SUB-PAGE (https://kab.org/about-keep-america-beautiful/) About – Keep America Beautiful
[H1] About Keep America Beautiful [H2] Quick Facts Founded in 1953 National nonprofit focused on litter prevention and reduction, recycling, beautification, and community improvement Based in Stamford, Connecticut with network of 731 local affiliates across the United States [H2] Who Are We Keep America Beautiful is a national nonprofit organization working with local affiliates, volunteers, public agencies, and corporate partners to reduce litter, increase recycling, and improve communities across the nation. We believe everyone deserves to live in a clean, green, and beautiful community. Together with our nationwide network of affiliates, we support local programs that bring people together to care for the places where they live. Today, our network includes more than 730 community-based affiliates working in towns and cities across the country. These local leaders, volunteers, and partners carry out programs that range from litter cleanups and recycling education to tree planting, neighborhood revitalization, and beautification of public spaces. [IMG: Are You a Little Bug? Keep America Beautiful History Image with Bee] [H2] Our History Our story began in 1953, when organizations representing civic groups, conservation organizations, corporations, and government agencies came together to find solutions to the growing national concern of litter along America’s highways and public spaces. That initial meeting would eventually evolve into Keep America Beautiful, an organization founded on the idea that improving communities requires collaboration and action among citizens, organizations, government, and business. [H2] Bringing Litter into the [H2] National Conversation In our early years, we helped bring national attention to the problem of litter through public education campaigns and some of the most widely recognized public service announcements in American history. These campaigns helped place litter prevention into the national conversation and encouraged individuals to take responsibility for caring for shared spaces. Over time, our research helped to increase public understanding about why litter happens and what can be done to prevent it. [H2] How Keep America Beautiful Has Evolved What began as a conversation about roadside litter has grown into a nationwide movement powered by millions of volunteers. Today, we support initiatives that address a wide range of environmental and community challenges, including: litter prevention recycling and waste reduction beautification and greening environmental education community improvement and revitalization Through research, education, and local partnerships, we help communities build lasting solutions that improve public spaces and strengthen civic pride. Across our affiliate network, local leaders and volunteers organize cleanup events, plant trees, expand recycling opportunities, and work to improve the places where people live, work, and gather. These efforts demonstrate a simple but powerful idea: when people come together to care for their communities, meaningful change is possible. [H2] Looking Ahead Today, we continue that work through initiatives such as the Greatest American Cleanup for America’s 250th, a nationwide effort to mobilize communities in the years leading up to the country’s semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026. By bringing together volunteers, local governments, civic organizations, and businesses, we are working to ensure that communities across the United States remain clean, green, and beautiful for generations to come. Your Diagnosis
Before revealing the machine’s verdict, predict the BS score for each signal. Higher = more BS (more fluff, less verifiable substance). Drag each slider, then submit to compare your judgment against the engine.
Stuck? Reveal the heuristic lens — how the deterministic page-auditor reads each signal (no AI, pure pattern rules)
These are the structural rules a local, deterministic auditor applies — the same lens you can use to judge each signal. They describe what to look for, not this company’s result.
Classify each sentence as substantive or hollow. Grounding markers — numbers, currencies, dates, technical units, named entities — outweigh marketing adjectives. When fluff sits right next to hard evidence, the fluff is forgiven.
Pull the main entities out of the H1, then check whether they actually recur through the body. A page that announces one thing and then talks about another drifts. Headings with no real sentences underneath read as pseudo-substance.
Count trust words (review, testimonial, rating, verified) against real outbound proof links (Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, G2, Yelp). Lots of trust language with zero verification links is trust theatre. Unlinked logo galleries count against it.
Look at how much sentence length varies. Natural writing varies its rhythm; templated or mass-produced copy is statistically uniform. Very low variation reads as commodity content — unless unique named entities break the pattern.
Inspect the JSON-LD. Is there an Organization or Person schema, and does it carry sameAs links to real external profiles (LinkedIn, socials)? Missing schema or no identity declaration signals an anonymous entity.
Want to apply this lens yourself? The free BS Indicator Chrome extension runs these heuristic checks live on any page. Bear in mind it is a single-page, deterministic tool — it relies only on pattern rules for the page in front of it and does not perform the cross-page semantic correlation this audit uses, so its readout is a starting lens, not the full verdict.
Based on 261 businesses audited.
Charities, Nonprofits & NGOs BS: Keep America Beautiful (kab.org)
This is a benchmark for nonprofit transparency that utilizes empirical studies rather than just emotional narratives to drive its mission. The bullshit levels are minimal, as the organization treats its environmental impact as a measurable technical project. It successfully bridges the gap between high-level heritage and current, granular data.
Integrate Person schema for David Whitehouse and Brian Garofalow to link their professional digital footprints to the organization. Provide a direct, prominent link to the full methodology of the 2026 National Litter Study in the hero section. Convert the ‘News & Events’ generic heading into a more descriptive ‘National Impact & Press Updates’ to further reduce heading fluff. Replace the cliché ‘Join the movement’ with a more specific ‘Track Our 25 Million Piece Progress’ to maintain the technical tone.
The website is perfectly aligned with the Charities and Nonprofits sector, specifically environmental conservation and community improvement. The content focuses heavily on litter studies, community cleanups, and a nationwide affiliate network that confirms its NGO status.
“The score of 18 is driven primarily by residual industry cliches and standard nonprofit template structures in the footer and about sections. The site scored 0 in semantic drift and technical hierarchy due to its consistent messaging and clean schema implementation. It remains in the 'Minimal BS' category due to the overwhelming volume of specific, dated evidence regarding its current study and grant funding.”
