribution of wealth. Therefore, Muslims are instructed by Allah (SWT) to try to give for His sake and spread generosity. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.”Hadith | Tirmidhi
[H2] What is the difference between zakat and sadaqah?
Zakat is an obligatory payment (2.5% of one’s net worth) paid by Muslims once a year. Sadaqah is entirely voluntary. It can be any amount, and can be given any number of times. How Islamic Relief uses your Sadaqah donation We assist families suffering amid conflict and natural disasters including millions of people in war-torn Yemen and crisis-stricken Syria. We deliver development projects to help support communities and campaign on issues like gender justice and tackling climate change, which will benefit generations to come. For many of the world’s most vulnerable, your donations are a lifeline. When you donate to Islamic Relief, you can change the future of an orphan in need. Through your vital donations, they are provided with a way home to food, shelter, an education, and a chance at a brighter future. Here at Islamic Relief, we use your sadaqah to help support and empower some of the world’s most vulnerable members. In 2020 alone we helped eased the suffering of 13.8 million people across 39 countries.

[H1] Zakat Calculator 2026
[H2] Simplifying your zakat calculation
Calculating your zakat isn’t as difficult as you may think. We find that breaking your assets down into different categories makes the Zakat calculation process really simple. We have broken down the calculation process into zakatable assets (gold, silver, cash, savings, business assets etc.) and deductible liabilities (money you owe, other outgoings due) so you can calculate the zakat you owe easily. The amount of zakat you need to pay will be determined once you have calculated the value of your net assets. You then need to see whether your net assets are equal to, or exceed, the nisab threshold. You will determine the amount of zakat to pay once you calculate the value of your net assets. Once this is done, you can see whether your net assets are equal to, or exceed, the threshold.
[H3] Using the zakat calculator
Enter all assets that have been in your possession over a lunar year into the zakat calculator. This will then give you the total amount of zakat owed.
[H3] What is nisab?
The is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must possess before they become eligible to pay zakat. This amount is often referred to as the nisab threshold. Gold and silver are the two values used to calculate the nisab threshold. These two values are constantly fluctuating. You can see the live update below: Watch
[H3] Current Nisab Value (Live update)
Using value of silver (612.36 grams) – approximately $1,495.55Using value of gold (87.48 grams) – approximately $12,770.59
[H3] How is zakat calculated in 2026?
You can calculate your zakat in 2026 by using Islamic Relief’s quick and easy-to-use zakat calculator. Eligible Muslims pay zakat once a year, and it is due as soon as one lunar (Islamic) year has passed since meeting or exceeding the nisab (certain amount of wealth). You then need to see whether your net assets are equal to, or exceed, the threshold.
[H3] Is zakat on income or savings?
Zakat is based on the amount of zakatable assets that you own and not just savings or income. For every sane, adult Muslim who owns zakatable wealth over a certain amount – known as the nisab – he or she must pay 2.5% of that wealth as zakat. Zakatable assets include gold, silver, cash, savings and business assets, which have been in your possession over a lunar year. You can use our zakat calculator above to find out if you’re eligible to pay zakat, and how much you should pay based on your circumstances.
[H3] How to calculate zakat on cash?
Calculating zakat on cash is very straightforward. First, total how much cash you own from the past year, including all cash in your bank account, cash at home, and cash which is owed to you. Then take away any cash which you own to others / in debt, as well as any cash outgoings due, to work out how much cash you own. If this value is above the nisab threshold, you must pay zakat. This is calculated by multiplying the net cash you own by 2.5%. *Please note that you must calculate the zakat due on cash alongside your other assets (this includes gold and silver, investments, shares and business assets). You can efficiently calculate how much zakat you owe using our zakat calculator.
[H3] How to calculate debts and liabilities with regards to paying zakat?
Some debts and liabilities can be deducted from the total value of your zakatable assets when calculating how much zakat you must pay from the last year. These include: – Debts which must be paid off within 12 months. – Up to 12 months worth of instalments of longer-term debts. – Arrears and/or overdue payments. However, not all debts and liabilities can be deducted from the total value of your zakatable assets from the past year. These include: – Expenses and bills which are not yet due. – Debts that are not payable at all in the next 12 months. – Interest payments. As interest or riba is haram, if a person has interest due on debt this can’t be taken off the zakat amount. For mortgages and student loans, alongside other long-term debts, only the amounts which are overdue or due imminently should be deducted when calculating zakat. Zakat must also be paid on debts owed to you, that you believe will be paid- such as the repayment of loans given to family and friends.
[H3] When should I pay zakat and how often?
Zakat is only due once a year. It should be paid on your hawl. This is the Islamic date that you first came into the possession of the nisab amount – for example, the day you got your first paycheck. Importantly, you should pay your zakat on the same Islamic date each year, for example, every 7th Shawwal. Each person’s hawl will be different.

Your Diagnosis

Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.

Information Density 0 / 30
Read the Narrative & headings: do hard facts (prices, dates, numbers) outweigh fluff power-words?
Semantic Coherence 0 / 20
Compare the homepage promise against the sub-page reality. Do they hold the same line?
Trust & Proof 0 / 20
Weigh review mentions against actual external proof links. Claims without verification = theatre.
Commodity Fingerprint 0 / 15
Check headings & narrative against the industry clichés in the setup above.
Identity & Authority 0 / 15
Inspect the schema: is there real Organization/Person identity with sameAs links, or gaps?

💡 Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)

These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.

Information Density

Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.

Semantic Alignment

Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.

Trust & Proof

Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.

Commodity Fingerprint

Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.

Identity & Authority

Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.

Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.

Charities, Nonprofits & NGOs BS: Islamic Relief Worldwide (www.islamic-relief.org)

https://www.islamic-relief.org 📍 Industry: Charities, Nonprofits & NGOs
19 BS / 100

This is a benchmark for high-substance nonprofit communication. By anchoring emotional religious obligations in technical financial calculators and verifiable project metrics, the site nearly eliminates the typical ‘hot air’ associated with international aid. It proves its impact through counting rather than just claiming.

Ensure all references to the ‘Annual Report’ are direct outbound links to the PDF to increase the proof_links_count. Add Person schema for all named leadership team members to bridge the minor authority gap. Update the 2024 impact numbers to reflect the current 2026 temporal anchor to avoid the appearance of aging data. Explicitly link the ‘6 reviews’ to a third-party platform like Trustpilot to resolve the trust theatre flag.

The content perfectly aligns with the Charities, Nonprofits & NGOs category, specifically focusing on faith-based international relief. The presence of specialized religious giving structures like Zakat, Sadaqah, and Qurbani confirms a high degree of industry-specific depth.

“The score of 19 is driven primarily by the trust_theatre_flag and the use of industry-standard generic claims in meta tags. The site avoids higher scores by providing granular evidence, specific project counts, and a unique value proposition (DEC membership) that is rare in its niche.”
